Very beautiful car, and hats off to the people who kept this car in such great condition. Looking at the 50, 51, and the 53 Cosmo, the 51 has the best styling of the three. This car might have looked better if the roof was the same color as the rest of the car. Black / dark blue is not a good color for cars, and especially roofs, since it absorbs the heat. Looks like it has the same overdrive /boost lever as the 50 mercury. Problem with the styling is that it looks a lot like the same year Ford Crown Victoria. Love the inner fender metal baffles on many of the older high end vehicles, which probably added to the sound deadening. Also very impressed with how clean the car is underneath.
Nothing like listening to someone talk about something that they know nothing about. Instead of getting information on this model Lincoln, we have to endure this fool turning lights on and off and going on enlessly about chips and scratches.
The better model was called Capri. My father owned one, It had one of the best US built engine for 1953 very durable, It was a Mexican road race champ that year.

This old Lincoln is as good as Jason's description. We've affectionately named it Carl the Cosmo and it now resides in Oklahoma.
