God bless you and your family!
Nice ride! These Legendary Land Cruisers with the naturally aspirated V8s are the ultimate overlanders, to carry you to the end of time. When Toyota & Lexus started dropping in smaller engines with turbos, I was sad. It signaled the beginning of the end of greatness.
Toyota as well as all the automakers are not moving to turbo 4s and other engines because they want to do so, it’s because all the eco commies in charge in the US and other Western countries are mandating these ridiculous emissions and fuel economy regulations. I keep telling people, if you want to change it, you need to get vote these politicians out of office!
Time will tell. It’s possible the new engines are better and longer lasting. We don’t know yet
Not just Toyota, but every car manufacturer. These are government mandate, not a decision Toyota made to mess with a recipe that works.
Congrats I just bought a new to me 2016 "regular" Land Cruiser with a lot more miles. Same black color. Im loving it so far. I'm in Northern NY. I also have a 2000 Land Cruiser which is fun to drive.
I 100% approve of your recent purchase. I love the mix of luxury and practical off-roading parts (such as heated rear leather seats with rubber mud mats).
I own a 100 series Cruiser and I'm going to tell you that you made the right choice.
I’m happy for you! I have a 2021 that I have taken on three trips around the country and a 4th starting May 1st. You can go on almost any road , drive for 8-10 hours and not be worn out… so quiet and comfortable! I really like the Westcott design rock sliders and roof racks! Buy a 5th bronze wheel and do 5 tire rotation’s! A long range fuel tank is a good option as well. A 12.5 gallon fits above the spare and will reduce range anxiety when cruising off road! Have fun!
Good choice. I bought my 2019 new five years ago. Keeping forever. Averaging 15.7 mpg mix city & hwy since new.
I like the older stuff too. It’s just so simple and comforting. My friend drives an XC90 and he needs me to adjust the climate through the infotainment screen when he’s driving.
Get yourself an EC Offroad carplay module and you'll have carplay on your LC. Works slick, still can access all the factory stuff.
As the owner of (2) 27-year-old Land Cruisers and an 18-year-old GX, I appreciate being able to work on my vehicles myself.
Hi Ben great choice. I picked up a white LC HE one day after you bought yours. The engine runs so smooth and quiet when driving easy, that it almost feels like an electric vehicle, with the irony of being quite the opposite. Love it.
Any regrets on going with the 200 over possibly getting the new LC? I am considering the 200 HE as well but not sure if I should just go with the new one when it comes out?
The "Land Cruiser" that they are bringing to the U.S. is known as Land Cruiser Prado everywhere else. 300 Land Cruiser isn't coming to U.S.
@@jancker06 such a great question. Or even the gx550 cross-shop.
One factor in my mind, which I have not heard many people openly talk about, is asking why the LC msrp is 50% higher than msrp on those other two choices. Does only the LC have the thicker underbody components? Articles compare features but don’t compare how overbuilt it is or is not. We know the LC200 is way overbuilt. Is the cheaper new LC250 or is the gx550 just as overbuilt and over strengthened if starting msrp is much less? The extra cost had to go somewhere.
I own a 22’ Tundra and that caused me to buy an old school 24’ 4Runner so I know why you did what you did. 😊
Excellent video. Just bought the wife a 15 LX570. It’s a tank. We love it.
I have a Silver 2021 LC HE. I bought it new in December 0f 2021 for below MSRP. I’ve put over 50K miles on it so far, and have taken it everywhere. Did the Alpine Loop last summer. I have Bud Built Rock Sliders and Skid Plates on it, and BFK2’s. That is all I’ve done to it. A few recommendations. You can turn off the auto back tailgate with a button below the steering wheel on the right, and close it by hand. It is way easier and faster. I use a back pad since I think the seats are kinda uncomfortable. I never ever use ECT. It’s fast enough without it, and everything you can do to save gas is a plus, cause it drinks it like water.
The GX is an LC Prado. The LX600 is the LC 300 in Lexus trim. Just so you know.
The HE was more new by the way. It deleted the stock running boards, the fridge, and the third row. So you paid more for less. Protecting the paint is a good idea with black. Which is why I bought Silver.
I will never sell this car. It will last the rest of my life. II hope you keep yours. As far as a GX or your Jeep. The LC will beat all of them off road. Trust me. It is a Tractor on the trail.
I have a ‘21. Most comfortable vehicle I have ever owned. Don’t break your windshield, 2k to replace with an OEM. 😞
Nice tank! That thing is awesome!
Great choice. This is a very solid car. Like a best friend. The real deal. Maybe not the most flashy fancy kind of person, but someone who will come when you call them at 3am in the middle of the night and you need help. Someone who knows how to make fire on an island. Someone who will show up when you pack for your move. This LC has this kind of personality.
I would get rid of the chrome (at least the grill), but other than that... this is a great reliable ride. Congrats.
