Desiree Cabrera I was so confused about it too and so we just all went to my parents Airbnb and we had appies and drinks. My parents kindly went and did a Costco haul for meats and cheeses and stuff which was amazing.
My cousin just got married and loved how easy and stress-free our “rehearsal dinner” was that she did the same thing. They rented a room for a couple hours on the campus they got married on and the grooms family left rehearsal early to walk over and prep wings and salads and snacks.
Way more affordable than an actual dinner and it’s nicer to create the mingling atmosphere. We had all our aunts and uncles and grandparents plus the bridal party and their significant others. In my family it was close to 40 people maybe more. But so fun.

I would never shop at David's Bridal after an experience I had when I went for an interview while I was in university looking for a part time job. It was a group interview and one of the first questions was 'what is the first question you ask a bride' and someone responded 'ask them their budget' and they responded with 'NO! Absolutely not, you never ask a bride a budget, the cheapest dress you should pull is $1,000... If she needs something cheaper she will tell you, but you need to get her to fall in love with a pricier dress'. Then they pushed the need to 'up sell everything from accessories to bridesmaids dresses and shoes' etc. Needless to say, they called the next day to offer me a job and I respectfully declined, nor will I spend a dime in that store for my future wedding. I get that its business, but uck...

Wow...that's horrible. I feel the same though...it is a business, and every bride has a right to say "no," but a lot of people (like myself) aren't great with confrontation, and I hate being pressured into things. I will just leave if I feel like I'm being pushed.

      • Sam • the reason for the up sale is b/c in that business you work off commission & you have a sale mark you have to meet.
That’s why I’m sales you’re supposed to keep asking how the customer feels. If she (the original poster) didn’t mentally check out after hearing that, I’m 99% sure that the manager would have went on to teach them how to be assertive without being pushy. (Giving the bride room to say no while also making sure the brides guest don’t take over the appointment.)

As a current consultant I feel like I should give some behind the scenes insight on why things went the way they went.
    1) The commission policy is extremely strict. Bridal stylists have to sell at least $165/hour before they’re even eligible for commission. If they don’t hit that base goal they can get written up and if it happens enough they might even lose their job. Imagine being at the end of a long shift with a bunch of brides and bridesmaids who came into the store with no intention of buying, and now you’re below your goal and won’t make any commission on the sales that you did make. It can be extremely frustrating and some of the stylists are not always so great at hiding it. I’m guilty of it too sometimes.
    2) Management also tracks conversion rates. Every single person that walks through the doors is assigned to a stylist, and if they don’t make the sale then it hurts their conversion. Like sales goals, you can get written up if your conversion is too low.
    3) David’s will literally hire ANYBODY. It is as easy to get a job as a bridal stylist as it is to get any entry level retail job. The difference, as anybody who has been to a bridal store will know, is that bridal sales requires a very particular skill set and not everybody is very good at it. I work with some people who I know to be pushy and fear monger with brides, but it shows in their return/exchange rate. I also know a lot of people who genuinely want to make brides happy because it feels good to make connections and make someone’s day on a very important time in their life. Personally, I’d rather get a 5 star review that mentions me by name than the $10 commission I would get on a wedding dress anyway.
Also, as a note to anybody who has read this long, PLEASE do not order online if you worked with a consultant for any length of time unless you genuinely hated working with them. In my experience, dresses come in at the same time whether they’re ordered online or in store (but we have to tell you the latest date it could come in so that you don’t get angry when it’s not here in a week). Also, if you order online and something goes wrong you can really only work with corporate customer service instead of speaking to a store manager who knows your situation and can more than likely help you more. The only difference is that if you order online that money goes to a million dollar corporation instead of somebody who spent time and energy trying to give you a good experience. Not everybody realizes how disheartening that can be. I had a bride order online in the store after I had spent an hour and a half dressing her from head to toe and giving her individualized attention. I thought we had gotten along great, but one of her friends told her that dresses come in faster if you order online, and she just genuinely didn’t think it would matter. In short, David’s Bridal is definitely not perfect and your experience is HIGHLY dependent on the stylist you work with.

