    The purple suitcase photo is great! I love the shutter speed and composition. The neon sign reflection is perfect the way it is, imo, and belongs just as much as the boot, the bag, and the jacket.

    Flash is an asset in bad weather. It picks out bright colours and offers great abstractions from the rain, sleet and snow close to the lens. Also comet tails, especially with rear curtain flash.

    I love, how you talk about ‘luck’ as a photographer. Of course, sometimes we are really lucky. I only call it luck if I didn’t go out intentionally to photograph and I capture a great shot. Another criterion is that it is shot on my mobile phone. If it’s on my Olympus, I went out with intention. I like then to say, I created an opportunity. - When I started as a landscape photographer, I was jealous of other photographers who clearly were so lucky with the weather. When I got my serious about my own photography, I realised that it wasn’t luck. I now know that even with the best planning (weather apps, PhotoPills, TPE), four out of five times the weather is just not fitting what you planned and only one out of ten times it’s truly great. However, that isn’t luck. It’s buying so many lottery tickets that eventually you have to win something. It’s probability.

    • @ForsgardPeter
      @ForsgardPeter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What I mean is that you give lucky a change. You lan something and that opens up opportunities that you did not know there is. That is what I call to give a luck a change. Planning is the key.

    I love the color use in these shots. It reminds me of an outing I had in the snow last winter with some Provia slide film. I thought it would be a mess with the limited dynamic range, but I exposed for the colors, and the white was snow fell into place. If not for life issues getting in the way, I would be doing this series. Hopefully healthy by spring. Great stuff sir!

    An interesting video, Peter. Thanks a lot.
    I found it interesting to learn why you took certain photos and why the pictures were successful in your eyes - or not. I think the motion blurs in the pedestrian zone have a nice dynamic effect and show the struggle against the weather on the one hand and the hustle and bustle of everyday life on the other.
    I also like the quiet picture with the man in front of the railway station.
    I'm flirting with the 20 mm lens, although I also own the 25mm/1.8 and don't use it much (which, now that I've seen your photos, I should use again more often).
    Best regards, Sabine

  • @hnahler
    @hnahler 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great explanation of the topic. I like how you ‘married’ weather with street. I’m thinking about seascape and weather on Saturday when I should have some time and the next storm with rain will pass over Scotland. Like in landscape, weather cannot easily stand as a subject on its own. You need a strong support act to provide context.

    Nice video Peter, very nice images. I like the use of motion blur you applied. Will try that. I am just a bit shy for street photography, always worried to interfere with the privacy of people… I will have to get over it somehow. It would be nice if you decide to do a video on this topic one day. On how to act, how to overcome the fear of interference, how to frame, how to set up the camera for spontaneous shots, how and when to freeze the motion or to use motion blur, etc. I am sure it would be helpful for many people. Just an idea, I am not insisting. Have a nice day.

    • @ForsgardPeter
      @ForsgardPeter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a hard decision. I would most likely take the 17mm f1.2, but then it is a bit bigger and the angle of view is wider. The aperture difference is not an issue f1.2 and f.14 are almost the same.
      Image quality wise i would say that 17mm f1.2 is slightly better. It is the best of the Pro primes in my opinion. The 25mm f12 was a little better than the 20mm f1.4.
