Alice Copper you saved my life do to my job and personal life i had to hear that song from the movie frozen [let it go ] several times a day for 2 years. To keep from losing my mind I started to pretend it was sung by Alice Cooper. Now I'd like to hear a cover by Alice Cooper. If your out there Alice Copper please cover that song from Frozen❤
Alice Cooper was born in 1948, and this song was his first hit in 1970, so he would have been 22 when he released it. He was 42 in 1990. And my first time seeing him was on the original Muppet Show in 1978, when I was 7.
Alice Cooper was 42 when this was filmed... His 1989 comeback album was titled 'Trash'... so, this concert video was called 'Alice Cooper Trashes the World'... from the '89/ '90 world tour (BTW the next song Alice introduced was called "I'm your gun"... also from the 'Trash' album) His live band here was different, w/ top notch musicians of that era - Al Pitrelli & Pete Friesen (guitars), Tommy Caradonna (bass), Jonathan Mover (drums), Derek Sherinian (keyboards) and Devon Meade (backing vocals) "Eighteen" was Alice Cooper's first hit single from 1970 w/ the original Alice Cooper band - Alice Cooper (vocals), (the late) Glen Buxton (guitar), Michael Bruce (guitar), Dennis Dunaway (bass) and Neal Smith (drums) and was released on their 3rd album 'Love it to death' in 1971 and it became Alice Cooper's first platinum hit record. The story behind 'Eighteen' was interesting... the Alice Cooper band had released 2 albums on Frank Zappa's label and they sold poorly... In 1970, Warner Bros. Records bought Zappa's label and Alice Cooper was on it... Their manager Shep Gordon (who still manages Alice Cooper) knew they had potential and brought in Canadian producer Bob Ezrin to an Alice Cooper show... Ezrin loved the theatrical Alice Cooper and this one song "I'm Edgy" got his attention... The band told him later that it was called "I'm Eighteen" - it was about the angst from coming of age and still not yet an adult. Ezrin worked to 'rebuild' the Alice Cooper band's sound and decided to record "I'm Eighteen" in 1970 to show Warner Bros. that Alice Cooper could be a commercial success... It was released as a single late in the year and it took off on radio. Teens and even college students could relate to the song and it charted at #21 in the US... Warner Bros. quickly demanded a full album from Alice Cooper, so they finished recording 'Love it to death'... and it charted at #35 in the US (#28 in the UK) and established Alice Cooper as the premiere shock rocker. The studio version of "I'm Eighteen" was different from this 1990 performance - the technology was limited and it originally sounded like a demented 60's rock song... Alice Cooper still performs it to this day. Other classic Alice Cooper songs - "School's out" ... 'Billion dollar babies' ... 'No more Mr. Nice Guy' ... 'Hey Stoopid' ... 'Feed my Frankenstein'... 'Bed of nails'... 🤘🤘🔥🔥
Actually he usually fills those musical breaks getting the guillotine or being hanged, or electrocuted. Often by his wife or daughter. Fun family activities! He's actually been sober since like '84. Up until then he was a mess by his admission. Also, oddly he's been Christian since then. I'm not kidding. Great reaction!
With Halloween coming up, it would be a great time to do Welcome To My Nightmare - full album! Some of his biggest hits have been ballads, so check those out too.
My family is huge Alice Cooper fans. My Brother saw him in 1972. My Mom was 80 when she met him. I got the chance to meet him twice. We just saw him in concert in Ohio.
This concert probably is 1990 but this song was written in the 70’s when he first hit the scene. Also on a side note… I got to meet him in 91” or 92” in Ottawa, ON, Canada I was 11 or 12 years old at the time and he was nicest guy you could ever meet. All a show for shock value but still great musicians
I've seen Alice live twice. The first time in 1986 and then again a few years ago. Poison is from him as a solo artist. This song, like most of his hits, is from when the band was called Alice Cooper. Besides this song his most iconic song is School's Out. That song was played on the last day of school from the time it came out until the eighties, at least, when I graduated high school.
The thing at the end of the songs "18" was the intro to the song "I'm Your Gun." If you can't get the meaning of it from "Wrap your fingers all around me, I'm your g-g-g-g-gun..." you will from the first lines of the song: "Pull my trigger, I get bigger, then I'm lots of fun." Alice did all kinds of songs - from drug addiction in Poison, to anthems like "18", to social issues like "Only Women Bleed" and "Every Woman Has a Name" to global issues like "Blood Diamonds" to.. well... sex sells too. Heck some of his albums even include versions of cutesy oldies like "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles" (which I learned isn't a song about Michael Jackson...)