This is really helpful for someone like me who has only been on the customer end of David's Bridal. I've thankfully never had a truly negative experience (occasionally I've had a consultant go rogue for a while to presumably tend to another party, but I've never minded it very much and now I can see why), but I will absolutely keep the in store versus online aspect in mind knowing it can really make a difference for an associate's numbers. Thank you for taking the time to type this out

    • @jamimumma9294
      @jamimumma9294 4 ปีที่แล้ว +17

Thank you for saying this! I've been a stylist with them for 5 years and I love my job, but yeah its commission and it can be stressful. I had a brides mom call to ask the size of the dress her daughter needed bc she was going to order it online after I had spent 3 hours with them (WG and BMs) and the only reason she ended up paying over the phone was bc my manager told her i wouldn't get the credit and they had loved working with me.

    • @thatgirlinredandgold
      @thatgirlinredandgold 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

Ginger Grace I think people just genuinely don’t think about it! It’s so uncomfortable talking about commission because it makes me feel like I’m greedy and only in it for the money, but if a store is tracking the sales of one of their employees, those numbers on what they sell are the only black and white feedback managers get. A stylist could make every single one of their brides feel beautiful and and give them an amazing experience, but if they turn around and order online then management has no way of knowing that and the stylist looks like she’s terrible at her job.

I got my wedding dress on clearance at David's bridal and had a great experience. I also picked my bridesmaids dresses from David's because I have multiple bridesmaids in different states. My maid of honor went to one, and the sales Consultant made a rude comment about her weight and she ended up not even trying anything on. Another bridesmaid went to a different store and had no problems and she is bigger than my maid of honor. It depends on the store for sure

    • @lauren2521
      @lauren2521 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Same. I walked in, went straight to the clearance rack, found my dream dress for 60% off! (I had tried on dresses in other salons previously so I knew what style and size to look for) I got their color guide and circled colors I liked for my bridesmaids- I'm doing a mix-matched look so they can all get a shade, style, and cut that they like, at a price they like, as long as its floor length and a shade of blue. A friend of mine did this when I was one of her bridesmaids and it made finding a dress SO easy and stress-free.

I am a widow (6 years), over 50 and size 18 bride to be. I knew my shopping experience was going to be emotional. It is not easy to find a dress that you can actually try on if you aren’t small. I needed the options this boutique could provide. I stopped in a local Davids Bridal to ask if I could try on ANY dress without my friends and family along so I could have my emotional moment by myself. I explained my situation and they were so kind. I wanted my real dress shopping experience to be fun and I knew I needed to get through this step first. They were so kind and did spend the time to help me find a lovely dress and then gave me the time on my own to process my emotions. There was no pressure at all.
I was happily married for 25 years even though the last 6 were very hard. I didn’t think I would fall in love again. My wedding planning process has been emotional as I work my way through it. Jamie, your videos are great and you have been such a great help even though I am not a young first time bride. Thank you!
I made an appointment a couple of weeks later with my Mom, Sister and a couple friends. My consultant was very nice. At one point one of my friends had picked a dress very much like my original wedding gown and I couldn’t get it off fast enough. We got it back together and she helped me into a gown totally unlike any that I thought I wanted. It is perfect! My wedding isn’t until next July so I was shopping early like we are supposed to. I was called to pick up my dress 2 weeks later. I would say my experience was wonderful and I would recommend them myself.

