My Arctic cat 500 was 5500 without tax in 2014. Man I miss those prices. Spending 10000 on a toy is crazy..

The General was my favorite but it's lost that Lester, I mean luster. 😉I think if Polaris offered it with a true full size cab that it would move back up front. Until then it remains as a nice SxS but not a WOW SxS if that makes sense?

ATVs have grown in scale, the problem is that it is a "Ride Active" machine and the larger the machine, the more it demands from your stamina, taxing the rider, Technology has caught up with power steering and suspension improvements, but that resulted in a much more complex machine that increases the costs of purchase and maintenance. The Argo 500 Class is all the ATV most will ever need for work and play. We moved the needle a lot in the last 10 years and its becoming apparent that the price points are going to burst the OHV bubble.

The opening ATV from Argo seems pretty cheap and says a lot, the second feature about the General staying the same or being updated with Expedition underpinnings is an easy answer - it should stay the same if an update means higher prices - these "toys" getting priced out of the budgets for most people.

The main issue i have with argo is the limited dealerships and parts and accessibility. Even though the 500cc price is good , if using for work, standby for parts is a loss in money. If using for trail riding theres so many better options.

Right now the new Kawasaki Brute Force 450 is about the best value at that price range right now. Or for a few hundred more the Can-Am Outlander 500 with 40hp is still the best entry level ATV on the market imo.

@dwaynebraden6312 for ripping around no doubt but I'm never buying a Can Am or kawasaki for work

@@dwaynebraden6312 Both the Bruteforce 450 & the Argo Xplorer 500 are actually the exact same ATVs. They are both rebadged Kymco Mxu450. The Kymco Mxu700 is available as the Argo Xplorer 700 which in my opinion are better designed ATVs. The 450s air filter is located under the bike in a cannister with lines plumb to the intake & engine. That to me is such a poor design that it makes me wonder what else is poorly designed of this ATV.

Honda will last for year, I’d buy it

Polaris seems to have taken the Japanese approach of “small hammers” with the General. Hard to believe it’s been around for 9 years.

New Rincon is a let down. I owned a 2003 and sure, hands down if I wanted an atv that I planned to drive across the U.S or backwoods where getting home could be life and death - it's perfect. I'd buy a used one though. For a new machine in MY 2025, they had the option for a refresh and wasted it.
