When you said to examine our hearts when we decorate and ask why. I am 72 and live alone. Yet I decorate for every season because I love to acknowledge the changing of the seasons . If no one ever comes, it doesn't matter. The joy I get from a plump pumpkin, a glowing candle , greens and berries and trees and foliage makes my life a celebration. It can be subtle or a little extra. I do it for me. If someone comes and gets pleasure from it.. its a win,win. Its a cozy, nesting thing that is just ingrained in my soul.
Good for you!! I am the exact same way. I also live alone. I love to decorate my home. I do it for every season as well and many times even every “holiday.” I use the same items each year for the most part. Maybe get a couple little things here and there. New candle etc…and I’m usually the only one who ever sees it as well. But that’s totally fine, because that’s who I do it for, me. 😊

I live in Canada, and I don’t get it WHY women these days feel they have to do that… I can’t imagine what it must cost to have the latest decor trends bought up…and then taken down and stored somewhere…and then get onto the next seasonal flavours! I love fall too, but I enjoy the natural beauty of it, the air of fall, the changing of colours everywhere, harvesting flavours, the process of the leaves falling down with the wind, certain flowers that will still bloom until heavier frost comes, eating vegetables like squashes, pumpkins, and fall fruits like new tree ripened apples, pears, prune plums and more…canning and freezing, etc. My husband made a comment the other day after I shared how this seasonal decorating has become so highly important…U-tube is unreal with the necessity to decorate as a show home…anyways he said that it’s become like an idol to a lot of women! The seasons don’t last that terribly long and I guess that what I have in our home stays year round! I do some special decorating for Christmas, to honour Jesus Christs’ coming…but I don’t have any Santa, elves, gnomes, grinches, or other decor that takes away from the true meaning of Christmas… So when you said, what is your motive to do certain things….we make choices every day and if we are true believers in Jesus Christ, we want to make choices that are God honouring… Yes, I do like our home to be a place where you enjoy being…. Oh, and I am SO done with seeing pumpkins on U-tube channels…fall is SO much more than pumpkins! And Halloween coming up soon….. There’s sure a lot more to our precious life than constantly decorating! We have countless homeless Street people and with all of the Covid catastrophe with people losing their jobs and homes, and many families are having an incredibly tough time just barely making it month by month, and anytime we will be going into the governments’ last demands with jabs, masks, restrictions, mandates forced and probably lockdowns again… So it boils down to what is most important to us…what are our priorities… Jesus is coming soon! We need to be ready! I love you, Andrea…the love of Jesus emanates from you, you are a beautiful woman of Almighty God, and your heart is desiring to live for God…that means alot to me! God bless you and your family…immeasurably! Oh, I so agree! Many people decorate for Halloween in the UK, but not for the actual Autumn season. I started decorating my entrance door with wreaths and malms a few years ago and actually some many people stopped by to say how nice that I do that. Now, my neighbours anticipate a new wreath for each season. What will it be this year, Joanna? 😂
Andrea, I love your use of negative space. Your shelves are not loaded with objects. I have cooked from scratch (generally) my entire 48 years of married life. There is nothing more pleasing to me as to see a well used kitchen. “Designer unused kitchens seem such a waste”. You are an encouragement to young moms. ❤

I had a mom who instilled in me a love of home decor and making things beautiful. I feel her presence when I shop, decorate, or host family and friends. I always incorporate her items into everything I do. So yes, home decor is personal and not silly at all. Your home is absolutely beautiful. Comforting and serene. ❤

Your home is beautiful! I raised 4 boys too and my home looked like a rumpas room most of the time! But, our home was filled with love and laughter and the boys knew it was always a welcome place for them and their friends to hang out.

I was born in late 50's and my Mom was a stay at home Mom... raised 7 kids. She cleaned all the time - constant laundry. But she had a plague with a Chinese proverb that hung on the wall in the kitchen - that said "My home is clean enough to be healthy, and dirty enough to be happy". We didn't have alot growing up - but always love in the home. Taught morals and respect for others. Would not trade it for anything. Your boys will always remember the love in their home.

