Fun fact: All the choreography we used in this video is comprised of dances we actually did in middle school!
When we were growing up together, we didn’t get to listen to “secular” music. We would learn bits and pieces of songs on the sly and sing them and often choreograph dances to them. ‪@Alanis‬'s “Ironic” was one of those songs. Thirty years later, we’re doing what we did as kids but on our terms. As 40 year-old women, we are in the process of reclaiming parts of our childhood that were stolen from us by fundamentalist Christianity. Play is both a way back to who we are AND an act of rebellion. 😈