Those views are crazy! Nice truck too!
Woot! Woot! I love the Land Cruiser and it's Veeee Eighty Goodness. 😍 You're seriously leaning into that Grizzly Adams look, it matches the truck. 😀 Thanks for posting!
6:20 that charging port is for Wired CarPlay. I had that in my ‘22 T4R TRD OR-P and my ‘23 Tacoma TRD OR
I had to like this video before dropping a comment
Congratulations once again on your Landcruiser purchase
Congratulations and happy Superbowl.
I snagged myself a 2021 model Landcruiser back in June '21, and let me tell you, she's already clocked in 50,000 miles. Now, I've gone ahead and booked me a slot for the 2024 Landcruiser, but I'm kinda on the fence about it. Nevertheless, I reckon I'm leaning towards sticking with my 200 series for now. Ain't had a lick of trouble with her yet, and she's been running smooth as Tennessee whiskey.
Oh man this is exactly what I’m thinking. I have a 4 runner and put a deposit down on the new LC but I really want the 200 series and think that’s what I should go with.
Protect your frame with fluid film
I am jealous brother, enjoy your lovely new ride 👏
Awesome LC! It’s a legendary vehicle for sure. Enjoy!
Ben, solid choice sir!! Kudos.
As for getting 90% of a G Wagon for half the price, that is the Curve Of Diminishing Returns.
You get to a point where the cost outweighs the benefits. And the G Wagon is the prime example of that principle.. Again, Kudos!
Wonderful video. Congratulations. Prices will always hold for a 200 series. 3300 cars sold in a given year. You could go months without seeing one on the road. The last V8 true land cruiser sold in the United States will always be sought after And sell at a premium people most likely will hold onto them for the long-term. Congrats again enjoy your new vehicle.
Ben, nice to see you tap the soles of your boots before getting into the truck. Helps keep things clean. There's no substitute for cubic inches (and a V8).
Congratulations on your new ride! Wise choice! The Land Cruiser 200 series is equivalent to a Lexus LX not GX (we have the old GX).
I 100% approve of your recent purchase!!!!
Congrats, that is a fine-tuned machine!
I wanted so much to like the LC200. I only have room for 1 vehicle and swapping my 2nd gen raptor for this was unfathomable. Two half day test drives, it was comfortable, slow, boring to drive, dated inside, got horrific MPG/range but seemed extremely well built. I know some people want to drive a brand new old vehicle forever and this is perfect for them. I drive under 10k miles a year and am happy to drive something FUN for 6 years and get something else fun then. :D
So nice, man! Congrats
You can do a face-lift to L300..my dad did it to his 1999 landcruiser and its dope
Very similar to what I think about my '19 Sequoia TRD Sport and my '07 Tundra.
If you can find someone who does vinyl wrap very well, wrap the chrome in black... good thing is it peels off when need be.
@benhardy Lucid Wraps in Denver is really good from what I hear. Not sure if Summit Detail (they posted on YT a lot before) around Park City are still doing it but I think they did vinyl wrapping
I also love my old school 2024 4 Runner 4.0 liter 5 spd!!!!
I'm all for the new Lexus but nothing beats those Landcruiser
It’s a nice looking vehicle, but definitely do a chrome delete and new tires. I do like rims. Good choice Ben
You and I think the same. I have the 'last of it's kind' 2023 GX 460
I love the gx550 on paper and from what I've seen on youtube, but I love the Land Cruiser in person! I would much rather have the vehicle you have over a gx550 to be honest.
Awesome vehicle man! Wish I could afford one.... at least I have the mini version (4runner)
congrats! i bought a 2019 with 70 k miles 4 month ago silver color and i love it. i don't like the lexus look on a landcruiser. love my car and i prefer it over the new Prado
"The last of the V8s".... Bulletproof vehicle, congrats on the purchase! :)
I think you scored finding one with only 12K+ miles. I just looked briefly on AutoTrader & there are only 75 LandCruisers ('20 models or newer & all trim levels & colors) listed for sale nationwide. Only two have a hair over 12K miles & one has 8,800+ miles. The rest of them have way more miles.
These corner stitchings goes fast . ..
Same reasons why I went with a 21 GX. It's proven platform that will last me a long time.
I agree with you.....i'd rather have Old school than deal with GX electronics which is not dependable
The Lexus LX570 is a Land Cruiser with a little more creature comforts and can typically be had for less than a Land Cruiser of the same year.
I’m in 100% agreement with you, Ben, on your choice. Well done! We think a lot alike as I picked up a 2021 LX 570 with 24K on the odometer last year. It not cheap but it was the last year before the LX600 with the 6 turbo and all the gadgets. My wife loves this tank and how it feels having 6000 lbs going down the road with the hydraulic steering. To top it off, I just picked up a new 4Runner limited yesterday before they change that. Now I have two long term vehicles. Only thing left to do is rust proof the new 4Runner. Thanks for another great video. Keep up the great work. Your wife was very astute with her comments when she drove the Land Cruiser in a previous video. All the best!
