    This is great... A lot of people these days are trying so hard to find happiness, while in this video you see Mr. Piper simply finding great joy in the taco bar!! When you find joy in Jesus, you aren't searching for happiness in this world. Therefore little things most people wouldn't even think twice about (like the 3.99 taco bar) can just be something to truly enjoy.

    Man! John Piper is such an amazing man of God. Just seeing how much he loves God is beautiful. Plus he seems like such a down-to-earth guy when he talked about how he rests, and how a big part of it is enjoying God.

    No one can fully comprehend God. Because He is greater...the creation can never fully understand the creator, it's the other way around. Isn't that the way we want it? If we fully understood God that would mean we would be equal to, or greater than Him. If we were equal to God or greater, we would see Him as equal or lesser, and we would never worship Him. Not understanding every aspect of God and His Word is a good thing, that is one way, out of many, that we know He is truly who He says He is.

    Thank you for the verses. The passage shows that Jesus did not come to abolish the Law, but to fulfill it because, as the Scriptures that I gave you before, show that we cannot fulfill the Law, but Jesus could and did.
    Concerning verse 18, this verse shows us that when Jesus said this there were still not part of the Law fulfilled. i.e. His death, His resurrection, etc. Verse 19, prompts us to look at the previous passages because we are to lives those out, that is the Sermon on the Mount.

  • @Darwinsman

    No, he didn't, but he had to have supported it, because he stated quite categorically that all the old laws were to be strictly adhered to and anyone who didn't or who encouraged others not to were to be considered the lowest of the low.

    3:21 can John Piper be my grandpa?

  • @Darwinsman
    @Darwinsman 12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    1/2. I can easily give you the scripture quote. The Capitals are mine.
    It's Matthew 5: 17-19
    17. Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I HAVE NOT COME TO ABOLISH THEM BUT TO FULFIL THEM.
    18. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, NOT THE SMALLEST LETTER, NOT THE LEAST STROKE OF A PEN, WILL BY ANY MEANS DISAPPEAR FROM THE LAW until everything is accomplished. Cont'd.

  • @_R2
    @_R2 12 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Well Jesus fulfilled the law through His life and ministry because no human can fulfill the requirements of God to be wholly righteous and holy before God (Romans 10:4; Galatians 3:23-25). That is why Jesus had to die for our sins, because we cannot be morally perfect in God's eyes. So Jesus fulfilled it on our behalf and took our place on the cross for those who believe.
    Can you elaborate on the last part of your comment about the lowest of the lows, maybe give me a Scripture, please?

  • @Darwinsman

    I've read all of the bible, many times over the last 60 yrs. I have many bibles, including interlinear Greek Old and New Testaments.
    As you said, it's all in the interpretation. Like saying:
    "The Devil is in the Detail."
    That is the problem. Only by fantastic efforts of mental gymnastics of interpretation and re-interpretation can the bible be made to have any sense. And every one of the 30,000 flavours of Christianity thinks that their particular interpretation is the true one.
    I rest my case.

    • @ChatteNoireBlanche

  • @Darwinsman
    @Darwinsman 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Of course no-one understands the whole bible and, to paraphrase your own words, that alone does not make it NOT the word of god, but after nearly 60 yrs of reading it, if it is the word of god, then he cannot be the omniscient being that his followers believe him to be. The Bible is riddled with so many contradictions and inaccuracies, it is less cohesive than your average novel.
    However, if you accept god doesn't exist, then the Bible makes perfect sense, It is just a book of myths and legends.

  • @Darwinsman

    How convenient.
    It still amazes me that the only way christians can make their bible have any sense at all, is by indulging in fantastic mental gymnastics of wild interpretation and re-interpretation until it sort of fits what they want to believe.
    They don't seem to get it, but if you start from the premise that god doesn't exist. Everything in the bible makes sense.
    It's just a fictional storybook of myths and legends. No more historically accurate than Homer's Odyssey.

    Nothing is "passing clear" in the bible. It is just a book of myths and legends.
    As for not engaging in mental Gymnastics,
    According to your bible, Jesus himself said he did not come to get rid of the old laws, but to enforce them and anyone who teaches otherwise, like you are doing, would be considered the lowest of the low. Matthew 5:17-19.
    Do you guys ever read all of your bibles, or just the nice bits?
    It must be nice to junk the bits you don't like.
