Love you too Bobby! Also yeah you're definitely not JUST buying access with a Founder's pack, 100%. You're getting the god pack (and 5k diamonds from level ups once beta launches) and some other neat stuff like Ascension passes (which will also get you several thousand diamonds if you complete them) and some skins. If you're gonna buy anything at all for SMITE 2, founder's edition is it. You'll get more than $30 worth of Diamonds long-term plus God pack and other shit.
Honestly if the open beta goes well smite might get a rally. But I really feel like this last year should have had most of us still playing smite 1 with player tournaments and some more of the wacky changes that we had seen to keep things interesting. I do really like smite and hope things get better from Jan onwards. Nice vid Bobby!
I’ve been playing consistently since 24/7 Alpha. But my friends, who I normally play smite with, have been holding out until Joust gets added. Conquest mains seem to underestimate how many people like Joust and Assault. So with those being added in Jan I think a lot of people will come back.
Quite sad that the very obvious “give it another year” idea somehow never hit them. Considering where the game is at now it’s pretty obvious how much better the release would have been if they just waited.
Hindsight is always 20/20 and I believe the consensus is that they were forced to make the switch this fast by the higher up. Could be wrong but I truly believe the devs would of wanted a longer/closed development cycle before showing the public
@@letplayabcthe “hindsight” was already showing at the announcement to be fair. But yeah based on every hi rez decision I’ve seen in the last decade and a half it was almost certainly the higher ups and the devs suffering for it
Maybe it would have gone better, but they also may have done a ton of development in ways that no one would have liked. On reveal the game was a lot darker with more muted colors and had split damage. Without player feedback they may have leaned into those decisions and others like them and wasted a lot of time on things they would need to undo (but probably wouldn't be willing to after spending so much time and money on them). Or maybe they would have figured it out without player feedback anyway. It's sad to see how many people still think the game is in the same condition it was at reveal, it definitely would have been better to have revealed a more finished product.
@@ScyxurzI actually liked the original UE5 launch colors tbh. I liked that realistic, dark, gritty look. I think they could have made it look so much better overtime too.
Maybe Hi-Rez should do some kind of big trailer or roadmap update to show people how the game has changed. Even just a little gameplay trailer showing the new changes since most people are probably not keeping up with smite talks and/or content creators for the game they saw in May
I genuinely hope SMITE 2 can make up for that failure of a first impression. While there are a few things I would change at the moment, the biggest and only truly major complaint I have at the moment is the matchmaking, which is at the least mostly due to player count. I swear some of these people have never played a MOBA in their lives and I'm genuinely confused how/why they got into a paid alpha. (and yes, I know about the twitch drops, but those are so barely advertised that the point still stands)
Obviously this isn’t for most players but I know my younger brother and his friends (all 14 and completely new) got into the game cuz they wanted to be better by the time it really came out. Honestly I think most the “problem” is that a large portion of the community played the casual game modes exclusively
I am pretty new to smite, over a year of playing & 1,200 hours now I think. Definitely still learning the game & all the gods so I am still playing smite 1. I have played with people who have said they are just waiting for it to be finished or waiting for their fave gods. I think that is where I stand now as well. I hope Hi-rez can get some good marketing for the official free to play release to bring old players & new players to the game. I'll def be moving over once it gets closer to the release.
yea but he 30 dollars for smite 2 is honestly worth it u get all the gods anddd in january if ur alr level 50 ur getting hella diamonds that equal to the amount you spent they r rlly generous honestly
I would agree that concurrent numbers doesn't represent overall population but they definitely show the poor state of matchmaking. You can't possibly get balanced matches out of 1.2k players. I don't expect the trend to change after f2p. Yes, there will be a few weeks 12-15k peak and then it quickly deflate to 5-6k max.
Im a long term Smite player. Reason im not playing is because they've added things from other MOBA's that make it feel like something completely different than Smite. From general gameplay to certain system additions like wearing multiple buffs at once.
You listed one thing. Which is multiple buffs. Idk how that is that game breaking. The jungler barely even wears more than 1 and at most you'll see them with speed and red in the very beginning but that's it.
I’m one of those that stepped away from smite. I will be giving the open beta patch a chance, but there’s a chance I shift to deadlock. 24 was a rough smite year. Ready for 25!
Idk... I just kind of stopped playing Smite pretty much entirely. Am I just done with MOBAs? Was it the first impression? idk, it just really did not grab me.
They need to have heavy matchmaking updates for this January update as well, the current matchmaking is dogshit and not only because of low players. If it stays as bad as it is now for that patch then that’s really bad I think
I don’t think player count going to fix matchmaking. I agree it’s a factor. Look at marvel rivals huge player count matchmaking still sucks. I feel like it’s on par with smite 2.
I can't speak for anyone else as to what made them stop playing, but for me it is the lack of gods that make the game look and feel like a next gen experience. Smite doesn't exist in a bubble, there are other games to play, and not enough time to be spending it on undercooked games. They could've used all that extra manpower they decided to get rid of.
Aladdin won't be a pull for me since i HATE his ult not being a true 1v1. The jan patch will be hilariously unbalanced though. Too much new things at once when we know hi rez isn't good at even just balancing one thing coming out.

As someone who hasnt migratetd yet and is and active player for a decade, I dont know what it would take for me to migrate but its not as simple as shaking off a bad first impression. There are too few gods, and I really disliked all the balance changes with magical/phys combination, and many design choices. I think the game looks worse too. The incentives to migrate are that only new gods are released in smite2, smite1 could get stale if this lack of balancing keeps up, and also if the pro scene takes off that could be an incentive. Looking at the current numbers it seems 5k are playing smite1 and 1.5k are playing smite2 even after a full year so the majority are still with Smite1 which also makes it harder to move. Finally alot of the Smite players are getting into their 30s and the older you get the harder it is to find love for new things, like switching a game. What is the solution? Depends on what the problem is. If the problem with smite1 is issues with the graphics, I dont think smite1 players care for graphics much in the first place. If there still is no way to continue with the engine smite1 is running on long term, I guess the devs need to make more incentives for players to migrate. Of course neglecting smite1 entierly risks loosing alot of income due to it loosing overall players whom dont migrate, so 2025 will be a make it or brake it year with how they navgate this.
I made the comment that I switched from Smite 2 to Marvel Rivals.(Not sure if that’s what inspired this vid or not) I just had sensation like Smite 2 no longer felt like home to me & Rivals had that feel that I was looking for.
**explaining my thoughts: Some things I enjoy about rivals as opposed to Smite 2 are, the omnidirectional movement. That’s one cue they should’ve taken from Paragon/Pred. Aladdin shows signs it’s somewhere on their mind, but boy does being able to move freely through your environment really mix things up. The ability cooldowns are ability & character specific. There are normal abilities with 30 second+ cooldowns, because of how powerful they are, and that somehow doesn’t feel bad. Also, double fire abilities have separate cooldowns. Magik, who immediately reminded me of Nemesis, has two teleports on separate cooldowns. So applied to Nem, I’d be able to dash once & that dash goes on cooldown. As opposed to both dashes going into cooldown as soon as I use one. Lastly, cause I’m ranting too much. 😂 While it’s early, the CC doesn’t feel oppressive & there’s not even a way to respond to it. If you get CC’d, you’re just stuck, but I never feel like I died purely to CC. It just feels like I got outplayed.