I bought my dress at David's Bridal and my consultant was SO kind and helpful! I had a much better shopping experience there than I had at other, local boutiques, as the smaller places put a lot of pressure on me to buy the same day, whereas my consultant at David's Bridal told me to go home and think about it, came back on a day when she wasn't scheduled so I could try on the dress with my mom there, and was generally awesome. So it definitely depends on location

I’m from England and I’d never heard of David’s bridal until I joined some Facebook groups for brides and most brides were from the USA. Everyone seemed to use David’s and I’d had no luck at any local boutiques and was quite desperate so when I googled David’s and saw they actually had stores in the U.K. I got some of my bridesmaids and drove 6 hours round trip to Scotland to look! We weren’t expecting much apart from a fun day out but we really really hoped they had something. It was the best decision we made! The lady we were assigned was amazing and she was the right balance of helpful but also gave us freedom and wasn’t pushy at all. We ended up picking the dresses but leaving without buying anything because we had to get all the girls’ sizes before ordering. They had a deal on which meant the £100 dresses were only £79 if I remember correctly? We rang up and ordered them and everything was okay. My only two complains would be that we were told they’d get shipped to us and they actually got shipped to the store (although this could have been a communication issue) meaning we had to go back and secondly that we were told 3 of the girls were tall and needed extra length dresses which cost £10 or £20 more, my tallest bridesmaid was 5’9 and she ended up having to basically get altered and cut off what we had paid more to have, I’d be curious to see what they’d have said if she’d been measured there. The dresses took a few months to arrive but as they were shipped for from the US we expected that and they did arrive exactly when they were predicted to so can’t really complain as we were told that and we ordered them well in advance. So I think in America and in England they’re totally different experiences. I’d recommend any UK bride to go there! My dresses were perfect and I’m so glad we took the chance!

The dresses were such low quality and I left in tears. Exactly what you hope the experience WONT feel like...

Hi! I'm a Customer Service Rep for my local DB! Its TRUE, we do tell you the latest date of delivery BECAUSE we can't guarantee your dress will:
    1. Still be there when you finally decide to order because we swap out styles all the time.
    2. Have time for that COLOR to come in, many of our colors have different time frames and dye dates.
    3. Actually purchase your dress, too many dresses DON'T get purchased by bridemaids in time and they get mad at US because they chose to order their dresses so late.
    4. It. Is. Commission. Based. You have us watch ads for your revenue? The workers get commission. It's not an additional cost, it's the same price online minus potential shipping fees. You can spare the time to try on dresses with the stylist that helped you and plan on purchasing anyway you have the time to purchase in store and help a stylist meet their goals
    5. We have to tell you the latest date the dress will arrive so you don't get mad at us if it's not here in a weeks time you can't get frustrated with us if it's not here that first week. We ALSO say it so that if it IS late we can plan around alts if needed because most people aren't blessed to fit our dresses perfectly and need hems or areas taken in to best accommodate them
    6. Ordering online hurts the store, and potentially you later on. DB is closing down many of their stores. Especially the ones lacking in bringing in revenue. When you go to a store but don't order there, you order online instead, you're killing that store. It's a chain, but chain stores still need to make money to stay open. No money+ mostly returns= "keeping your store open is essentially pointless, people in your area are ordering online more than in store so start wrapping things up and move on. Bye."
    7. The return policy has changed but many stores blow over the change and pretend it doesn't exist because it didn't for the longest time. To this day i still catch myself saying "this copy of receipt is for you to keep but, I'm going to have you sign this bottom line stating that you understand all sales are final and alterations are available but an additional fee" 🤦 my point is, next time you go in (if you go again), you can return your dress or exchange it if need be.
Hopefully this info dump helps give a little reasoning behind how things are done at DB.

Went to David's Bridal one time (and will never go back) when my best friend got engaged and needed to find her wedding dress. The shop was so full it was like a cattle call. The experience was completely impersonal. My friend tried on 3 dresses, the third dress she tried she said "This one is pretty, I like the blush color" but she was clearly underwhelmed and it wasn't "the one". But the consultant but a sign in one of my friend's hands that said "I Said Yes to the Dress at David's Bridal!" and a bell in her other hand that she was supposed to ring because she found the dress, and she was like "alright, go ahead and ring the bell!". She didn't even care that my friend clearly didn't love the dress, she wanted to get her out of the store and get her commission. My friend took the dress off and we left immediately.