I am now a grandma and both of my daughters get so discouraged sometimes with their homes never looking clean and neat. I surprised myself when I couldn't help but start crying at the end, when you shared real footage of kid life. I needed that. God knew. Mama of five under 7. I loved the tour. I'm sure it is a lot of work getting it all picked up for a tour. I have been following along for a long time and always love what you share. I am not a young mom but if I was in this day of so much to see online, it would be hard not to feel discontent with all the people buying so much. I enjoy decor and interior design so i watch a lot of videos, but it can get to be overload at times. Esp with fall and christmas a lot of people buy tons of things and fill their homes. I can appreciate it, however there is beauty and calmness in a scaled back approach too. I appreciate this video and tour for this reason. You don't have to buy all the latest decor to have a beautiful and welcoming home.

I love the changing seasons. I adore the new decorations and never stress about any of it. Everyone in the house enjoys the change up. We don't do anything in our house to impress other people. It just makes everything feel exciting and different. We tend to be homebodies so the change is nice. Most of what I have is thrifted and I like to see it again and again. We also change our menu for the season also.

Your home is so beautiful, warm and inviting. I have enjoyed decorating and wanted it to look pretty but always ready for people to enjoy for family gatherings and make memories. Now that I am a senior in a smaller place with less large family gathering I still decorate to make our home special and cozy just for us. It’s important to feel your home is a soft place to fall.
I am not decorated yet for fall, I minimize my fall . I keep it up till after thanksgiving, than I start on Christmas which I go over the top. I decorate for the joy and how it’s makes me feel. I personally would love to see more of this, hearing the boys in the background, preparing you dinner, just a normal day.

I also raised 3 boys a blended family almost 40 years ago, 12 years later after getting married welcomed a daughter. She just got married in July. So I know what the days are like, but enjoy everyone of them, it goes fast, we now have 8 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Take care looking forward to next video lovely person.
Your home is beautiful and so inviting. I love to decorate. Maybe to much I'm trying to downsize on my decor. Its been hard because i love decorate ,but I'm getting older and going up and down a ladder is getting challenging at times. Arthritis in my knees. I have 4 grandbabies ages 13 to 2 and sometimes my house looks like a tornado went through but i try to remind myself they don't stay little for long. Enjoy thise precious years. I have 3 small lamps in my kitchen and its small not a lot of counter space but the lamps give it more light and make it more cozy. I don't get a lot of nature light, thats why i love my lamps. 😊
This is my first visit with you...where have you been? I LOVE your house!!! You have done a fabulous job making it what you love. We started out in a house built in 1902, making every inch of it what we loved. Then, after 17 years there, my husband's work changes caused us to move--just 30 miles away, but to a different house, much more modern, this "new" one built in the mid-70s, but still another "old house" for the late 90s when we moved! I loved this video! I also have a hard time with a lot of seasonal decorating because it can feel like clutter to me - which I find easily overwhelms me. I love decorating with sugar pumpkins because I know that once I’m ready to pack up fall I purée the pumpkins for baking. 😁 it was nice to see the real life clips at the end. I am in Florida, and it is still in the 90's, so it's kind of hard for me to get into the fall season just yet. I did purchase a small straw cinnamon scented broom to hang in my kitchen for now. I have been so sick and overwhelmed with work that I have not decorated for years. I took some time off this month and I ordered a new decorative pillow and a knit throw for a chair, a placemat to set a wooden bowl of artificial pears on a desk in the living room. I found a very beautiful knit, olive green pumpkin which I will include in the decorations. Lastly, I'm tossing some very old artificial flowers and replacing them with some gold branches.
what i love in most american homes in this kind of suburb is that they dont use tall gates!!! it looks open and breathable and i feel welcomed just by looking at it.. ❤❤

Your introduction about "Why decorate for the seasons?" is interesting. I don't really decorate for the seasons. . I have certain things that I love in place and feel no desire to add more. An exception is Christmas, when of course, there is a need to make it festive. What I do, is try to have fresh flowers and branches in the house. Artificial foliage does not appeal to me. So in the spring I have tulips, daffodils and hyacinths. In the summer there are sun flowers, black eye Susans and other things from the garden. In the fall I bring in colourful autumn leaves and dried stems again from the garden. Christmas is a time for real poinsettias, pine and holly. Throughout the winter I pickup inexpensive bouquets from the grocery store. Fresh flowers brighten my life and I don't feel the need to add more.

I was born in late 50's and my Mom was a stay at home Mom... raised 7 kids. She cleaned all the time - constant laundry. But she had a plague with a Chinese proverb that hung on the wall in the kitchen - that said "My home is clean enough to be healthy, and dirty enough to be happy". We didn't have alot growing up - but always love in the home. Taught morals and respect for others. Would not trade it for anything. Your boys will always remember the love in their home.

