What an incredible example of a top-pro air boss...unlike the Knucklehead that caused the collision in Dallas not long ago. That airhead should be charged with multiple counts of manslaughter as every pilot left the briefing room unsure what he was supposed to do. Of course a collision happened...just a matter of time.
It's not about "entertainment", It's Demonstration. I remember back in the seventies when there was no music no announcer no false drama. Just a damned good display/demonstration of military might. And the Blues and T'Birds are not "jet teams" They are Demonstration Teams.
I don't doubt his experience or expertise in this demanding role. But I'm personally not a fan of folks wearing USN/USMC/USCG wings of gold on their chest (official looking flight suit/jacket nametag) who did not graduate Naval Aviation training. From what I can gather, he is a Marine Corps veteran, but not an actual military pilot.
