I'd recommend a temperature "gun"; however, IF using one's hand....USE THE BACK of your hand or fingers to check for heat. (Learned this from NAVY firefighting school)

Randy great video and great tips !! I have a 2014 Ranger 620 with the torsion suspension and I’ve gone through 3 axles ! Granted 2 were under warranty when there was a warranty but my last one wasn’t and 4 grand later I’m fishing again. My point is Ranger owners with torsion suspension need to keep an eye on not just the wheel bearing aspect but also the axle going bad aspect. Keep an eye on your tire wear especially or if one side seems lower than the other. Telltale signs an axle is compromised especially the torsion ones.

One of the best checks you can do is occasionally Jack the wheel off the ground and check side to side play as suggested but then give the wheel a spin. (Needs to be in a very quite setting, The bearing will tell you its health in most cases.
