it was fun listening to you describe nearly every single army with positive notes, but its kind of ironic and hypocritical that you took the most basic and over-done possible take on SM players. as someone getting into the hobby late, I felt like picking up the faction that got me interested in the hobby and it gets so old listening to people like you guys whine about it. Some of us also want a faction that receives regular updates and new models as thats exciting. My eyes roll into the back of my head when people think theyre being cute and edgey complaining that the faction GM pushes the hardest is actually popular.

What gets me is the love of the charge, rolling all those dice in melee, and just seeing the bodies hit the floor. The MVP is a Master of Execution as in one game he single handedly wiped out an entire squad of Ksons. I love him more than any other model I own. If I don't win meh. I cant remember who won, but we both resurrected Angron 2 times, killed an entire board but for jackals before turn 4 and had an awesome match. Blood must flow, and oh boy it was a bloodshed. I too get excited when I roll 40 chainsword attacks from zerks, yeah, they might bounce off AoC terminators, but at least 1 of them will give his skull to Khorne. And MoE is a MENACE, people still roll their eyes when he kills a 9w shield captain with 4+ FNP.

I’m a Necron player, started in 6th edition. I was drawn to them due to the colours and culture. I paint mine in the 7th edition Mephrit dynastic colour scheme and I’ve painted a few space marines over the years. I’d say painting a normal Space marine intercessor is so much easier than painting a very detailed Necron HQ. The Necron lore is insane and the book “The Divine and The Infinite” is a great book.
My favourite Necron quote is between a guardsmen and a Necron Lord “Remove yourself from my battlefield before I remove you”
On another note. My friend bullied me with his range back in 8th edition so I picked up a Tau army and painted them as the Vior’la sept . I was drawn to tau because of their similarity to Borderlands Hyperion faction design. The range difference in 8th with titans was brutal.

As a thousand son and space wolf player. . .
I Loved playing thousand sons because of as you said, I open my book of 18+ powers and roll for what I want and it made them feel special and not just an other power armor demon looking army. Also, egyptian looking. But 10th edition. . . I don't even have a line of spells, just some friging range weapons instead. . . Thousand sons of 10th aren't Thousand sons, but Nikea Sons.
Space wolf. It felt good playing vikings, their unique weaponry in 8th, the frost weapons avaible to all wolfguard and characters. Weapon more powerfull than regular marines because they were made to fight astartes and it felt like I was playing the executioners in 9th... I lost the frost weapons. Becoming normal powersword and limited to one frost weapon because it became relics, I lost the most situational psychic power as well, but by the All father did I LOVE to use it. Jaws of the world wolf. Living lightning as well was awsome to play, casting elemental base powers was cool. Now. . . Except for the canine units, they are just some blueberry copy paste whit the primaris crap... where are my Chainsword on all my intercessors GW!? Where are they!! And where are my melee weapons? Where did you hide the glorius melee combat! Only got one friging weapon profile now. Whit all the same crapy stats 5, -1, 1. . . . Sorry for the rant. When I start it is hard to stop. I HATE 10th edition. The baby, no flavor, no options edition.

I started Guard as a history buff and as an infantryman in the army. I had a phase as an AdMech player, because I love the religious steampunk bois, but I've been evolving into a T'au player. I don't like the battlesuits, so I don't play them. With fire warriors and hammerheads and pathfinders marking targets, they can play like Guard with better tactics.
Also, raptors. Cliche, yes, but I love the idea of killing machines that operate as hunting packs...or, hunting cadres, if you will....

i am a t'au fan, it was moreso the hard sci-fi that hooked me, as that is far more appealing to me than the more gothic look of most of 40k. i played in 8th edition, and with the custom sept rules, even as a brand new player i was able to figure out some whacky shit like having a second detachment dedicated purely to having a custom sept rule of increasing weapon range, allowing me to have a squad of crisis suits with triple flamers each that had 12 inch range and could deep strike to within either 8 or 9 inches, i don't quite remember. i remember that and stacking huge swathes of kroot warriors with some fire warriors and rail rifle pathfinders and those kroot warriors somehow taking down a triarch stalker, a couple units of necron warriors, a unit of canoptek wraiths and 3 heavy destroyers single-handedly, all while one of the kroot units got knocked down to 2 models left without losing any leadership tests. i still have no idea what the fuck kind of dice roll drugs those kroot took, but they won me the match.

Dilophosaurus. It's one of my favorites and I think it should have been dubbed "the king of the dinosaurs" reasoning being; it was one of the theropods. When it was around in the Jurassic, it was the top predator and the only thing that would kill a dilophosaurus was another dilophosaurus. So it literally ruled the Jurassic. It wasn't the smartest dinosaur but for creatures being around during this time it was smart for the era. It has a crown so it can be a king.

