Here comes a rant that will tick some people off, no matter from what angle one considers it: My wife and kids were all born overseas, it took quite a while for our kids to get their Aussie Citizenship. The reps at Australia House in London said "as far as we're concerned you are an Aussie and your kids have every right to Aussie Citizenship (by descent)" However the pen pushing tax payer funded red tape demons in The ACT back then was "investigating my status". Yes I was born and raised in Australia and I fell in love with my wife overseas and we got married there and the rest was no different to any other family ups and downs anywhere in this world. But my status had to be "investigated" and "reviewed" and "assessed", to the point where the relevant Minister in my wifea country of birth had his Staff write an official letter to the Australian Ministry/Department. Which was then an "internarional" red tape process that had to be handled exclusively by the goons in The ACT. Finally after a year of red taoe BS it was confirmed that I didn't lose my Citizenship. Soy then some 15 year wife and I agreed to follow through with the Kids Aussie Citizenship and Passports. After all, they are OUR kids and they deserve to have a choice to be Aussie just as much as they have the right to be the nationality their mum was born into. OK. Later on iife when my wife and I decided ro move to Australia and our eldest was 16 bybthat stage, youngest was about 4ish (typical dad here!!!!) I’ve submitted my application and well prepared for the test but the DHA is taking its sweet time to contact me and set up the test date 😂. I mean chop chop hurry up, I can’t wait to vote labour out in May! 😂
No surprises there you only have to look at he number of translation services made available at the taxpayers expense and wonder why when speaking , writing and comprehension of our national language should be pivotal in gaining citizenship. Just like honoring our nation and only flying the Australian flag on our soil with no exceptions. Especially the flag of "genocidal" installed nations or terrorist states.
Madness, I did the test a few years ago, it took me literally 60 seconds. Although, at least one person already sitting the test when I got there looked like they had been there for hours pulling hair out. Its 10 multiple choice questions, pretty generally knowledge, and the questions and answers are readily available online with the department including examples in the 10-page study guide. I think the only way to fail is if you can't speak English. Also, I don't think there is a limit to the number of times you can sit the test even if you do fail.
I strongly believe there needs to be an essay type question which requires a person seeking citizenship to answer about true Australian values , if they can understand and abide by them as far as they are an Australian citizen. Also I believe we need a visa interview implemented to obtain any Australian Visa to know if the immigrants can actually understand Australian ways of life. So we can preserve what is left of Australian lifestyle and culture.
If you have a questionaire with multiple answers, that defeats the question. Why not ask Will you learn English? Give an example by writing why you came to Australia. Will you assimilate and abandon your birth country's law? Give an example of the laws in your native country you believe are unfair. Do you promise to be a good Australian citizen? I could go on and on, the basics are you willing to become an Australian, learn English and become a productive member of our Nation?
I successfully passed the exam because I believe it is essential to understand the history of the country that has embraced me. I am committed to fully engaging with the life and culture of Australia, a country I have truly fallen in love with.
Two of the three questions have no relevance, any Australian can welcome people to Australia and who cares what colours the aboriginal flag is. Seriously who writes the questions.
A welcome to what??....Do they get to Elder status based on the number of years they've been on Centrelink payments? I know in my proud, Australian family, my elders, current and emerging, have done and continue to do a great job for the Country working hard, but they just go about their business, not kicking up a oh poor me poor me story for a fucking handout!
I personally think questions like the anzac day and colours in flags as pointless, you don't need to know these to gain entry and can be learnt later. Things like the rights of other people are good questions however. So yeah, you really want to emphasize what's acceptable behaviour and whether they will integrate well, learn that we don't want the bs from their country that they left being brought over here THEN they can learn about flags and public holidays.
I am an German and I passed the test at the first attempt in 2009, it was very easy test comparing to what we had to learn in Europe at school during the history lessons from prehistoric times through Renaissance and modern history of Europe and the world. Also some of those facts about Australia made me laugh like the national hero which is a horse Phar Lap, we would not have an animal as hero in Europe, also the national coat of arms which is held by kangaroo and emu and both animals are eaten in Australia, which is also strange for me, Germany has an Eagle but no one will touch the eagle in Germany!
One way of being Australiann , being born of the BLOOD. a bird born in a fishtank doesn't make him a fish, hes bird. Australians are anglo-saxon-celts of Britannia.
Yes, women have equal rights... and lefts; but, seriously, the Australian citizen test IS very hard, because the questions on the practice test are sometimes a bit vague, and even though I passed on the third and final time, the whole experience was very stressful.
I have done the test. The test is fair but most are not reading the Australian citizen booklet the answers are all there. The older people with slower minds to remember may forget the answers , just goes to show who may be applying for their citizenship in my opinion. Should be 100% pass rate. Do your homework wanna be citizens.
"Albo is a genuinely decent guy." Tells you everything you need to know about J.H. Anyone remember the doco he did on SBS where he took a pack of wanna be Aussies around trying to show how racist Australia was, and ended up having to hide in a hotel while local black fellas lost it outside?
