This is unbelievable. I was really excited to see a dorama in a similar style where 1920-30's China. You know, the whole gothic, vampire, detective, dark China thing is like a fresh breath of air amongst the other already stale doramas. The actors are unparalleled, the atmosphere is great, the plot is good too. I want to thank the people who made this dorama, because it is wonderful. I wish more people would make something like this!
I kept seeing many comments criticizing Vengo's age. Please don't give him any labels and focus on his acting. I think this drama so far have been a great story. I cannot wait for the next episode.

Personally, im not a fan of huge age gaps and in this drama he looks like he is in 40s while FL in early 20s. He easily looks like her dad. But I would never publicly criticize or defame any actor for my opinion. On the other side, I truly understand and respect your sentiment, but the same people who are defending his age are first ones to criticize if a female lead is even a bit older in age. Now this is extremely hypocritical.

Mi Lan also refers to him as Uncle when he wants her to call him as Gege (“brother” which denotes a more affectionate greeting). Milan like main lead giving him frostiness 😂😂😂

Yes!!! Finally!! Been waiting for this for so long. So glad I can see it now on youtube. It's difficult to see Chinese drama in The Netherlands where I live so I'm really happy 😄 I'm a big fan of Vengo Gao ever since I saw Eternal love of dream. He is an amazing actor and now I can enjoy him playing a vampire. Perfect!

I'm a writer so I can't help but notice that FL is having not only super hearing but also super smell. I think when she fell (😅and she fell on ML so cutely 😅 ) she smelled the dude's gunpowder and when she met mr Yi she felt traces of gunpowder from when he and his subordinate talked 😂...so she gathered she shouldn't arouse suspicion 😅 if she didn't wanna go home 😅😅😅 The FL is very smart 😅 ! She has vampire nose! Also probably is an embodiment of one of the stones... because you get indeed higher quality of other senses when you lose one but nooot like that! ❤❤❤ she's totes adorbs ❤❤❤!

This is an intriguing drama. I don't usually like Republican period dramas because of all the politics. But this drama is a breath of fresh air in this dry spell of Chinese drama. A good story well told and with very good acting by all of the principal cast. Not a lot of action scenes and and what romance there is, is very restrained. The characters are well developed, including the main villain.
finally🎉 wow it had such an interesting plot, loved the mystical atmosphere and off course our amazing vengo gao❤ I guess after Dilraba we finally see another female actress who has chemistry with him 🎉
I think they have good chemistry after seeing their photo shoot together advertising this drama. even through they have chemistry, I will still only ship for Dilraba and Vengo since I am their CP fan...lol

I love the series, as well as the opening credits montage and title credits music. It sets the mood so well...and makes me wonder if the black & white was a deliberate choice or the original intention was for everything to be red.
I remember actor Wang Guan @ 19:05 who starred in the costume drama Goodbye, My Princess as General Pia Zhao, main male lead's ( Li Cheng Yin's) subordinate. His character was both serious and funny. He would not drink alcohol and when he finally did it was so funny to watch. You would have to re-watch/watch the series to understand his character, which was mostly in the 2nd half of the series. But I will always remember him.

Great vampire roles have never been played by young men. Frank Langella was the epitome of dark sexy vampire and he was 38 when he played the movie role.
I like the element of fantasy. I hope she does decide to go to school and make friends. Then ends up marrying the male lead after she has time to know more and has more experience in the world instead of trapped in a room. Like going to famliy social events , learning to dance or singing and braille if they have it. She seems to have superior hearing.

Vengo Gao could be 100 yrs old he'd still be fine as hell. I prefer him to many of the younger actors. He is still fascinating.
