Thank you for your service Sir. I grew up during the Vietnam war. Nightly news and newspapers kept me aware of the goings on in Nam. Reality came when my Dad's cousin died there, he was in Cav. In 1975 my registration for the draft was easy knowing the war was over and I could go off to college and fulfil my life plans. You had to grow up fast getting into that jeep. Glad to hear about your experiences cousin, this reminds me how lucky my life has been.

I was a trained Combat medic that was never deployed to Vietnam. 1971-73. I was the front man who tried to help the returning combat vets at Bragg. Those who lived to return to the world had a bag of issues. I love everyone of those men.
Stumble up on this channel this evening . So glad I did. I agree with ,and maby a little diferent view on some things. But like the man said I,, and, He has that freedom. How great that is. That is what being an American is. My dad went ashore on Omaha Beach , and he did not talk. I was in the Viettman theatre in 65 into 66. And I remember being in the airports at different cities with protesters posted there to spit on men in uniform. And being looked down on by older vets. Many people did exactly as he did hide in public. How sad that is. His men have told him he did a good job. He should be very proud and I truly believe he is.
Lee,after hearing your story it brought me back to 1968-69.....Dong Tam was my home port, I was with the River Assault..River Ron 13...I was a 20mm gunner on a troop transport...I was wounded three times...loved the infantrymen, they hated to ride on our boats up rivers...magnet for B-40 s and RPG 70s, my boat took 11 direct hits that year! Glad you made it...would love to visit with you..I was a petty officer 3 rd class. 19 years old!

Very good interview. Lieutenant Lee Alley is a good man and a great leader. God Bless him and his men. Sorry he and his men had to go through such horrific things for all of our freedoms. We can't thank them enough.
Thank you Mr. Alley for your service that has allowed me to live a life free without having to worry about having to pay a price for that freedom myself. You and so many other magnificent souls have paid that price for me. I am grateful beyond what these inadequate words can express. The debt that I owe to all of you is beyond what I can comprehend.
I purchased the book written by Mr. Alley, and it is excellent - the stories of his time, the reunions and stories written by veterans and their surviving relatives. Truly inspirational and tear jerking.
I was a very young Canadian Infantry soldier and had the privilege too train a bit with Americans. One night in the field off duty a few cases of beer appeared and we chatted with some Senior NCOs from the 101 ABN. They were Vietnam Veterans and us kids were eager too hear about the war. It was a quiet conversation and they told us about fighting the NVA. The stories....and they were only a few... were sobering and pretty grim. I have never forgot it. We were in awe of these men. CFB Base Borden August 1983.
Wow so this interview is at least 10 or 12 yrs old., I'm only halfway thru but what a great part of US history..glad this is preserved and hope he is still kickin..God bless and thanks to all involved.
When you touched down on the tarmac upon returning to this country, I wish I could have been there to welcome you back. Yourself, and all veterans, should have received respect and honor for your sacrifice from everyone in this country. Yourself, and all veteran, have had my respect and honor from the moment you enlisted. I do not need to wish you well...because you did well, then and now. I'm proud of you.
Thank you LT. Alley to put your heart out on your sleeve and give us a look into your time in the nam. Thank you for your service. I salute you and thank you for the freedom I enjoy! What a gem, God bless you sir and all of those you have touched!!! THANK YOU!!!
Wonderful man and an example of America's finest. A real leader of men and a hero. The end his talk was very insightful into the reason for the much of the brokenness that was bore by the young soldiers after their return from Vietnam. It was not the enemy they fought that caused their pain but the effort by some to place blame on them to cover the tracks of failed misguided policies. Welcome home Heroes!
Such a touching story/interview! A good man a humble country boy the perfect leader of men we need men like Lee running the world in my opinion he'd get my vote :) the youth of today could learn a lot from men like Lee .

What an incredible, inspirational and important interview. i am from the freedom generation and not from the U.S. . And thankfully haven’t had that freedom jeopardized or threatened . Llistening to his memories makes me even more appreciative of that same and precious freedom. This is the kind of person we need to hear from , and learn from, cuz no matter how skilled Mr. Alley was in recon or combat , You can tell that he would choose a world without wars in a heartbeat. If , hypothetically speaking, I would have found myself in the situation of having to go into an insane Vietnam- like mission : Yes , I ‘m pretty sure I would trust this man with my life. Thank You for sharing your war time experiences and your recollections .

