Just fantastic speech by shri purana chandar sir..nowadays the leading example of "sum total" concert is of prince rama varma...He always enjoys performing ALWAYS as a TEAM and he has mentioned many times about it
Thank you Purnachander Ji. Hearing about Guruji, from a versatile all rounder like you, (Hindustani & Carnatic, vocal and violin, Ghazals), is helpful for a layman like me. I have heard many concerts of yours as well. I looking forward to hear more of your reviews of other concerts of our beloved BMK Ji. Regards Ram
What an explanation! I am a layman just interested and enjoying in listening classical music trying to understand the sahityam. but, In fact I got to know the depth of sahitya and the depth that sahitya gains from such a legend for the very first time. I express my gratitude to Sri Sreenivasa Murthy for his extraordinary works in compiling these rare pieces. In fact I am looking for Raga wise keerthans and RTPs to enjoy the beauty where the keerthanas are handled based on the sahitya though in the same raga. Once again my sincere thanks to Sri Murthy garu.

Śrī Pūrnachander's introduction is superbly interesting and illuminating for a lay rasika such as I. Academics do not seem to have yet adequately, systematically compiled or studied such oral histories of karnātaka sangītam. Herein lie many a PhD dissertation that could significantly add to the *philosophy* of whichever discipline a scholar may study it in, such as ethnomusicology, anthropology, etc. (A PhD is a contribution to the *philosophy* of the particular discipline.) Equally importantly, archiving such oral history can also help lay and knowledgeable rasikas alike get an idea of the larger historical context of particular krtis and their renditions. This is especially true when we talk of modern vāggéyakāras such as BMK, Mysore Vāsudevāchar, MDR, and others. The contexts of many of the krtis of the trimūrtis are largely made up -- though they may be fascinating, they may not be rooted in history; *itihāsa*, yes, but *history*, probably not. (History as we understand it in the modern sense ... documentation, may be triangulation among diverse sources, etc.) For all these reasons, the oral histories that everyone sharing BMK's krtis online has added are important additions to the sum of our knowledge of krtis, vāggéyakāras, the music thereof, and so on. This is highly commendable across the board. Thanks to everyone involved in these efforts on this and other channels.
It just feels so good to listen to the fatherly figures like Sri Purnachander. Since I am not a musically trained person, it is hard for me to understand the intricacies. Nevertheless, I know that what he is saying is true and the guruji BMK is a genius. Those with Sangeetha gnanam and Laya gnanam will surely enjoy this narration. Thank you Murthy Sir.
