I've been carrying a Swiss Champ and Knipex XS for the last 2 weeks and I feel much more equipped than before when I just had my leatherman which I had been carrying for 8 years. I'm wish I had made the switch sooner. I may have to try the Knipex S size... but the XS just fits so nicely in the coin pocket of my jeans that I may have to find a new way to carry the Small. Also, you're not the first person I have heard that had their locks fail on their Swiss Tool. At least two other youtube videos said that and I think I read it happening to someone in a forum as well
Great review! I've had an original swiss tool since 1998 or 99, it's never failed me. Great to see a SAK , I'm actually carrying a swisschamp today. Take care
Might have to try them kni pex but really like the 7” robo grips for like a decade now . They sinch down nicely so you don’t have to squeeze super hard and hurt the hand 😮. It’s my dedicated nail puller and a really thin 6” pry bar has removed thousands of feet of trim . I don’t know why people want their nice wooden trim painted but they do . I try to talk them out of it every time too . Same with cabinets
Thanks for the update on these! I completely agree about the perfect middle of the road size of those two multi tools. I'm glad I own both of them, but as of late I've been carrying the Rebar more. Cheers!
The Skeletool is not useless. It’s my favorite 😢. I like it’s light weight and used it at least twice a day when working. The pliers are worthy and the blade flips out one handed. The screwdriver doesn’t have great geometry but it works.
My two favorite SAKs are the Swiss Army 7 and the Swisschamp. I always carry a large plier based multitool on my belt as well because I believe in overkill and carry tool heavy
The Rebar is my favorite Leatherman I have ever had. I tried the Wave and sold it within a week of buying it. Tried the sidekick and wingman and gave both of those to my kids. I carried the Rebar with a Nite Ize pocket clip for years at work it, was small enough to carry that way and I put that thing through its paces. I did break the big flathead prying with it (100% my fault). I carry two knives a work knife which was the Rebar and a pocket knife to have a sharp somewhat clean blade. The rebar paired well with the scissors and better pry tool on Victorinox Climber.
Hi Erica! I have two EDC nerd questions: 1- Is there a leather knife slip/leather pocket organizer you’d recommend for a 4-layer SAK? I have an Explorer, and love it. It’s just that I currently carry it in-pocket with a lanyard, and think it could be nice to have it in a piece of leather. 2- Do you feel the small Philips on the rambler is sufficient for most EDC tasks? I currently use the Explorer *mostly* because of the in-line Philips, but I bet I could find a 3-layer one if I decided to stick with the Philips on my rambler. FYI, the tools that I feel are “musts” are: -Philips -Corkscrew -Awl -Large scissors -Saw (which Explorer doesn’t have, but it would be nice)
Hey there! I have no idea on the SAK leather slip. I do know Victorinox makes belt sheaths for them but they’re kinda cheap feeling. I don’t know your daily tasks- so I don’t know if the Rambler is your tool or not. That’s your decision. I believe the Fieldmaster has all the tools you listed off.
Knipex pliers are the best ones made. I have them in 5" and 6" plus a much larger pair in my tool bag. When I EDC them it is always the 6" pair. The 5's are just to small in the hand. I think it's funny how the same tool that looks large in your hand feels like a little play toy to me :) Take a look at Knipex pliers wrench. It is another tool that is a game changer. As for multitools I have tried just about all of them. I settled on a Leatherman P2 or P4 depending on what is in store for the day. Neither of them are stock, I modified both of them extensively to suite my needs. I need to make a video on them. My saying in a bit different then yours, it is "Mod Your Gear" only then is it truly useful!
I keep a pair of cobra and plier wrench in 125mm (5 inch) on my desk for inside stuff, have the 150mm (6 inch) pair of the same for quick kit road use, and the bigger sizes in a tray in my workshop. Even the 125mm is too small for my hands, and I won'tbe orderingthe tiny ones at all. 150mm is perfect. Paired with a leatherman, torch, lighter, knife, vintage US made small side cutters, and a 150mm stainless ruler. Perfect mini kit.
I love carrying my leatherman signal, knipex 5 inch, and fenix tk16 v2.0 for work. I tried carrying a Skeletool for edc but the pliers handles open too much to grip. Can wait to try my new super tinker with my knipex 4-inch combo.
The XS Knipex have adjustable teeth on one side of the adjustment slot while the S Knipex have teeth on both sides. Not sure if this affects strength but am told the S Knipex hold their adjustment better. The XS Knipex have much narrower jaws so may be your preference for tight spots. I prefer the SAK Farmer X for the beefier tool set and stronger springs plus I like the awl on the end of the handle rather than the middle. My Vic's got to have a saw. Now go call your mother!
Sorry, Erica. I tried to stop your mom from calling you while you were vlogging, but she was just too excited! 😊 BTW, I'm loving my 5" Knipex pliers! Thanks for turning me onto those!
I carry my XS Cobras in with my Leatherman G10 Earth in the bit kit slot. I'm thinking of getting the Leatherman Surge holster for the extra bit kit slot so I can also put the XS Pliers Wrench. Let me know if you think that might be over kill.
Ive had the spirit for a while and the quality is amazing, the tool set in practice i tend to prefer leathermans, specifically the rebar, i dont have to pick and choose a specific model to get serrations or a plain edge like victorinox and the biggest issue is drivers, specifcally with the philips while the one on the vic is nice, the tip is still wide and wont fit smaller screws whereas the rebar will which is kinda annoying, i also like the bit adapter you can get for the leatherman. Victorinox is great quality, but leathermans are more functional
If I whack my spirit x tools hard on table they always fail do you think it's worth sending them in for replacement? I really like the tool I will say the rebar is a great size and a great carry I have never really seen or heard of anyone destroying one .
I snapped the knife on my Rebar using it for what I thought was light prying. The blade is rather thin but I'll admit I might have asked more of it then I should have.
The closest I found to Knipex are IRWIN Tools VISE-GRIP Tools GrooveLock Pliers. They're listed as 6 inches, but they're really 7 inches. You would think a company would come out with 4- or 5-inch pliers to compete with Knipex. 🤷
Knipex xs + victorinox wrench kit + victorinox locksmith...lighter than a leatherman and way more capability. "Rip offs" brand dual sheath...easy belt carry.

