Did he under perform in HS? Let's see. He played in one of the toughest leagues in the nation. The Seattle metro league. He started all 4 years and was the winningest HS player in Washington state history. His team was ranked top 20 in the nation all 4 tears and when his team played payton pritchards team, Jashaun lead his team to a win in a game that was slated oregon state champs vs Washington state champs. He won state twice and placed 3rd twice. He beat Zach lavines team, Dejaunte Murray's team as the starting point guard. You see basketball isn't just about stats. As a point guard it's more important to be a winner. And all the NBA players who have came out of Seattle, Jashaun was the winningest. Also, every starter on his team went division one with one Jaylen nowell going to the NBA a 6ft 5 shooting guard. Jahsaun was all metro 1st team two years in a row and lead the state in steals and assist 3 years. Why did he chose LIU when he had offers from several others schools including pacific, Portland, San Diego, & south Florida? Because that's where his family is from. Brooklyn New York. He wanted to go to a mid major and while there he started all 4 years. He lead his team to the NCAA tournament, and made the all rookie team. He was also mid major player of the year. As many TV announcers proclaimed when he played bigger schools like Texas tech or San Francisco, he had the tightest handle and was the quickest player in all of college basketball. If you notice, he averaged between 10 & 15 points a game every season from high school to college. He's a point guard and does what is needed to win games. He was the 1st TH-cam sensation & inspired thousands of young basketball players and currently trains pros. And stays ready. He had many offers to play over seas & g league. Because of covid, he has stayed low key and enjoys training. He was just on the Ellen show again and has a bright future in what ever he decides to do. And in Washington state, he is a living legend just based on his HS career. What's funny is the goal the entire time from when he was 8 years old was to play college ball and get a 4 year degree. Of course all kids dream of playing in the NBA. But Jashaun was never over hyped. At nation camps in 7th & 8th grade he would rank higher than players who currently play in the NBA. Why? Because he was better at that time. But size definitely plays a huge part. And it's not a matter of if Jashaun is good enough to play in the NBA. He is living his best life and doing what he wants now as a young man.

Give me a dad /family who puts high expectations on me any day and I'll take that over parents who just want you to be average or don't care. NBA isn't the end all be all. Sports isn't the only way to measure success or failures for black people. Graduating with a college degree and being an stand up individual that you and your family is proud of is a success story and should be celebrated more. 💯

I know you don't use size/genetics as a stunted growth BUT unfortunately, it is.
If genetics are not on your side, ESPECIALLY in basketball, you are in trouble. IF a kid has skills in the 6th grade and DOESN'T grow, he MAY be the greatest 6th grader of ALL TIME. But that MAY be his/her ceiling. NO amount of hard work is going to make him/her grow taller. If you ready you don't have to get ready. MOST people think because Steph AND Seth Curry are smaller than MOST NBA players, they just got good. Hardwork put them over the top, BUT BOTH of their parents were collegiate athletes and Dell was a solid NBA player. The Curry brothers were around NBA drills/training AND they worked hard. Some parents see their kid make a few jump shots and think he is NBA bound UNTIL he doesn't grow.
    GREAT work and GREAT series.

One thing that needs to be stated however, is Jashaun is ridiculously skilled, quick and athletic. He's everythig he was touted to be. The only thing missing is opportunity. Most of these #1 picks he played against them coming up and did well against them, he just didn't hit the genetics jackpot like they did. From all indications, he's intelligent and a well adjusted young man. That said, dude can ball. If he's lacking anything, it's unselfishness to a fault. This is a good video series. This is why I respect Lavar Ball, he knew to ensure his kids grew over 6'4 that the mom had to be over 5'11... You trying to raise a young prodigy have kids with women no more than 4 inches shorter than you if you're over 6'0.. If you're 6'3 then wifey should be between 5'9-6'0.. Don't go get a woman 5'1 and you 6'1, the chances your son is 6'3 and above is very slim.. may happen but the chances are he'll be 5'10 at the most..

*said this then and I say this now making kids working out in their childhood regardless of sport or just weight lifting PHYSICALLY STUNTS GROWTH!!! I’ve seen it growing up as a kid. You have to Waite till highschool for the rigorous training/workouts. Children could play sports nothing wrong with that but as long as it’s just for fun and not serious. Just look at gymnastics for example. Majority if not all kids who join gymnastics early as prepubescent children and stick with it well into their teenage years or adult hood are short you even hear it in their voice. But the ones who start past puberty or during their early teens don’t have that problem. Let children be children. If you really want a child to be introduced in something anything you as the parent have to show a lot of interest in it. Whenever your child is around your talking about it or doing whatever it is but not paying too much attention to the child. Like basketball let your child watch you play a lot of basketball either by yourself or with other adults, watch basketball games constantly but don’t let the child get too involved. You have to use reverse psychology children love imitating parents and older siblings. They will show interest in whatever you’re interested in especially if you tell them not to do something that they have seen you so dozen of times. Then leave the ball for them to play with they’ll pick it up try to immolate you while watching for your approval. Then you start playing with them but only play nothing serious until they have hit puberty that’s when practice can be tied with your approval but still you don’t push until highschool. Like I said children like to do the opposite of what you tell them by nature it’s normal. When you push you lose them. Michael Jordan was never pushed to play basketball no one expected him to make anything of himself especially not in sports it gave him drive. Well into his adult hood he had a chip on his shoulder. But when you push they eventually fall out of love and it’s not fun anymore. Anyway I’m glad agosto didn’t burn out like most children do in his position and he actually went off to finish college. Yeah most children prodigy burnout end up in drugs or suicidal go look up what happened to most of those wiz kids from the past smh*

@@stuntedgrowth can't even lie I followed his story and watched that original video of him when he was 10 back around that time and agree with you for the most part. But one thing I believe people use as an excuse for alot of players although it's the most plausible reason why some players don't make it, is size. One person I'll say who's of comparable size, maybe even smaller, around his time who could've had the same excuse was Tyler Ulis. Now Ulis was no freak athlete like Nate Robinson or high level scorer like Isaiah Thomas but still overcame his lack of size. I just think ultimately Jashaun Agosto was not put in position to succeed as Tyler Ulis, from high school to college. I know those miniature players that make the league are rare but there couldn't be a better example of someone whose size could've prevented them from making it to the league. Now size may have hurt Ulis in the long run but he reached a level many his size didn't.

I'm not a fan of spotlight on kids. I think I'm not a fan of the spotlight in general :p But pushing yourself, setting extraordinary goals at a young age, challenging yourself to succeed no matter how low the odds, and falling flat from large peaks, those are all good things that are character building. In one way or another, Jashaun will be better off for his experiences, the good and the bad. If he puts in as much work on his shooting as he did on his dribbling as a kid, I think he'll eventually get a shot at the NBA. Depends on how bad he wants it. Is he willing to wake up at 4 am and do two 4 hour shooting drills per day? I'm not saying that's what he needs to do, but that's what he needs to be willing to do.

We have this same exact issue in the minor hockey world. Parents are so savage on their kids. So much pressure. We have what you call the bantam draft. look it up. Basically we are drafting the top bantam boys players to major junior hockey teams. At the age of 14 yrs old. It's insane. Can ruin a kid. Has ruined kids. You stop growing or your skill set doesnt develope and adapt as quick as you need it to it ruins the athlete. To young. At 17 you can see more potential for the future. 14 or this crap 8 yrs old. One Tiger Woods guys. Literally play golf before he could talk