This!!! My wedding dress experience was great but my bridesmaids dresses... I was so annoyed. We were on time to our appointment (about 5 minutes early) and our consultant was late. Our appointment was suppose to be an hour and a half, and after she started talking to us and what I wanted my girls to wear (which I told her whatever they want style wise, but the colors are wine for my Maid and Matron and Champagne for my Bridesmaid). But I know not everyone likes the same style so I didn’t want to force them all into a strapless if one girl didn’t feel comfortable. I know I personally wanted sleeves for my wedding dress and hate strapless so I didn’t want them to be forced to wear a style they didn’t feel comfortable in for the night. Anyways the girl was so freaking RUSHY. And was annoyed when my girls were trying to discuss something about the wedding and even rolled her eyes 🙄 it was just a night and day experience compared to my wedding dress shopping. But they did the same fear inducing of “we can’t guarantee it by XYZ date if you don’t order it today” for both my wedding dress and my girls. So I hated that. My alterations was fine. Although when I went for my final fitting last week they didn’t do the bustle even though it was pinned for it but because apparently the lady didn’t put it on my ticket and I didn’t pay for it, they weren’t sure if I changed my mind. My future mother in law was super stern and diplomatic and said to them “but it was pinned up, so why didn’t anyone call her to ask so she could swing by and pay for it instead of having to wait for it to be done then come back again. Long story short one of the seamstresses said “I can do it now for you guys so you don’t have to worry!” So she did it in 10-15 minutes and they didn’t charge me for it so that was amazing 😂
But I will also say I wish I had went down a size with my dress. At the time I was about 30 pounds heavier. But it was already a little big in the upper area. Fast forward I’ve lost 30 pounds and unfortunately they can’t take in much on the top because of the style. If they take it up more the material around my chest will buckle. So I have to use boob tape to tape up my boobs (it’s a Galina Signature dress which sleeves, low cut and a mesh back that’s see through there and all around except for the boob area with lace detail lol) and I can’t wear a strapless backless adhesive dress due to my chest size. So I have to hope dress tape works...
So I’m kind of indifferent. I got a beautiful dress for a more affordable price but it’s definitely an experience you have to be aware of.

I feel this to my core. I was planning my wedding that was supposed to happen in June of 2019, and I bought a dress in 2018. When I found a dress I liked, I had a huge amount of pressure on me to purchase. My mom ended up buying the dress for me that day, and then a few months later, we found out we had to postpone our wedding. Now it’s 2020, I have a wedding dress, and I still haven’t had a real wedding (we got married at the courthouse with intentions of having a wedding later). Since then, I’ve realized that the $1000 wedding dress I got might not actually be the dress I really want, I’ve lost more than 40 pounds and am still losing weight, and I also don’t think my dress will be able to be altered as much as I needed. So while I feel like I could still be happy enough with my dress, I also feel like I cheated myself out of the experience to find the one that really makes me happy. And if I find that one, I feel like I cheated myself out of $1000 because I was rushed to make a decision.

I went wedding dress shopping with my sister in October. We went to a local bridal place and David's Bridal in the same day. Her experience was lightyears apart.
We went to the local place first and the consultant was super attentive and listened to EXACTLY what my sister wanted. She also made sure any dresses we grabbed were within her budget. She found a dress she loved, but it was the first place she went to and wanted to make sure there wasn't another dress at DB that she liked better, but all in all it was a fantastic experience.
Then we went to David's Bridal and she had a horrible experience. My other sister was in the dressing room helping her change while the consultant was nowhere to be found most of the time. The consultant pulled dresses that weren't even a little like what my sister asked for and some were over budget. When my sister had any questions, we had to literally search for the consultant to try and get answers. My sister probably tried on at least 10 dresses. The consultant told her she had one more dress in mind that she thought my sister would love and came back with the COMPLETE opposite style that my sister was looking for. The only thing she said specifically that she didn't want was a puffy princess style dress and that's what the lady brought her.
In the end, we ended up going back to the local place and my sister got the initial dress she loved and was happy that her amazing consultant got the commission she deserved.