Gotta love all the SAK’s! Enjoy your week!

Cheers to that!
The Rebar is a kick ass no nonsense EDC. It is the best Leatherman IMO. Really liking your channel, Thanks!

Great video! I EDC a combination of Farmer X, Knipex 125 and a small bit driver/ bit kit.
Perfection!

Ive had my rebar for yrs its a tank . Ive almost got myself Knipex 100 times I think ill get a whole set n give my brother some.
Love the Knipex!
I think victorinox will fix your issue if you send it in. There is also a knipex that acts more like a wrench better for bolts . have a nice day 😊
Cheers!!!
Yep, I have the Knipex pliers wrench XS. Very nice, very effective tool.
I keep a pair of cobra and plier wrench in 125mm (5 inch) on my desk for inside stuff, have the 150mm (6 inch) pair of the same for quick kit road use, and the bigger sizes in a tray in my workshop. I like the comparison, both multitools look really nice in different ways!! I think if I ended up buying one I’d probably lean toward the Spirit X!! 😁
You need the lil pliers!
@@ericasedc I know I’ll get some!!
Looks like you knipexed the subject.
A good change of pace 😉.
Thanks Mike!

Any time mate!!!! Also you nailed that mom joke!!!
thanks E, as per your the biz , keep up the good work love your content it feels honest , p
Thanks my friend!
I carry my XS Cobras in with my Leatherman G10 Earth in the bit kit slot.
I'm thinking of getting the Leatherman Surge holster for the extra bit kit slot so I can also put the XS Pliers Wrench.

I can’t make that call for you! Haha
@ericasedc Just tried to take the wheels of a vintage Sears bike with the Cobras. Couldn't do it but at least the teeth didn't get damaged.
Good review on the multi tools, I have a Gerber and a older Leatherman I’ve had for many years, where is the best place to get a good pair of knipix?
Literally anywhere haha
THANK YOU
💕
I wish they made the knifeless Rebar in a black oxide finish
Loooove that finish

Эта тетка говорит правильные вещи. Некоторые криво рукие мужики, закрывают видео от стыда 😂😂😂
I love my knipex
So useful!!!
Hi Erica have you seen the knipex holster from clip and carry ?
No!😻
@@ericasedc gotcha
I m planning to get the knipex and the holster when I do I'll post it on my Instagram

Nice!!!!
Thanks Caleb!

I wish there were more multitools with a hammer.
I really wanna try the Signal
What about the victorinox’s lifetime warranty ?
What about it haha
Love your content.
Do you ever find yourself reaching for (disposable) utility blades?
Yes during construction projects
whats ur opinion in leatherman wave vs rebar? might be a cool video idea idk
The wave is Leathermans best seller for a reason.
Wave is more comfortable- but also more bulky. I like the Rebar!
Where did you get the holster for the knipex?
Lynch Nw
Check the leatherman bond and curl models
