The grinding you did was awesome. I would advise in the future having a stream of water trickling over your wheel and glass to further prevent breaking risks. The best way I’ve found (and it’s a recycle) is to take a 2 liter empty soda bottle with its lid. Poke a small hole with a sewing needle or pen a bit below the middle of the bottle. Fill it up with water and cap tightly. When you want to have water trickling out just unscrew the cap slightly and aim! It works great. I use this when I’m cutting ceramics or glass.
What a great idea! Especially for those of us who don’t have a sink to work over. This could be taken outside to wherever it was needed. Thanks for the tip! 😊❤
Thank you so kindly Steve. I use to do alot of etching 30 years ago. The product I used was a etching cream however it is a dark brown color. Very caustic. I checked it last week and still works fantastic. I googled it and etching cream does not expire. I will get my bottle cutter out and get back into etching. Take care and keep creating your wonderful videos ❤
That's pretty cool! I love the dragons! I prefer the Armor etch myself. It's smoother and a lot less work. I would have trouble doing it with the Dremel because of the arthritis in my hands.
Thanks I watch your videos all the time..... from Trinidad 🇹🇹 right now I am doing a class glass engraving and etching you just proved me right in the cutting of the bottle as well as engraving patterns 😅
Great video, Steve - I've had Armor Etch in my wishlist for aggeess, kept um'ing and uh'ing, but I gotta admit, it does produce some wicked results. Thanks for sharing!
Wow, things have got more technical now. I used to cut bottles years ago and the equipment then was very basic and the results very hit or miss. Loved this set.
Love the results you've achieved on both of these glasses! I've never tried bottle cutting or etching, so it will be an adventure! Thank you Steve 😊!!!
I got one it works ok. As long as you get temp of water right. I used running water. Cold from tap. I tried to make wine glasses from top but execution needs work but then life got in way. So you have empowered me to have another go.
Thanks for this video ❤ ive been cutting bottles for a while now but never thought about etching them so think ill give this a go with the armour etch so thanks for the inspiration xx
Using the marker to show where to use the dremel was a game changer for me. I used to leave the stencil on - such a mess. Totally makes sense and makes me feel dumb for not thinking of it. 😂
This is cool. I've been seeing folks using a turner to make beach wine glasses with resin & sometimes little metal turtle charms. I'd love to see you try it out for us. Especially if you can find a good food safe resin. Although you don't put it up near the lip too.
Hi, love the bottles do you think it would do square bottles or would you need something else to cut them? Looking forward to watching more of your videos the mistake ones and the masterpiece ones Sue 😊😅😊
You’re a bit late. I just took all my empty wine bottles to my brother for his elderberry wine this year. Guess the only thing for me to do now is drink more wine while rearranging my craft supplies so when the bottle cutter arrives I’ll have a place to put it. Dang. The things I do in the name of crafting. 😉😋😂💕

Love the look. I have both the armour etch and a dermal so here I go 😂
Have fun.
love watching you being creative!
Both are nice.
I think if you would do a second paste, it would be more defined.
Very interesting project.
I will try that when I make the candle sticks out the tops of the bottles 😀
Gotta say I love teckwrap too but I’ve never imagined doing glass cutting so thank you for sharing and giving me pause for thought
Thanks Steve, that was really interesting & informative. Good to know the 2 different types of engraving & what else the dremel can do.
They turned out pretty 👍
It is a lot of fun to engrave in glass 😁

Yeah the Armour Etch, is such a brilliant product.
@@SteveMcDonaldCrafting I'm hoping to get some soon. I really want to do some etching!

I like the dremmel the best. Its art. It looks nice.
I purchased a bottle cutter like that one. I haven't used it yet, though. Thanks for the tutorial!
Thanks Steve always wanted to try this going to order one so thank you

With the tops you could make a wooden holder and use them for herbs or small plants, great videos keep up the good work x
Love these!
You can use rubber polish bits to smooth the engraving
Really cool Steve

I think the big fat flat pink stone bit of u have 1 with your dremmel would smooth out the dragon u etched with it 😉
i wonder why some ppl use the rubber rings and some dont. what are they for?
I want to know how you cut them in half long ways instead of just around like another glass
Put a colored piece of paper inside the glass and you will be able to see the outline better