David's Bridal ordered me the wrong dress, didn't let me try it on when I picked it up from the store, had me sign the contract (that had the correct size/style on it), and didn't let me return/exchange it.... Resulting in me having to buy an entire new dress elsewhere! I was also told that the dress would take 7+ months to come in, and it came in two weeks!!! AHH. Lesson learned, fortunately I found a new dress I love 1000x more, but it was definitely very disappointing! Also, love you Jamie! I so look forward to your videos!

I decided on David’s for the price point and having the opportunity to look at dresses in a transparent environment. Bridal boutiques scare me because I have heard horror stories of women putting on dresses without price tags and loving dresses outside of their price point.
Loved my experience deciding on my wedding dress, and decided to have my brides maids get their dresses from there too. The associate that helped us was so patient and kind! We had her running back and forth for sizes and styles 🙈
On the other hand, I did a payment plan on my wedding dress and the experience with that was awful!! I went to do a payment one day and their system did not “read” that my payment went through because I was told they had issues with their system. Although, on my bank statement, the payment went through. Essentially I ended up doing two payments that day with David’s only registering that I gave them one payment. Took 3 weeks for them to get it fixed on their end. Very frustrating.

I've been in two weddings and both times we've gone to David's Bridal for bridesmaid dresses. The first time wasn't the greatest. I tried on a size 2 sample dress but when the consultant measured me she said I would be a 0. I told her that the size I was wearing felt comfortable but she was super pushy and insisted that I was a 0. I trusted her because I figured she knew what she was doing and I ordered the size 0. Fast forward to when I pick the dress up, I go to try it on and it is SO tight. I asked if I could exchange for a bigger size and they told me they couldn't do that because there wasn't enough time to order in a new dress (even though there was still 5 months until the wedding). So I wore the dress to the wedding and it was okay, but I didn't eat or drink much because there was no room for my stomach to expand. For the second wedding, we went back to the same DB location and our consultant was a lot friendlier and she made our experience so much fun. AND she ordered me the correct size! It can definitely be a hit or miss with DB.
Also the second dress you tried on was the one I wore for the first wedding, just in a different colour!

Two experiences I’ve had with David’s Bridal:
    1. My friend got her dress there and they sold her a gown that was marked way down from original price, and that’s what enticed her to commit to trying it on, then tried to pull a fast one when she got to the counter to purchase. They told her the sale ended the day before and they’d left the sale tag on by mistake. Her dad basically fought with them for ten minutes until they agreed to honor it.
    2. Same wedding, went back for bridesmaid dresses and had an appt. Our saleswoman left us mid appt to go sell prom dresses to walk-ins and we were left to try and find stuff in different sizes and colors by ourselves. We asked multiple times for different sizes of dresses and she’s disappear and then come back without anything, totally distracted by the prom girls. It was so annoying.
I didn’t bother going there when I went dress shopping and I’m going to have my bridesmaids order from Azazie. Lesson learned!😅

I had an appointment and got to try on at least 11 dresses and finally the perfect one. They ordered my dress for me and it came in within a month. When it came in there was an issue with the neckline so they didn't even hesitate to order me a brand new dress! Came out perfectly. The consultants were very kind and listened to all of my concerns.

I got my dress and my girls dresses from David's bridal. I wanted to support local boutiques, but I found that David's bridal was the only place that had inclusivity in sizes. I hated being clipped and pinned into a size 2 sample, knowing that I would need a 14 +. And my girls wanted to wear identical dresses but I needed standard size and plus size. I know David's bridals pricing probably comes with a steep caveat, but at the end of the day, it worked for me. I had a good experience overall and I love my dress and my girls dresses.

