  • In this #craftcoreDIY video, I am unboxing a vintage Kenmore Monogrammer and Templates set and a Kenmore Accessories and Buttonholer set. I love to collect vintage sewing machines and vintage sewing machine accessories. I compare the buttonholer set with a few Singer buttonholers in my vintage sewing machine accessories collection. I would love some feedback from you regarding this set if you own it! Please leave me a comment.

That monogrammer will only fit 1970s era free arm Kenmores, for example 158-1941. This makes the Singer monogrammer look like a joke. It is so easy to use and works great.

Thank you so much for the insights! I really appreciate it. I really wish the hoop wasn't missing from this set. I imagine it will be difficult for me to find a hoop separately from the entire set.

Try some online sites, you may find it, but if you don't have the right machine, you can't use it.

Do you know which monogrammer fits the 158.904? Which boxes of attachments go with that also.

I just purchased a Kenmore 158.1914. Form my local Restore. I love it…..it has everything from the original purchase all three boxes (monogrammed, cams, buttonholes). All the the original feet the Q feet for stretch and chain stitching plate and bobbin attachment. The original manual as well. The machine came in it’s fold away cabinet that’s in great shape. I’ve been learning everything I can about this machine. Runs like a dream. Feel so lucky. Happy hunting for others looking. I just stumbled upon this one. You never know 😊

I got one last year but just now trying to find attachments, there’s two different monogrammer numbers so I’m not sure if I bought the right one, but I bought the right cams.

The Q foot was for stretch fabrics. The one you have will only fit a Kenmore SUPER HIGH SHANK foot. The aforementioned machine, 158-1802, 1601, 1703, etc. The device in the mustard yellow box is a chain stitch device, which only TOP OF THE LINE machines could use. There must be a small hole drilled in the hook for this to work. You also need a special needle plate.

Those accessories go to the Kenmore 158.1914. I have the three boxes with the machine, found it for $35 at an estate sale. I’m rereading the manual now, excellent machine.

Here in Canada, those machines never sell that cheap, and they usually disappear very quickly where I live. You're very fortunate.

Keep the accessories and look for a Kenmore 158 series sewing machine at Goodwill and other thrift stores. I’ve purchased two of them for $20 each. One is a free arm and one in a table. I have run across a few. It should not be too hard to find another one for yourself. similar to the one you sold. They are really great machines. : )

Kenmore buttonhole and monogram plates with a flat front go to freearm Kenmores, the ones with 2 levels on the front, go to flatbed Kenmores.

I sort of inherited a box of sewing tools for a kenmore , as i watching your video i noticed some if not most of the tools. now at least i know what those templates are for. you didn't show those round green (sort of) "disk like" . I also have some of the those tools in the second box you opened up.

The metal piece in the yellow case is placed where you would normally put a bobbin and it allows for you to sew a chain stitch. The other piece that should be in that case is the chain stitching needle plate which should be a black needle plate. I have these sets you are showing and they work with the Kenmore 19142 sewing machine. I'd also be happy to share a copy of my digital manual for this set if you are interested. Let me know. The manual I have doesn't include any details about the monogrammer though.

Again, the buttonholer drive plate is for 1970s era free arm Kenmores only
If you are a serious collector and sewer, look for a Kenmore 158-1941. It will use everything EXCEPT the chain stitch adapter. I own one, and it is wonderful. Check ebay, but don't pay more than $150 US.

I purchased a Kenmore 158.18031 model machine that has five boxes of these accessories recently for $25. The machine is solid and all the accessories are still in packaging. However, I am unable to get the fabric feed to work. Bummer.

That should be an easy fix. Please don’t get rid of the machine for only this cause.

I found the same sets at a Value Village near me and have been looking to find more information on them! I've had them sitting in a drawer since I found them, I would really love to give them some use lol I found the Accessories and Buttonholer, Monogrammer and Templates, and Pattern Cams. Did you ever find out more information on how to use them? (:

I recently bought a singer simple off of Facebook market for like $50. When we were about to leave the guy who sold me it stopped me and asked if I wanted the box that says monogrammer and templates on it. Was super dusty and didn't know what it was but I was like hey sure.

I have a Sears Kenmore from the early 1980s my Mom got for me. I've tried to have it repaired but it will only do straight stitching and not zig zag (or related). Any suggestions? Is it possible it still might be repairable?

    • @nimarie2477
      @nimarie2477 หลายเดือนก่อน

Sure those machines are absolutely repairable !! Look on the back of machine get the machine number and then google machine not stitching zigzag you'll get some options could be a setting is set that is stopping it that's what it sounds like to me if your machine is still sewing straight stitch my Kenmore 1914 ,a 158 series has alot of different settings I have to put into place to use decorative stitch cams, go from zig zag to straight and sometimes I have reread the manual & I've had the machine for 7 years !!

Good news, I've got the directions to use both button holers. Just let me know where to send them to you. - I've got the button holer. I'll pull it out and if I've still got the directions I'll copy it and contact you to get it to you. I believe my Kenmore has the removable plate. Will let you know. I'm the original owner of my Kenmore.
