When I was a teenager, I assumed I would outgrow the way this guy makes me feel - never happened. He just knocks me out every time. There is just a spark of the divine in there, and it glows, it has never dimmed.
I was depressed after my divorce. A close friend played this song for me as we traveled down I-40 toward Memphis, Tenn. I felt a visceral feeling of relief when Todd sang " whenever God kissed me and I lost it when I feinted in his arms". What truth Todd.
Absolutely the BEST live show Todd ever did! He and rest of the band were "SPOT ON" for this tour! I feel very fortunate to have seen this show at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago way back in the day! Todd has made a Huge impact on my life and my music and in my soul! Forever grateful. THANKS TODD, FOR A LIFETIME OF MEMORIES!! You'll always be my IDOL!!
Fuck those idiots Don ....This is not THE Don in disguise is it ....Mark Chapman had a Todd album under his arm the day he shot Lennon,He was/is a Republican ..Todd and the GOP don't add up
Every once in while you get a performer that gets it. Todd is it. If you have listened to him for long, if you have followed along his transformation. To get where we are all trying to get to. You will realize where we all should be...... be good to each other and take care of each other. Look out for each other and let God kiss you too....if you let it happen, you will feel it ....and we can all make the world a beautiful place to be... who we are . Just try it one time, what have you got to loose ?
So intense! When I was young, I wanted what Todd sings about, what he labors for. Peace & love. I knew there was something better, but I was so young - didn't know I had to find it within me first. I was "affectionately" laughed at, told my dreams were only wishes & wishes didn't come true. One day I started believing that. I grew cynical. Todd's music brought me back to dreaming, to loving myself & led me to other dreamers. Now I see there IS something better & I'm part of something bigger!!
@Clayton139 Oh how I agree. I feel so fortunate that my spirit was introduced to Todd;s talent in the early 70's and that I have not been the same since. His music has been a part of my exsistence and is a part of who i am since my teens. What a gift to my soul. Thank you

@@usandthemakakelly2535 I met him once when the 1st Utopia album came out . They were playing at Radio city / NYC the same band as on the back cover . We went into NY early in the day & were standing outside the theater , when who came walking down the street but Todd with his multi- colored hair . Lol 😂 He was going in to do a sound check but he hung outside & chatted for a while he was very funny & nice . The show was fantastic over 3 hrs long ,I still have the free program they gave out .
This was a great tour, HarryR. What a voice. How cool that I have lived at the same time as this Mozart of Our Day. Thanks to you, too, Todd. Thanks across time.
This song still gives me chills~ Saw this tour twice and loved Todd since 72' so this song strikes a chill up my spine. Ive' met the worlds greatest lover so kiss me~~` Let's dream together people.
Stephen Hawking has finally "fainted in God's arms" once and for all. Thank you, Todd, for this song about that amazing man who is finally at rest after seeing "what no eyes could see..."
OMT!!! This is by far the best performance of this song. Chills, hair standing up on my arms. I love Todd and am blessed his music found it's way into my life 46 years ago.
Wow what an experience , that was amazing , the production, Todd's voice and Hawking , have never heard it sound so beautifully sung. Thank You ! Wow What a gift to my spirit!!!
I can't stop watching/listening to this! It is so beautiful...... the voice, the music, and especially the lyrics. What an incredible and gifted person. Just love him!
This song touches me so. The spiritual concepts are so incredible & he says what I feel but can never put into words. I cry every time I hear him sing this song. I fell in love with Todd in the 70’s and recently have rediscovered him & I am so impressed with his genius diversity and generosity of spirit. Thank you Todd I love you!
This show took place on Jan. 10, 1990; my 35th birthday!! I actually saw Todd on this tour a few months earlier in Atlanta. Many thanks for posting this!!!
Saw Todd with this group nearly Human Tour with now my ex wife and waited after the show and got his autograph. He was at his BEST here unfortunate as time goes on I don't hear the same tone in his voice in 2018 but will always be grateful for the many years of music.
Omg one my favorite songs of all times...Todd, you are such a brilliant song writer. I love Parallel Lines ...the creative soulful arrangements...well, and sound production is yer thang from way back..you are an incredible genius!: Thank you!
I was watching the ToddStock DVD and during a Q&A he was asked if he gets nervous before going on stage. He said, not really. I only know one thing - either my voice will work or it won't. I'd say it was working just fine on this night!
I'm preparing for the TR concert on Monday so I have been listening to some songs of his that I have never listened to before. I'm not at all surprised to be liking most of what I'm hearing. This is one of the songs on a recent setlist so I hope it's a go for 3-26-12
I believe he is referring to when Christ was resurrected, but we are all free to have our interpretations of his lyrics.! That’s what I love about Todd, he is very thought provoking.
this is the ultimate because he sings in free expression that of course is rehearsed? but so cool as though he was singing whatever his thoughts may have been...if you stuck this stuff in a shrink's office it would be no less than it is...cool...I don't understand it but it's still the ultimate in cool.
Sorry but you will have to go through Todd's entire song library.Hopefully you will not discover the answer to your question until you hear every Todd song.Beautiful
Music is only one part of the Cycle Jan, Mozart neither writes nor plays anymore, We are all in the present, "The past is existential and the future is forged only by our acts of the present" (Dan Ulm) What''s Bigger???
Todds heart is huge, humungous.
I can’t think of another singer/songwriter who puts so much into it.
A truly blessed performance - and, as always, a truly gifted artist...
No one writes music like this but Todd... If you aren't moved by this song, and particularly this performance, you must be made of stone. Pure genius!

Wonderful comment ❤️

1989 and 1990 were great years for Todd Live - My 1st Todd Concert was on the OOPS Wrong Planet Tour 1977 Convention Center Philadelphia U of Penn
Todd rundgren.... His fans.... We get it.....🎸💙💙💙💙
Still undisputedly one of the best albums of the late 20th Century. Bought it as soon a I heard it in 1989, still play it to this day.
if this performance doesn't get a tear out of you.....

Same here!
This song demonstrates just what an incredible singer Todd is..if we needed proof
Whenever I
I close my eyes
Then I don't mind being the way I am
But whenever I try
Explaining why
I know I never can
Now that it's
Gone, paths I used to travel
Gone, things I used to handle
Gone, once I had a choice what to be
But then God kissed me
And I lost it when I fainted in his arms
Have pity on me brother
I'm trapped behind the mirror
I'm out here on the border
Wondering why
Why was it I?
Maybe my mind wouldn't have come this way
If I'd taken my time
Answers only unwind
When you can't look away
Maybe 'cause
I want the secret broken
I want the casket open
I need to see what no eyes can see
And when God kissed me
Then I dreamed them when I fainted in her arms
Now I've got to go on sleeping
Lean in a little closer
And I'll tell you what I'm dreaming
I'll tell you what I'm dreaming
I see time without beginning
Space without an ending
I see bodies strong and running
With minds not comprehending
Have pity on your brother
Please have pity on your sister
Take pity on each other
And on every living creature
Whenever I
Open my eyes
I can't believe it's real
It's a jungle outside
People just survive
They can't reach the high ideal
But I
Know if I can't recover, at least I
Know, I know the book from cover to cover, and who
Knows, I might dream forever
Since I've met the world's greatest lover
When God kissed me
And I knew it when I fainted in his arms
Let's dream together people
Going back to his Philly days and sound....
The one and only....Mr. Todd Rundgren. Thank you for sharing your enormous talents!