Great video Jamie! I was married 9-7-2019 and did my shopping at David's Bridal. I also had a similar experience with my dress. So i tried on a dress i loved but it was sort of an off white. When we ordered it i told them i wanted white and they told me i might not get it in time by ordering it in white and the size i needed. I ended up having to order a smaller size and then had to spend more money for alterations. Then my bridesmaids also bought dresses. I told them the color and they picked the style they wanted. When they purchased their dresses they were told they had to purchase that night to get their dresses in time. I feel like they have good pricing on dresses but i would go elsewhere for alterations if you are able to.

Daughter just got married; used David’s Bridal for Bridesmaid dresses, a different boutique for her dress. DB worked out well because she had 8 bridesmaids: one who was living in England, one in CA with the rest scattered through MD. Most went to brick and mortar to try on different styles but like you ended up ordering online with quick delivery. Although the bridesmaids were all in the same color and length of dress, each was in a different style. The overall effect was lovely and each girl felt she was in a dress that was flattering to her body.
DB also had a selection of dresses that were appropriate for mother of bride/groom that weren’t the typical “old lady” frumpfest. Purchased off the rack even though it required more than hemming alterations (I’m SHORT and there are no petites). Did not care for the salesperson’s attitude when I asked about alterations cost and turn-around time.

Starting off with I love your channel and your great.
I used to work in a locally owned bridal boutique which is definitely different than David’s but couple basic tips/thoughts based on this video for shopping for bridesmaids dresses no matter where you shop.
    - Always make an appointment you will have a much better experience because you will be allocated a consultant who is prepared for you. They usually will even ask you questions before hand so they can have suggestions ready for you even.
    - Don’t show up an hour before closing especially without an appointment. Like any retail environment showing up an hour before close they are trying to multi-task and put stuff away and clean plus handle any the appointments that were scheduled so not as great of an experience.
    - The timeline thing was definitely a sales tactic at David’s but for small bridal boutiques in my experience the bridesmaids dresses can sometimes take longer than the brides dress to get in because there is more of them. Also to get exact color match they are made from the same bolt of fabric which can factor in to how machines and such are set up (additional time). This is not always the case but the store obviously doesn’t want to get you in a situation where you don’t have dresses.
    - Side Note on the return policy that is a super nice feature of David’s and online shopping because most boutique shops have a no return policy. So while the customer experience wasn’t 100% know that not everywhere offers that as an option at all.

I had to SHARE a consultant with another bride and this was like a 10 am on a Saturday and there was just me, the other bride and maybe one or two other non-bride customers. I have no idea why we had to share and each didn't get our own consultant but there was so much time where I felt like i was abanodoned or just standing there waiting and she never went and got her own suggestions or pulls. She literally just put me in the few dress I had chosen and that was it. Luckily I found my dream dress at a local boutique because David's Bridal was awful. That would suck wouldn’t it?
Every retail/sales consultant works with multiple customers from David’s too Macy’s. You just don’t notice it because when people go into Macy’s they know what they’re looking for, but weddings are something the average personal wouldn’t know.

And they were all sweet til the end when I wouldn’t commit to buying that day at the first store I looked. She had me in my favorite one and was going over financing and saying oh look “your mom is tearing up she loves it” trying to get me to emotionally commit to this dress and i just wasn’t ready to. I could tell they were disappointed when I said I need to think it over but mt consultant did give me a big hug and said congratulations. So, I have mixed feelings on my experience. I didn’t have an appointment and they got me in w a consultant pretty fast. I actually had two! They were really attentive. All was great til it came down to committing. They must definitely earn commissions.

I got my wedding dress with David's Bridal. For a big girl it's great -- at least at my location. So many options for bigger girls, and my sales associate was lovely. Also, the dress was in my hands in 3 weeks.