What an engaging man, I can see why he's so special to you. His letters to loved ones he sent home touched me deeply. God Bless this man, he's one of the few.
Exceptional interview! Thank you both very much for this! I served my time in the Navy, 1970-1971. I was not sent to Vietnam. I was a corpsman who served most of my time at Naval Hospital San Diego. I grew up "a Navy junior" as my mom used to say. I didn't care much for Army people. (This wasn't from the teaching of my parents, just from some of the books I had read in my youth. I believed every day was Army-Navy Game day, and we all hated each other.) I'm proud to say that I've long since changed. I realize most of the Army folks are just like the majority of the Navy and Marine people I've known (and loved) over the years. Lee Alley proves himself in this interview as one fabulous Army veteran and American. Thank you both so very much!

The smell he is referring to is exactly that of sweating feet in old leather sandals. It is all pervasive in the 80% humidity and oppressive heat. The good thing is you don't smell it after a few weeks. The worst smell in Vietnam was around duck farms which is really strong. I wasn't stationed in Bien Fuk but it was a real toilet with mosquito's in clouds and 80% mud. What a wonderful man and leader - we had the best of the best over there - I had a similar experience in that I didn't want to talk about it for 30 years - gave my decorations to my son. Now it's easier as I have had time to separate myself from the experience. I also was a 20 year old 1st Lt. in Vietnam -

Thank you Lee Alley and ALL your men. Welcome home brother. I graduated HS 1974. My father retired Major, an M.D. 20yrs MT Ground Guard and 20yrs MT Air Guard. He was my hero. We rooted for you brave soldiers from afar. My dad always yelling at Cronkite and 60 Minutes. We fought the war at home. He was, you are - America. Thank God for men like you. My brother in Christ flew Huey's during your time. Oh, what stories! I wonder if your paths ever crossed? I'll be sure to share your story with him. God Bless You Lee Alley. Thank you.
Please tell me more about your screen name. I have a story you might like about Michael the Archangel. Larry. larrycappetto.com/contact

I’ve watched this five times now what a amazing story thank you for your service
Thank you Kenneth. Lee's story is one of my best. Please check my new video from the Vietnam Reunion I attended in 2013 with Lee's group.
Wow ! I’m proud of the this man and I’m not even American !!
A true Leader of Men.
Respect sir.

