- 你相信嗎?臺灣有一種鳥就喜歡在這樣的河川地上築巢。看起來像在地上走的燕子，北京話的名字叫做燕鴴，客家話稱牠燕尾砂鳥。
燕鴴是臺灣的夏候鳥，每年四月開始就會從南洋和澳洲飛到臺灣繁殖。
這種鳥很有趣，牠們築巢不喜歡那種雜草叢生的地方，反而喜歡光禿禿石頭遍布又無遮蔽的地上。怎會那麼笨，不怕被人發現嗎?不必擔心，注意看，牠們是不是全身泥褐色，卵也長得像河川地的鵝卵石，所以牠們這樣在地上築巢反而有保護色的作用。
怎麼有一隻同樣喜歡在河川地上築巢的金眶千腳鳥(小環頸鴴)，好端端的會跑過來招惹牠們呢?讓牠的雛鳥嚇到沒地方躲。難道是小環頸鴴認為燕鴴的雛鳥是牠的，所以想要把牠搶回來，真奇怪。