I had a good time finding a bridesmaid dress there 6 years ago, but when I went looking for a wedding dress it was a horrible experience. It could have been my consultant, but she brought me dresses I couldn't afford and when I finally found something I liked it was waaay too much money and they pressured me to get it that day or it would go off "sale". I'm glad I didn't get it because I found my beautiful wedding dress a month later for $96

I bought my wedding dress at David’s bridal on January 24th and they told me it would be the end of April and it came in around Valentine’s Day (I don’t remember the exact date). Their shipping is MUCH faster than they say. This also happened to my cousin when she bought her wedding dress, she ordered in February and was told her dress wouldn’t be there until June 1st and she got it sometime in March. 😅🤷🏼‍♀️

There's a David's Bridal a few towns over from me, I literally only recognized the store name. I didn't know really anything about how good a shop they are. So I appreciate this video.

I went into a David’s bridal with an appointment as a bride and was barely able to get the assistants attention to help me, that was the most frustrating part of it for me. They weren’t that busy at all either.

I love your videos ❤️❤️❤️ I will love to see more videos of you doing behind the scenes in different bridal stores. I have so many options to go to; however, I feel like I have no where to go. I don’t know if that happens to other brides to be too.

Going to David's Bridal with an appointment (as a bride) I was given their full attention and had a very similar shopping experience as I did at more upscale boutiques. No complaints. I wasn't planning on getting a dress right away but I found one at David's that I loved and the price was too good to pass up. While they did ask me if I was committed to the dress, I didn't feel pressured - but maybe it's because that was my last stop and other boutiques tried to bribe me with "same day" savings so I was kind of used to it by that point.
I will admit that after I bought MY dress and we looked around for mother of the bride dresses, we were left to our own devices. They only seemed to help if you are a bride or track someone down and demand help.

I had my bridesmaids order from Azazie, they had lot of options and custom sizing options as well! Similar to trying on at a brick and mortar store they had an option to select dressed to try on at home for $10-15 each shipping both ways included. All I did was pick the color and I asked the bridesmaids to stay with a certain fabric but let them choose their own style, it ended up looking great! When I was a bridesmaid, my friend had us shop on ASOS, I was able to find something in their tall range (I'm 6'3") but the options were limited.

Bethany Black First of all, have fun! This is a really fun time in your life so try your best not to be stressed at your appointment. Not sure what color you are going for or when your wedding is, but my best advice going in would be to keep in mind that some colors that aren’t ordered as often to take longer to come in just because they are a “cut to order” color. BUT with that being said, if your wedding is in June for example and your stylist is freaking you out saying you need to order ASAP, don’t freak out. She just wants your sale. If she tells you something like “I cannot guarantee that this will come on time if you don’t order today” that technically is true, because the stock in the warehouse is constantly changing. But that date she gives you is the ABSOLUTE latest date the dress could come in. It will 99% of the time come in much earlier. But it’s for your safety and to cover the company’s butt, basically.
So color lead times for example, the color wine is probably the most popular color right now. So if you go for wine it will most likely only take 4 weeks to come in. But if you go with Oasis or Spa or Wisteria, those colors take longer to come in. Not that you HAVE to order now, but better that you as a customer are aware of lead times.
Also another piece of advice, the store will not have every style of dress in every single color in every single size. It is not physically possible! They would need a much larger store 🤣 I had SO many people upset because we don’t carry every single color and size. It’s not your stylists fault, they are trying to help you as best you can! So just be patient and try your best to have a good time! Bridesmaid appointments were always my favorite because having all your girls together is so special! Hope that all makes sense 😝 Congratulations on your wedding!

Omg thank you!!! I know we will make it fun because we all get to be together and my girls are sweet and positive so no matter how it goes we will make a fun memory! My wedding is in June (good guess!) so I’m not worried about the time line because it’s still 7+ months away. Good to know about colors taking different amounts of time!! I went to a DB in a different location to try on my bridal gowns and the experience was meh so we are trying a different location just to see how it goes! My girls are all very different sizes so I’m sure we will have lots to try on and Its good to know we may have to try on a dress in the wrong color just to see what the fit is like! Thank you again!!!

