Love the video!!! Thanks man. I was really impressed with how much the thing opened even under 1400 fps. Launching them at 4050 fps out of the Winnie there is no range I could even come close to using them on game where they wouldn’t expand very well with sufficient penetration based on what you’ve shown here (and my experiences).

Barnes has a winner here. I think they would do well to offer these in higher weights. It could give a 308/-06 some great range in a 150-168 gr weight. It won’t be quite so dramatic to damage meat at short range and will really let you stretch it out with that low velocity performance. The 110 in a modest charge would be a great low recoil round for a young or new shooter.

This is what the TSX and TTSX are for, and they do offer those in this weight range.

@@bradgriff I'm aware, however both of those lines are known to have expansion issues below 2000 fps. I'd rather have them use the softer alloy and larger tip/hp in the tac-tx for better expansion at low velocities. With 308/30-06 ranges beyond 350 have limited expansion and beyond 450 may have no expansion. I'd rather have overkill at 100 and a bullet that performs at 500-600 than be limited

Thanks for making another video. The meat damage would be extreme but would certainly get the job done. Seams like the Lehigh 152 or Cutting Edge 150 would be better. Please test the Cutting Edge 180 Maximus. Cheers

If you want "slow" and "expanding" look at the Lehigh Defense Controlled Fracturing. I use them for bear and deer at 1050fps out of 300blk. So far I have never had to trail one

I’m the subscriber haha, if anyone happens to be curious about the load I hunt with it’s in a .300 win mag (savage 111 long range hunter, 26 inch barrel). Peterson brass, fed 215m primer, 89.5 grains of hodgdon superformance powder (yes, 89.5, not a typo, it’s a dense ball powder - went up to 92 but hit pressure signs). Seated to the cannelure, the bullet and bore of the rifle are treated with HBN (hex boron nitride) - that changes things. 4050 feet per second! Just shy of 4400 foot pounds of energy.
Do not attempt to replicate this load without due precaution and the standard reloader’s practice of starting at least 10 percent under this charge, and more still with naked bullets as opposed to HBN treated.

@@buckhenderson1788 yep BUT depends where ya hit it. On a broadside double lung not much waste at all. Wouldn’t opt for a shoulder hit on purpose tho

@@beersnbeeer first off your username is awesome! But I can’t drink beer any more, just got diagnosed with celiac disease.
Second off. Speed kills. Lightweight monometal bullets at warp speed just hit different, has to be seen to be understood.
I do also have an opposite end of the spectrum load with a 225 grain hornady eld match at 2800 or so, it also kills very emphatically. But I’ve yet to take game beyond 400 yards or so. Inside that range this load DOMINATES! It shoots flatter than pretty much any .257 weatherby load. .358 g1 bc at 4050 fps is really, really hard to compete with.