I like how the thumbnail is supposed to be a contrast between two vastly different players, and then I'm sat here with 2 equally large armies of both terminids and space marines going: ":D"
    Edit:
After watching the video I feel like you nailed the Tyranids but missed two space marine niches. Namely the two reasons I got into space marines as a first army.
    1. They are very approachable. If you are like me and want to do everything, but kinda don't know where to start, space marines is just the easy pick. You'll likely have a different main army at a later point, but if you only have one army, your starter army is also your main army.
    2. If you're into lore, they are one of the easiest factions to write your own lore/chapter for. There's just something about having your own paint scheme and style that just hits home for a lore nerd like me ^^
Also, I feel like you missed a category for sisters as well. Because sisters is one of the most over the top factions in the game. I mean your tank is a literally organ that shoots missiles, with stained glass on the sides. It's ridiculous and awesome at the same time. Where 40k turns everything up to 11, sisters break the knob.
and finally, that was the most heartfelt "hit the like button" I've heard, so of course I'm liking the video ♥
    P.s. Spinosaurus Aegyptiacus

Personally, I started with tyranids because the flyrant and demonically-possesed zoanthrope from the “All Guard Party” fan series was the coolest things ever - I love them (especially my special swarmlord and flyrant) but am somewhat disappointed with the old warriors, gargoyles, and carnifexes aince I was spoiled by the 10th edition range refresh - I’m still upset we lost the Unending Swarm reinforcements, since “endless waves of small bugs supported and led by a few giant monsters” was the faction fantasy for me.
My second army was Orks, because they have fun lore, creative aesthetics that encourage kitbashing, and a generally good-sports vibe where whacky fun comes before winning since “orksies never beaten.” - customizing 80 boyz has been an exhausting task, but I loved kitbashing my lootaz’ deff guns and I’ve been using them as my learning to play faction.
Then I got admech because I love the dunecrawler (looks like an M3 Lee mech and you can get them super cheap on ebay) and the whole tech-thralls obeying monstrous cyborg mechadendrite masters - I think the conformity of their units is a nice pallet cleanser art project after the random clutter of an ork army - I’ve fallen head over heels for Forge World Ryza’s legions and want to get a couple of admech-themed knights painted up as House Sidus to match.
Then a local person sold me their Genestealer army - I love the mutant cult mass uprising theme and was enthusiastically customizing the models but lost steam after the codex launch… might look into them later on in the edition if they start to feel more horde-like or aberrants get buffed enough to make “muscle beach” a fun way to play again.
My drukhari army is the result of Brad from Poorhammer’s video on how much fun you can have kit bashing - specifically the grotesques and cronos - but now I have way too many custom wyches, kabalites, and archons - I took a lot of inspiration from jetblackraider’s art of the Obsidian Rose and Kittokatsu1987’s kitbashes (I’m excited to post my attempts since I’m really happy how Aestra Khromys turned out)
Finally, I got into T’au because I like the utopian idealism angle of the faction’s lore, think that hammerheads are awesome (maybe because I was a World of Tanks player for five years and they resemble the Star Wars prequel hovertanks I loved as a little kiddie), and to speculatively invest in kroot… specifically, because I’m super hype for the eventual, inevitable plastic knarloc resculpt and would love to see a big kroot hawk model eventually (lean into the James Cameron Avatar stuff).
    And that’s about it.
Oh, my favorite “dinosaur” was never specific, but I always loved how mosasaurus looked, though I also bounced between Utahraptor, Quetzalcoatalus, and Therizinosaurus - though now I adore Spinosaurus because the meme of it constantly being reinvented is hilarious.
    Pour one out for Troodon.
No longer a real species, but hella boss RIP

If it isn’t already apparent, I’m the kind of autist who gets hyper-invested in their interests but has trouble picking favorites lol