Bethany Black Oh my gosh no problem!! But 100000% YES about trying on the color! They have swatches in store which is nice. But that was something a lot of my clients had a really hard time getting over. Which is totally understandable, but it’s just not physically possible. You can absolutely see your color in a dress, just might not be the exact dress you want to see it in. I don’t know about other store but corporate was always good about sending a variety of colors to our store. Good luck!! Glad to help!

I really feel like it depends on the location and the consultant you have. I got my dress and my bridesmaid dresses from David's when my husband and I got married 10 years ago. Much more reasonably priced than the smaller boutiques. We got our bridesmaid dresses from David's for two of my friend's weddings, four years ago. All the experiences I had were good.

Bride to-be here! I totally agree with this review!! I am getting married in a year, but a couple months ago we were planning on having it within 6 months, so I went to try on dresses. Overall had a good shopping experience with the sales person who was very kind and friendly, but was pressured into buying that day even though I had NO money set aside for wedding stuff yet. I ended up putting money on a dress, however, after a couple weeks I had HUGE doubts and felt that I was pressured to buy in store, with a "sale," as well as the shipping time thing that you had as well, and just didn't feel good about the dress, etc etc. Since I hadn't paid for it completely, the return process was simple and she even gave me a full refund which was not in the contract, so I REALLY appreciated that and left a good review for the store. In short, the product is good, the customer service I received was amazing, but the sales tactics definitely take away from the fun experience. I think I would have had a lot better luck finding THE dress if I had a supportive girl squad as well so that took some fun out of it too. TDLR; Customer service mainly good, but sales tactics are fishy.

Can you do a bridal shower video? I have tons of questions! Like, how much in advance before the wedding it should be? Who should be invited? What do people do there? Not sure if this counts a a wedding planner topic but even insight from personal experience would be helpful 😊

They work off commission. I used to work there. And I hated forcing someone to order that day. I said if you couldn't that's fine. They didn't like I did that. Turned out customers don't like being treated like they have to order now. That's my only problem.

I went twice to shop for bridal dresses and the consultants were so rude both times. One almost completely ignored me and the other would not listen to what I wanted. I’m a plus size bride and she kept trying to put me in an A-line dress even though I specifically said I wanted a mermaid. I even found one I wanted to try on and she told me “no” flat out. She would absolutely not listen and went as far as telling me I would “look awful” in anything other than the style she had in mind. I ended up spending much more on a mermaid style essence dress and couldn’t be happier. I feel so confident in the style I chose.

I got my dress from David's Bridal. I do love it, but your experience with them saying it won't get here in time if you don't buy today happened to me too. Then when I did order it, the dress showed up 5 days later. They told me it would not be here until March 2021, and showed up 5 days later.

I live in KY. I did use David's Bridal for my gown, and all 4 of my bridesmaids. I had an incredible experience buying my dress and an amazing experience with 3 of the 4 bridesmaids (it took 3 trips for the 4 dresses bc of scheduling conflicts). However, the 4th bridesmaid shopping experience was disappointing. We went to a store in TN because that's where she lives, and we knew what Designer and color we wanted and just needed help pulling those dresses and switching sizes. We get there and met our consultant for our appointment, she points us to a dressing room then disappears until we're ready to checkout. And she wasnt with anyone else but us. The consultants name was written on 4 rooms to indicate where she should take appointments and all the rooms were empty. There was only 1 other shopper in the store while we were there. So while overall we had a good experience, I agree that some of their sales people could use some retraining.

I cannot stand the "sense of urgency" sales tactic when it comes to weddings. It never works out. Decisions like that take time sometimes and I believe you push more customers away when you act like that. I worked at a bridal boutique for two years and making the bride feel pressured almost never worked.

Yes, unfortunately, as salespeople, this is the type of crap we are indoctrinated in, and we are made to feel bad if we do not do this stuff. I've even been threatened with job loss for neglecting to implement certain sales tactics. They somehow think saying these things can negate the needs and desires of the individual.
