Rajeshwari Vasudev was married to noted poet Sudhindranath Dutta after she received her musical training at Santiniketan. She was affiliated with Music Institutions in UK and the USA in 1960s. Rajeswari Dutta and Sudhindranath Dutta both used to be perfectly dressed up and groomed, well-mannered to the extreme, jovial and hospitable, a truly cultured couple. Sudhindranath Dutta never wavered from his love and respect for Bengali and Sanskrit, while being a genuine scholar in European languages and literature. Rajeshwari Dutta, a punjabi by birth, was equally fluent in many European languages. She was trained in music in Shantiniketan under Tagore himself and proceeded to become one of the major Rabindra Sangeet singers of her time. They simply added on the best of European culture without ever neglecting their own.

কবি সুধীন্দ্রনাথ দত্তের যোগ্য সহধর্মিণী, অবাঙালি হয়েও অনেকের চেয়ে বেশি বাঙালি এই মহীয়সী নারী রবীন্দ্র সংগীতের সাধক ও গুণী শিল্পী। আকাশবাণী কলকাতা থেকে ৮০ দশকের শেষার্ধে ওঁর বাদল দিনের প্রথম কদম ফুল এবং ওগো আমার চির অচেনা পরদেশী গান শুনেই প্রথম গুণমুগ্ধ হয়েছিলাম। সেই থেকে এখনও শুনে চলেছি অন্যান্য পরিবেশনকৃত সংগীত সম্ভার!

These are more of Puja parjay songs rather than love songs . In fact, it is extremely difficult to distinguish between Puja Songs and love songs . I had the rare opportunity to listen to her at Banga Sanskriti Sammelan in mid seventies . She left this world thereafter within a few months . So melodious voice who is not a Bengali by birth !!