Beautiful story towards the end.
That was a great story about the dog.dogs will sink her heart.they are great animals.god bless the soldier that called the medi vac in for him.thank you for the medi vac chopper pilot for bringing him back to y'all.dogs bring you happiness.
Great comment Randall. I love this story about damnit the dog.
Thank you, from one vet to another!
You are what an American should aspire to be. Thank you for your sincere service .
I agree John. Thank you for your comment and for watching my story. I hope you are subscribed to my channel. Please feel free to share these videos. God bless you!! WEBSITE: larrycappetto.com
Absolutely a great person and a wonderful interview. God bless this man and thank you for your service
Thank you, Lee Hailey, for sharing your experience.
My uncle was a Platoon Sergeant in an Infantry Unit and had reel-to-reel tapes of his platoon in Viet Nam during what precious little "down time" they could get in the tent city
He used to listen to those tapes on the weekends, drink beer, and cry
Broke my heart😥
the best people i have ever met, i met in the Army.. thank you, LT
What a warm hearted gentleman. A very moving story. Thank you LT Alley from your friends across the pond 🇬🇧🇺🇸
The courage and character of this man is beyond any words that I could offer
Larry, if not for this video, I would have never met LT Lee Alley. God works in mysterious ways. Lee is an amazing human being. Thank you for your dedication to our veterans and current servicemen and women of our country. I saw how courageous the American servicemen were in Vietnam. I owe my life to the men and women who served in Vietnam. Thank you Lieutenant Alley for everything you have done for the people of South Vietnam and the men who served with you.
Thank you John for your love and support of our God, our Veterans and our country. I am so proud and happy to finally be able to share these entire stories. I can remember getting a job people didn't want to hired us because they blame us for losing the war l would get in arguments with people telling them how did we lose the war when we won each major battle and that's with our hands tied behind our backs the politicians was in every major decision that was made in Vietnam from bombing to where we could fight what parts of the country we could fight than to come home and have the disrespect that was shown towards us some who were spit upon and to have your own government who you went over there from the get go to have these middle and old mostly white men look down their nose at you and the kicker was some WW2 VETS say it wasn't a real war anyway man it took all these years to finally get a thank you for some it's to late because they are not with us anymore what a waste of human life l could go on but enough l said my little speech
John you are a special individual to show appreciation for your freedom all these years later and pay it foward..... much respect pfc J. Materese USArmy Military police Corp 88/92
I am always so amazed watching these stories how courageous men are at such of a young age.
Very good interview. Lieutenant Lee Alley is a good man and a great leader. God Bless him and his men. Sorry he and his men had to go through such horrific things for all of our freedoms. We can't thank them enough.
They DIDN'T have to. We had no reason or right to be there.
Respect and love to all from the UK. Thank you.
Very smart and wise man. Thank you for your service.
I purchased the book written by Mr. Alley, and it is excellent - the stories of his time, the reunions and stories written by veterans and their surviving relatives. Truly inspirational and tear jerking.
Just beautiful. Thank you for your service, Lieutenant. God Bless you!
God bless you!!
AMEN!!! I will share this with Lee. Thank you for your comment and for watching my story. I hope you are subscribed to my channel. Please feel free to share these videos. God bless you!! WEBSITE: larrycappetto.com
What an incredible, inspirational and important interview.
i am from the freedom generation and not from the U.S. . And thankfully haven’t had that freedom jeopardized or threatened .
Llistening to his memories makes me even more appreciative of that same and precious freedom.
This is the kind of person we need to hear from , and learn from,
cuz no matter how skilled Mr. Alley was in recon or combat , You can tell that he would choose a world without wars in a heartbeat.
If , hypothetically speaking, I would have found myself in the situation of having to go into an insane Vietnam- like mission :
Yes , I ‘m pretty sure I would trust this man with my life.
Thank You for sharing your war time experiences and your recollections .
GREAT COMMENT!!! I will share this with Mr. Alley. He will be pleased.

What an engaging man, I can see why he's so special to you. His letters to loved ones he sent home touched me deeply. God Bless this man, he's one of the few.
Thank you Steven. Lee is one of my best Veteran friends. We have done a lot together.
Brought me to tears. Welcome home LT.
One of my best Vietnam friends.
Andy, I appreciate your kind words and will share with Lee Alley. It has been an honor to record and now share these amazing stories. Feel free to share them. I hope you are subscribed to my channel. God bless you!!

Absolutely sensational jeff....tks for sharing......god bless
Absolutely incredible. Thank you
Larry I got to tell ya...............60 min intrerviews are just NOT ENOUGH! Ive been glued to my computer for the past 7 hrs binge watching all of your Vietnam segments!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bless you Jeff. Thank you for watching.
I had my comments 'down pat' while watching the interview but, now am tad lost for words. Thank you both for the story. I envy how you Americans think & express yourselves & you unashamed patriotism. I wish we here had more of the same instead of a society hell bent on dividing us; I ask myself 'how did it come to this'?
I am working my way through the listed interviews but am taking it slowly as I deem it should be; out of respect.

A very good interview. I was there at fire support base Cudgel and saw recon fighting. I was with Bandido Charlie 5/60.
I am happy that I watched this . A great interview with a good man . He had so many great explanations .
Freedom. Thank you , I also work in Subic Bay in N.S.D. met a lot service men going out and coming in. Blessed you all.
Bless you Brother. I have been there. Thank You for your service Sir.
I also was a 20 year old 1st Lt. in Vietnam -
Thank you for your service & also for sharing your story. You are an amazing man & very well spoken. I will be looking for your book
