was yet in the land

The prayer he prayed at the end does not make anyone a child of god. The bible tells us to repent, to be baptized in water for the remission of our sins and to receive the holy spirit of God, the spirit of adoption who cries out with our spirit: "Abba father!" It is by baptism in holy spirit that we receive holy spirit.