I witness an Asian bride and she could not pass the test they gave her three chance and finally took her in the backroom… she passed cause she was very happy 😂
It begs the question, if they know nothing about Australia, such as our history and culture, why are they here?
You gonna get accused of racism ,,,
Welfare. Living off the backs of others and to enjoy the advantages of a nation that they did not build

How about adding this question.. Do you know what your car horn is used for? I swear the constant honking of horns on our roads, these days, makes me think I'm driving in some Indian City.
Does the Test Include...How do you Contact Centrelink ?
Please keep Joe and ditch whiny Justin. 👍
Also politicians failing credibility test
It helps if they speak the language and want to assimilate.
Most of the people he talks about that they are All Iranian refugees came here for Centrelink and Medicare and all of them when got Australian passport they all back and living in Iran
They need at least a criminal record to pass
Add another question. Are you going to impose sharia law in Australia?
I’ve submitted my application and well prepared for the test but the DHA is taking its sweet time to contact me and set up the test date 😂.
If CCP member no test required.
Also failing driving tests, but when there is an indian instructor low and behold they all pass.
Australia just keeps lowering its standards.
The amount of people who can’t speak English, but apparently it’s not a safety issue in an emergency 😕.
It’s the same in Canada.
Test being changed to accept 'China number one' as a legitimate answer for every question.
Did the test earlier this year. It took less than 5 minutes to get 100%. Quite concerning that 30% fail.
Question yes or no does australia have open boarders
Two of the three questions have no relevance, any Australian can welcome people to Australia and who cares what colours the aboriginal flag is. Seriously who writes the questions.
A welcome to what??....Do they get to Elder status based on the number of years they've been on Centrelink payments? I know in my proud, Australian family, my elders, current and emerging, have done and continue to do a great job for the Country working hard, but they just go about their business, not kicking up a oh poor me poor me story for a fucking handout!
Here in US, a lot of naturalized citizens don’t know how to speak English let alone the test. Just sad..
Did my exam and aced it in one go. Same with my wife. Its not too difficult tbh.
Luckily i never had to take citizen test. Ive been in oz for 35yrs and dont even know most of the answers
I.imagine there are quite a few that are hear for the benefits and arent interested in assimilating or learning about australia.
One way of being Australiann
, being born of the BLOOD. a bird born in a fishtank doesn't make him a fish, hes bird. Australians are anglo-saxon-celts of Britannia.
I passed it this morning.I sat there for 3 minutes got 100% .People around me where sat there for 40 min.
They could barely speak English
Why do Australians go overseas on holidays, if they don't know the history and culture in foreign countries ?
I hope that’s a rhetorical question. Otherwise, I have no idea what your parents have done to you. 💩🧠💩
Going on a holiday is totally different to becoming a citizen of a country.
How you couldn’t pass a freaking 40 questions test?
I passed it at the first attempt with no errors.
Yes, women have equal rights... and lefts; but, seriously, the Australian citizen test IS very hard, because the questions on the practice test are sometimes a bit vague, and even though I passed on the third and final time, the whole experience was very stressful.
These are the ‘skilled’ people? 😂
Skilled at climbing trees??
... and you can take the test in your native language.
Then they shouldnt be staying.
They failed the 5 random values question....you have to get 5 perfect answer to that question...if not!? You are failed.
Make it 100% pass rate
For study and working
2 weeks before 1901 ,, New zealand was IN and Western Australia was out of the Commonwealth
And????
@@Whylivere Guess what Western Australia changed it's mind and so did New Zealand
I have done the test. The test is fair but most are not reading the Australian citizen booklet the answers are all there. The older people with slower minds to remember may forget the answers , just goes to show who may be applying for their citizenship in my opinion. Should be 100% pass rate.
Do your homework wanna be citizens.
How hard can it be? Don't pass the test you don't get citizenship ffs
Most of these people thinks it's easy the won't be able to pass the test believe me its not what he said
Thailand only hands out citizenship to 100 people per year.
And you need to be able to read and write Thai fluently. Apart from other requirements.😊
"Albo is a genuinely decent guy." Tells you everything you need to know about J.H.
Anyone remember the doco he did on SBS where he took a pack of wanna be Aussies around trying to show how racist Australia was, and ended up having to hide in a hotel while local black fellas lost it outside?
The show was 'Dumb, drunk and racist', the Alice Springs episode. My hometown! :D
Does she have an inside voice?
like 80%
Animal Vet or Invading Vet?
Make those questions 50 not 20
First question read, write, and speak English. Then, Australian culture and health practices and a job and home before you come.
I bet 90% of aussie can not get 7each in IELTS .
Question 5. What is the main religion of Australia ?
Multiple choice is always very easy. Try without it, like how we studied in Western Europe. Just answer. Right or wrong. You know or don't.
I did the test..i had a laugh coz i finished it in 2min and it was so lame.
If you are going to fail that I would really question your existense.
What happened to your dress?
🇦🇺
I witness an Asian bride and she could not pass the test they gave her three chance and finally took her in the backroom… she passed cause she was very happy 😂
Do you think they had sex with her?
Since 1991
How ignorant people are. You people don't go out to do the test. Majority of aussies i know, wont pass the test themselves