I love the song "Only Women Bleed." Leave it to a male shock rocker from the 70's to write a heartfelt song about domestic violence, and the ways that so many women; then and now, suffer at the hands of the men that they love. 😢
That was an AMAZING tour! That's when i first saw him as well. Dangerous Toys, and Metal Church were also on that bill. So much metal in one night. Goddess i miss those days, almost as much as i miss my hearing. 😂
Alice promises the musicians 3 things, they will have fun, they will get paid well, and they will get stitches. He winds up wacking everybody at some point.
I like the live version from his 1977 live album "The Alice Cooper Show". Back then he was doing shock rock, getting decapitated on stage and handling snakes. In that version of 'Eighteen' he complains, "Mom and dad got me drinking beer!" and then "whiskey all night long."
Saw him live in 2018 at the Greek Theater in LA - still one of the best live shows on earth! He likes to surround himself with young super-talented musicians who love performing with him. He's actually had a couple of different outstanding female guitarists in his band - first Orianthi and then Nita Strauss. When I saw him in LA, Nita was in his band, but Orianthi showed up for the encore of School's Out and it was awesome!
If you want a clearer idea of Alice Cooper's tone, you have to hear the songs _You and Me_ and _How You Gonna See Me Now?_ No spoilers, but I only just heard them again for the first time in decades while writing this, and you can gauge my emotional response by how it took me eight minutes to write two sentences.
saw this and Poison in 1991 at Whitley Bay ice rink (UK) during 'Hey Stoopid!' tour, fan-bloody-tastic! finished with 'elected' what a showman. great reaction!
I think this song was recorded on the Poison tour. Alice is a consummate showman. Every tour is different, and I'm not sure anyone knows how many times he's "killed" himself on stage, only to come back the next song in one piece. His goal is to have the audience enjoy the music, but to also give them a wild visual show mixing vaudville, and horror. He always gives the fans their money's worth at every show. Another fantastic reaction. 😊
The song was written when his drinking issues started. But, Alice was pretty clean by the 90s. As for the pool que. He's known to be a little wild on stage. It's the character. He tells everyone he hires for the band. "I can guarantee a few things. You'll see the world. You'll be well paid. And you'll get some scars." There's a video of Alice breaking a cane on a monitor, and it rebounded back and hit Nita in the head. She finished her bit, then ran back to a stage hand to check if she was bleeding. LoL. She wasn't, so she just went on playing.
Anyone that refers to themselves as "Theatre Kid" is doing their self a disservice if then don't react to Alice Coppers...Ballad of Dwight Fry.. live of course! I know it's a little late but would make an outstanding Halloween reaction.
the whole LOVE IT TO DEATH album is full of bangers fun fact ALICE is based out of detroit even tho they were formed in california because the band decided to claim the town where they got their 1st standing ovation
So glad we've gotten past the Desmond Child abominations and into the real Alice Cooper songs. Check out Billion Dollar Babies or well... anything from the 70s. Generation Landslide and Desperado are personal favorites but it might be hard to find a live version. Under My Wheels or Be My Lover were more popular and would be easier to find. Alice would have been 42 at this point. I remember when I got into him as a kid thinking that it was great that he was still touring at such an advanced age. He's roughly the same age as Ozzy, but he seems to be holding up better.
Just found your channel! As an old theater kid to a new theater kid, I have SO MANY suggestions for you! Just a couple to start with: Meatloaf Paradise By The Dashboard Lights and Warren Zevon Werewolves of London. If you do those I'll keep 'em coming!

Was a young guy when I was on the tour with him .. He stole the band from Lou Reed ...Pentti Glan (drums), Prakash John (bass), and Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter (Guitars)... "Alice Cooper - Be My Lover/Only Women Bleed/I Never Cry - Live" is a great live cut with his daughter. "Alice Cooper - Halo Of Flies" put up by "APlace In Time" is crazy and there is "NITA STRAUSS" on guitar .... "ALICE COVERS BORN THIS WAY - ALICE COOPER LIVE AT BONNAROO 2012" This is Alice !!! as scripted by GaGa!
'I'm a boy and I'm a man' could apply to any age of a guy past about 12-13 all the way until death. Also the pool cue is probably incase any audience member gets out of hand. they make a pretty good weapon lol
Saw this dude sing this live when I was 20. I’m 69 now… Opening act was Flo and Eddie, fresh off tour with Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention. Flo and Eddie were WAY better and funnier. Fun fact: The Warning has been Alice Cooper’s opening act in Mexico! Amen to the 25-year old realizations. My twins are 25 now.
