This is somehow a kind of E3 coverage I haven't seen before. Maybe I was always looking in the wrong places, but it seems like the BIG HITTERS typically take the spotlight and I never get to hear about these other sorts of products. Thanks for covering this.
Some of the coolest things at E3 are from indie devs and also third party companies. When I went in 2017 me and my friend had a blast trying games and looking at hardware from lesser known companies!
I was pleasantly surprised these are in E3. My perception of E3 before are those conferences made by the big players and not those retro and small publishers and developers. MetalJesusRocks earlier presented that side of E3 to me...

@@TerriblyAwesomeGames I'll have to follow them on Twitch. It just kind of shocks me that EA and Ubisoft and Bethesda and these other companies have the most boring, square, and terrible speakers as their presenters, but Hyperkin is killing it with this lady.

Been following Ploymega for a while but can't find an answer to a question I have. Will Ploymega upscale PSOne games for example?
@@jorort01 no upscaling for the moment but we may add this via an online update in the future. We do have two very nice video filters, though, which softens the rough edges up nicely.
I've never seen someone so excited about Quest64.
She made me want to play it.
The game actually isn't that bad, it's just super barebones and if you play it you can tell there was a lot of cut content. I actually really enjoy the unique combat and magic system

I watched all of the 'conferences' so to speak, major presentations at E3 or presented online, and I gotta say, after feeling a bit disappointed with a lot of them, it's refreshing to see you cover something dear to my heart, retro gaming at E3, and cover it you did! Great work on content, (not crazy about the audio quality in interviews, but next year I'm sure you will address it).

On a side note, I just bit the bullet and pre-ordered the upcoming EON N64 Super64 HDMI adapter. Would love to see your thoughts on that and it would be interesting to see what that mCable could do with the N64 when combined with the Super64.

All this retro-goodness. Why are we so nostalgic? Partly because the retro games were so good, BUT also partly because we want A LOT MORE of that old magic in our newer and future experiences and we aren't getting enough of it. So we reach back. Game creators and engineers, dig deep into your minds, souls and pasts!
Our generation is nostalgic because we enjoyed life when we were kids playing these games, no we're bitter adults from all the grinding of work, debt, bills, etc and want to relive our childhood of riding bikes to your friends house and playing N64/Playstation or Gensis/SNES, or that one kid who had all of them cause rich parents

The Hyperkin spokesperson was the best part. My faith in the company has gone way up after seeing how genuinely interested in retro games she is. The lack of marketing BS from demo people goes a huge way in my books. You can tell she actually plays the games and is not just a salesperson.
Ooof. Software emulating an N64... Now that's a bad idea. Modern PCs still have some issues emulating the more demanding N64 games accurately.
Dude. Unique look into E3 and this is what I'm most excited about. So cool man.

Been waiting for Hyperkin to make an N64 cartridge console. I got their Supaboy a while back and it has served me well for all my old SNES games. And the advancements they made with the SD card is really awesome. I also didn't think of the button cell which means my old Gauntlet Legends saves might be going away soon! :O
Nice to see no one else covered these things from E3.. would have been interesting to know about this but I guess seeing bland trailers for a bunch of games is all that's important for most companies to cover.

Before I even start the video, I saw the thumbnail and would like to inform you guys that, as someone who has watched the Modern Vintage Gamer, the N64 'clone' is based on a libretro core and basically has more compatibility issues then I think Wulff Den is letting you know about. Heck, the build that was shown at E3 has some issues with MARIO KART 64, a game that should work fine as it's one of the more popular games on the N64.

This is a little late, but (at least some) of the Hyperkin HDMI cables DO upscale your console. I have one for my GameCube and I can confirm that it outputs 1080p. It also has post-processing that makes the games look absolutely stunning

That handheld NES portable concept at $80 is actually a pretty good deal. You could modify it, build a dock, and suddenly you have a NES Switch that can output to a TV or play portably.

Honestly just proud and amazed someone is working at Quest 64 that hard still. I gave up when I was younger, and swore never to return...

because you don't know how to find SNES games online lol.
Physical copies are digital copies on discs with protection. The consoles themselves are just as worthless, 60 frames is cool, but emulators make games look nicer than original hardware in most cases, and don't have issue running at 60fps as well. 3d games like N64 and gamecube games that can be played in a much much higher resolution look much better emulated, and psX games and others that typically lived on a CD will load many times faster when emulated.
There is no upside to physical copies unless you're too stupid to figure out how to use digital copies.
@@Thenumber3guy how is a game being removed from the xbox store being too stupid to use digital copies. The game does not exist anymore digitally on xbox. It doesn't matter how smart or dumb you are you cant download something that doesn't exist. But if I had the disc I would have it forever is my point. The majority of my games are digital. I just downloaded 8 games because of all the sales xbox had for E3. Fuck wit. And this is not the first game that has been removed from the online store that I had

It looks like when you pull the trigger on the Zapper, it's doing some type of hardware interrupt to make the game run slower for the next few frames, doing some image analysis to see if you're pointing at the white square, and then passing the hit/miss result to the game software.
That could be it. It definitely felt like that black screen was up there longer than usual

You should check out the sinden light gun, he had a very successful kickstarter campaign. His videos break down exactly how the unit works and why crt works while LCD doesn't. Interesting stuff, I'd like to know how hyperkin are getting it to work.
Im most excited for the mClassic tbh. I love my switch to death, but most games I wanna play on it seem to wanna run docked at 720p and that just doesn't look good blown up on my tv. Being able to play what feels closer to 1080p will definitely help my docked switch games feel more comfortable to look at
The big reason people are hating Polymega is they've gone back on their entire original mission statement. The whole idea of the console requiring modules to emulate each retro console was because each Polymega module was supposed to be the dedicated FPGA hardware to emulate those games. The base unit was to basically just run the software hypervisor, things like library or save management, and other software features outside of the emulation. Now, each module is basically just going to be a single board computer running a software solution for emulation. It went from what COULD have been on par with Analog's hardware, to what will probably be about as good as Retron.
I want a mini candycab machine, I'm not a fan of the western cabinet design. I get that it saves space, but I only want to get one, so one that catches the eye would be better. (Plus candy cabs have slightly bigger control decks so it isn't scrunched together)
One day I hope to go to an E3.

Thanks for this video. Most E3 coverage was just boring people dancing around whether or not loot boxes are in their games. Stuff like that, which ended up being more comedy then actual interesting game news. At least the retro market is got some cool tech coming out.
You can upscale those HDMI adapters to 1080p simply by using the Marseille mCable Gaming Edition. I have videos on it using Original Xbox, PSP 3K and PS3. It costs around $100 for the 3’ Cable but it works on everything that has HDMI. It upscales and does Anti-Aliasing.
Edit: I see you met the CEO of Marseille. Commented before I made it that far.
And yeah, OG who’s helping develope the mClassic emailed me Some months ago about it. Hopefully they add a 4:3 option as I suggested since the mcable stretches the image to 16:9.
Edit again: You can also use an HDMI splitter with your mCable upscaler so you can capturein higher quality whilest playing in the original experience you may like. Also note that some capture devices don’t like the signal. AVermedia LGP2 works just fine though.

The Polymega isn't too expensive, it's way way way way too expensive.
Make sure that the pins can't bend inside or it doesn't have a death grip which makes it hard to pull out the cartridges.

That hyperkin 64 is gonna have some issues due to the emulation, so they should put an SD slot on it for patching like the retron. Other than that, it'll be good enough for getting footage from and just playing casually