Sorry, had to chuckle a little at the end when you said this is the car you could keep for 10 or 15 years ;). I do hope you keep this one though. It is going t get harder and harder to find vehicles like the 2020 Land Cruiser Heritage edition now that everything is moving to smaller 4 and 6 cylinder turbo charged engines.
I love my 2014 landcruiser 200. My son is getting it in a couple years as his 1st car. I'm holding out hope on landcruiser 300 in the US. I will be 1st in line. Please take my money. If anyone at Toyota is reading this please consider 300 series in USA. There are many folks like me. I cannot drive a Lexus on a job site bar none.
Love this
Dream rig. Just like the 5th gen 4R, this is the last of the best era.
Hey Ben, I also have a black 200 but in the 2010 vintage with an OME lift and 33s. 230k miles and still runs like a sewing machine…
cant go wrong with a Landcruiser. Great looking vehicle. should prove to be very reliable.
That’s my dream car! Old fashion good v8 forever lasting engineering
I am happy that I will buy a fully loaded Lexus GX550 Overtrail Plus anyway.
I got the GX550 on my wish list, My 2022 MDX ASPEC is $60K, a 550 Premium is $65K I might switch even though I don't need the 4X4 since I only do city and highway
I don't get the whole "chrome removal" thing. Looks better to me with than blacked out and blended in.
The chrome on the heritage edition is a slightly more smoked chrome then none HE.
How does it drive compared to the Nissan Armada?
Is the engine you get in the US only the 5.7 litre V8 petrol? We get a 4.5 litre V8 twin turbo diesel engine in Australia.
makes sense if you keeping it for long time.
I saw this thing 2 weeks ago at the Wahlberg dealership. Broke my neck from my Sequoia 😂😂
Ben starting to look like that guy on my morning commute whos at the freeway offramp asking for change.
Where did you get this? Are they even selling these yet?
Lucky guy! This Land Cruiser is so hard to find specially in my area plus with low mileage, dream car right here 💯❤
This is the only vehicle I do not want a third row. Well… all Toyota/Lexus SUV third rows are crap except for the Sienna but… this is built to last until 9808 AC…
The best vehicle ever built by the hands of men!
It’s an oldie but a goodie!
Congrats…..❤
Hey was this car in Wilkes Barre Pa there's a motorworld tag on it.
Hands down one of the worst dealerships in Pennsylvania. Their only use is their large inventory selection to test drive what you like.
@@joedrumm6788 there aren't any good dealerships in this area, every time I go online the way better deals are 2 hours away from here.
I agree. I just bought a new LX600 in December at Bobby Rahal in Mechanicsburg. Probably the best buying experience I have ever had. I owned a ‘21 LC200 HE. I loved the LC, but the new LX is superior in every conceivable way….except the power train.
Great Car! The only thing I wish it had was Apple CarPlay :(
i'd have a so called boring vehicle BUT it's dependable, doesn't break down etc
Old school vehicles always win
What year is it?
Are you worried about parts availability in like ten years? I wonder how well Toyota handles it on discontinued cars
I am in the market of either a lx570 or gen 2 raptor. I mostly drive city roads. Any recommendations?
You should add the beatsonic apple carplay unit to the OEM screen
Amazing car, beautiful, we don’t have this in Florida brother 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻this is an excellent car and very very reliable car one of the best.
Anyone go from a 4th gen v8 4runner or gx470 to a 200 series? My v8 4runner has nearly 200k and I am really considering one of these.
What year ?
What year is this?
Use 5w40 oil
Last of the V8 Interceptors!
Hey Ben does Southtowne imports car as well? I if buy the same model in Dubai and import here will they help me with the paperwork?
Wish we could get this in Canada. The LX just ain’t as cool
I don't care for the 3rd row seats. I really like this one.
Very nice truck. I like the 2024 body style better but this is still a very nice truck.
@@BenHardyCars I have not seen it in person yet. Only online. I like the GX550 Overtrail in Earth color.
Land Cruiser FTW great choice enjoy!
I want one
Gotta think that your Land Cruiser is on the same chassis as the Sequoia. Sweet truck, though.
It is not. The LC 200 only shares a chassis with the LX 570. Both are built in their own factory in Japan. Every single piece is over engineered. They even made improvements in 2021( the final production year. The Sequoia is a good vehicle, but not in the same class.
Always loved the Land Cruiser but no balls to pay the going price. Each time I pump a near empty tank full on my Tundra, I play the Final Cost Guessing Game. 💀. ....LOL!
Great choice Ben! I prefer the V8 over a turbo charge V6. Not a hybrid either. Less moving parts is always better.
It's the perfect large SUV for anyone who cares about long term reliability! Awesom purchase.