I am now a grandma and both of my daughters get so discouraged sometimes with their homes never looking clean and neat. I loved the tour. I'm sure it is a lot of work getting it all picked up for a tour. I have been following along for a long time and always love what you share. I am not a young mom but if I was in this day of so much to see online, it would be hard not to feel discontent with all the people buying so much. I enjoy decor and interior design so i watch a lot of videos, but it can get to be overload at times. Esp with fall and christmas a lot of people buy tons of things and fill their homes. I can appreciate it, however there is beauty and calmness in a scaled back approach too. I appreciate this video and tour for this reason. You don't have to buy all the latest decor to have a beautiful and welcoming home.

I love the changing seasons. I adore the new decorations and never stress about any of it. Everyone in the house enjoys the change up. We don't do anything in our house to impress other people. It just makes everything feel exciting and different. We tend to be homebodies so the change is nice. Most of what I have is thrifted and I like to see it again and again. We also change our menu for the season also.

Your home is so beautiful, warm and inviting. I have enjoyed decorating and wanted it to look pretty but always ready for people to enjoy for family gatherings and make memories. Now that I am a senior in a smaller place with less large family gathering I still decorate to make our home special and cozy just for us. It’s important to feel your home is a soft place to fall.

I am not decorated yet for fall, I minimize my fall . I keep it up till after thanksgiving, than I start on Christmas which I go over the top. I decorate for the joy and how it’s makes me feel. I personally would love to see more of this, hearing the boys in the background, preparing you dinner, just a normal day.

Hello I really enjoyed your lovely video as always. Your home very beautiful and I love the touches of fall simple elegance. I also raised 3 boys a blended family almost 40 years ago, 12 years later after getting married welcomed a daughter. She just got married in July. So I know what the days are like, but enjoy everyone of them, it goes fast, we now have 8 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Take care looking forward to next video lovely person.

Your home is beautiful and so inviting. I love to decorate. Maybe to much I'm trying to downsize on my decor. Its been hard because i love decorate ,but I'm getting older and going up and down a ladder is getting challenging at times. Arthritis in my knees. I have 4 grandbabies ages 13 to 2 and sometimes my house looks like a tornado went through but i try to remind myself they don't stay little for long. Enjoy thise precious years. I have 3 small lamps in my kitchen and its small not a lot of counter space but the lamps give it more light and make it more cozy. I don't get a lot of nature light, thats why i love my lamps. 😊

This is my first visit with you...where have you been? I LOVE your house!!! You have done a fabulous job making it what you love. We started out in a house built in 1902, making every inch of it what we loved. Then, after 17 years there, my husband's work changes caused us to move--just 30 miles away, but to a different house, much more modern, this "new" one built in the mid-70s, but still another "old house" for the late 90s when we moved! It has gone through just as many changes as our first home, but it still lacks the character of our first home.❤ Thx for sharing, young mother/wife! I'll see you again!🎉

I love decorating with sugar pumpkins because I know that once I’m ready to pack up fall I purée the pumpkins for baking. 😁 it was nice to see the real life clips at the end. I am in Florida, and it is still in the 90's, so it's kind of hard for me to get into the fall season just yet. I did purchase a small straw cinnamon scented broom to hang in my kitchen for now. I have been so sick and overwhelmed with work that I have not decorated for years. I took some time off this month and I ordered a new decorative pillow and a knit throw for a chair, a placemat to set a wooden bowl of artificial pears on a desk in the living room. I found a very beautiful knit, olive green pumpkin which I will include in the decorations. Lastly, I'm tossing some very old artificial flowers and replacing them with some gold branches.

Your introduction about "Why decorate for the seasons?" is interesting. I don't really decorate for the seasons. . I have certain things that I love in place and feel no desire to add more. An exception is Christmas, when of course, there is a need to make it festive. What I do, is try to have fresh flowers and branches in the house. Artificial foliage does not appeal to me. So in the spring I have tulips, daffodils and hyacinths. In the summer there are sun flowers, black eye Susans and other things from the garden. In the fall I bring in colourful autumn leaves and dried stems again from the garden. Christmas is a time for real poinsettias, pine and holly. Throughout the winter I pickup inexpensive bouquets from the grocery store. Fresh flowers brighten my life and I don't feel the need to add more.
