Visiting Richmond Barthé mural in Brooklyn, NY, with Swann Galleries

Thank you for joining us LIVE from Brooklyn and Richmond Barthé's frieze, "Exodus and Dance," with special guest Corey Serrant of @swanngalleries. Considered the most important 20th-century American sculptor of African descent, Richmond Barthé is known for his portrayals of figures from Black history, notable stage and dance performers, religious subjects, and public works. In 1939, Barthé completed the 8-foot by 80-foot frieze "Exodus and Dance," now installed at Kingsborough Houses in Brooklyn. The two 40-foot panels, which comprise the frieze, have recently been announced for comprehensive restoration by the New York City Housing Authority.⁠⁠
