Baekje was not the country that brought Buddhism to Korea, but the country that brought Buddhism to Japan. The country in Korea where Buddhism was first introduced was Goguryeo, and the first country to have Buddhism as its state religion was Silla.
And Baekje had a great cultural influence on early Japan. If you have been to the Asuka period ruins in Japan, you will often see the term Kudara, which means Baekje. And because Japan has rarely been attacked from the outside, the Baekje-style buildings built by the Baekje people are relatively well preserved, but in Korea, they were destroyed during the war, so only ruins remain.
In Japanese historical dramas that cover the Asuka period, you can find Japanese royals wearing Baekje clothes and speaking Korean. It is easy to understand that the relationship between Baekje and Japan is similar to the relationship between France and England in the Middle Ages.
