they are new only just every few years "new" designs come out. they were super popular in 80's and 90's. they would be more money and not sold in stores if they were actually made then the current trapper keepers in stores.i bought one last year just for pure nostalgia. when i got to middle school 1994(6th grade),we had requirement by school. have zip up all in one binders so my sis and i each year got to pick out five-star ones in plain colors but we bought colored sharpies to doodle on and no we did not want to use the one with old doodles for next years. the only binders i needed in high school well math classes and senior year when i took child development for notebook checks and child development we had notebook tests. i never used my locker in hs i would carry books i need for day and leave others at home we could carry backpacks in hall and have in class. also could wear jackets in class.

All you need is index cards a multi colored pen a .5 mm pencil + highlighters 😊 and loose leaf paper all you need
lol this year i only bought a sharpner, a pen and notebooks. I reused the rest, don't have that much money to waste.