Ill give my takes too cos why not, enjoy the engagement.
Ill also quickly preface with I own 15 of the armies with some I've double dipped in factions like I am doing both Ultramar Auxillia Guard and Armageddon Steel Legion. So ill be heavily biased towards interpretations of armies I love.
Codex Space Marines - You've either been playing since Rouge Trader and are deathly loyal to your army or you just fucking love big dudes in power armour. Bonus is also that you are new to the Hobby and took the sensible route in. I have an Ultramarines Army mostly because my dad played UM in Rouge Trader so when he showed me how to paint with my brand new Assault on Black Reach box he bought blue paint, I'm still very loyal to these boys in blue. (I do wish I could give a take on each major Codex Space Marines chapter or at least the First Founding legions but that would take forever so ill just go with armies that get rule books)
Black Templars - You are either super religious, a medieval history buff or hate Matt Ward Space Marines and went as far from Ultramarine as you could. I personally started to gain a liking for them because I'm a medieval history buff writing my dissertation on swords AND I'm very religious.
Blood Angels - You either like Vampires as a tale of a cursed Noble doomed to a tragic fate or you like just demolishing shit fast and brutal, which one you lean more towards may lead you to successors like the Flesh Tearers. I also have a BA army but theyre Flesh Tearers, I like the tragic angle but love the Brutality of the Flesh Tearers.
Dark Angels - More medieval history buff but of a later period, big fans of mystery and the idea of Knights as a fraternal order as opposed to a Crusading force of warriors.
Deathwatch - You love the tacticool shit, you also couldnt decide on a space marines army so you wanted them all. youre also very upset (and rightfully so) that you dont have an army anymore.
Grey Knights - You love Paladins and other types of magically enhanced warriors, you also made a sensible choice since they're very cheap.
Space Wolves - You REALLY got into the viking trend and have probably made mead, you also might just really dig wolves.
Sisters - You're either religious, like the whole "warrior woman" thing or are really into Gothic themes. I also own Sisters, Nuns IRL are already really inspiring and cool people BATTLE NUNS are HARDCORE.
Custodes - all 3 of you left playing Custodes just really like your Golden boys, you saw space marines and thought "what if they were more skilled" you also really like Henry Cavill or like having a cheap army. I have custodes mostly because my dad bought me them one Christmas, theyre cool models and fun to paint.
Mechanicus - I've gotta just agree with the video, you're big brain, like cyberpunk and steampunk and are also LOADED with cash.
Agents of The Imperium - Refugee Deathwatch players or want to fuck around with a silly army.
Imperial Guard - You love 80s and 90s action movies and sci fi movies, you probably quote Starship Troopers multiple times a game, You either love modern history or 20th century history, you may have also served in the Armed Forces yourself, The warthunder thing is also almost certainly true, You also play Hoi4. Bonus: if you play Krieg you're sick of people thinking its WW2 inspired. This is also an Army I have. I started guard cos tanks are cool, I fell in love with the guard because the Indomitable Human Spirit will make me roll that 4+ and tanks are cool. I chose Ultramar Auxillia because they have that Roman Legionnaire feel even more than the Ultramarines do also because I was in a GW shop and was eyeing up the old Start Collecting! Imperial Guard box but was apprehensive because i didnt want to buy more paints than i already had (I only had Ultramarines at this point) and the staff member asked what was stopping me buying the box, I told him the paint thing, he asked what paints I have, he told me about the Auxilia, I bought the box. I also like Steel Legion because mechanised infantry with a ww2 desert look fucks so hard.
Knights - I agree with what you guys said, you got a knight to attach to your army or as a project and then realised the little knights do better in game then all of a sudden you have a knights army. The same goes for Imperial and Chaos knights, though Chaos Knights players love the thematic Kitbash where Imperial Knights players love the thematic paint job. I only have one Imperial Knight but thats because i took my other two and made them Chaos knights with some kitbashing because i love the build.
Daemons - again i agree with you guys either AoS player forced to play 40k or its similar to Knights, you got some Daemons to support your CSM force and accidentally ended up with 2000 pts of Daemons too, the latter is more likely to be mono-god, the latter also happened to me with Khorne Daemons and my World Eaters.
Codex CSM - You almost certianly didnt start out this way, you were slowly corrupted over years of service to a loyalist force and now love the freedom of being openly evil, you also HATE trim. Codex CSM is my largest army and what id call my Main, my warband is a hybrid Night Lords Word Bearers warband, I was Loyal for so long the temptation of Chaos took me and led me to the most evil cunty CSM possible, the Night Lords.
Emperors Children - They have an index they count. You're Salty about being last of the 4 specific legions, your humour is either super refined or "haha funny sex", unsuspecting body horror is a big thing for you and you probably like to show off a bit.
Death Guard - You either got in with a buddy during 8th or are into more traditional body horror, you love the tough resilience of a never ending pestilence and are probably a more traditional wargamer.
Thousand Sons - It's Wizard time motherfucker, Fireball! You love mages, you aren't super fussed about the Tzeentch look either way you just fucking love magic, you play fantasy games pure mage.
World Eaters - you already know, World Eaters players are ork players for Chaos. The Nails are biting. I also own World Eaters, Charges are fun, Angron is a sad character, give Lord Invocatus his fly keyword back,
Eldar - You either are a meta chaser or really like clean sleek looks. You like that your race is this snobby but absolutely fucked faction just trying to maintain reputation and survive.
Dark Eldar - Get help. You might also be a Goth or really like Pirates and Pirate Ships.
Genestealer Cults - You are big brain but like guerrilla warfare and insurgency tactics, you might also be a fan of reading into revolutions and collectivist action. I own GSC because what better way to basically play guard but insurgents.
Leagues of Votann - you played too much deep rock galactic.
Necrons - You started in 9th, you want an easy to paint army, you like the undead, you are grouchy. I have a necron army because i saw a Sithcron paint scheme and wanted it.
Orks - you already know what an ork player is like so i wont waste your time. I have an Ork army, they are themed off Coalition forces during the 90s and 2000s in the middle east, i got orks because theyre very 40k and very fun and easy going.
Tau - You like anime and mechas. You might also be a user of r/Sigmarxism... You also might like Halo and see them as the Covenant in 40k. I got into them as an army because the Farsight model fucks and im a sucker for anything that has a feeling of traditional Japanese art. (as a side note do yourself a favour and look up traditional Catholic Japanese art, some of it goes so hard)
AND FINALLY NIds - You started in 10th, or REALLY love the bug thing, like you think bugs are cool and that the gaunts are cute.

I started guard because of dawn of war dark crusade when I was like 10-11 because 400 guys spamming grenade launchers was absolutely hilarious. I also have tended to notice a lot of military veterans just so happen to also play guard. (Like me and 3 other military friends of mine and then my store LGS like 6 veterans all who play guard).
