I was born in 2007, and even though this movie was made in 1991, I somehow managed to see it, and boy am I glad I did. This is a masterpiece of music, animation, voice acting, and storytelling. This movie is what made me act out the whole thing from top to bottom, over at least 50 times, changing things and adding in things like Thomas the Tank Engine. So remembering this when just randomly doing my schoolwork is a treat. Revisiting this in 2021 is a trip down memory lane, please, if any of you have a little kid, SHOW THIS TO THEM. The 2011 film is okay, but it doesn’t really get the message of, “Believing in yourself” across, where as this movie gets it across perfectly. You see this isn’t just a movie, it’s a piece of media that will never be forgotten by anyone who was lucky enough to see it, and I’m so glad to be seeing this in 2021, after many long years. It feels so good to hear the music in this movie. I’m making a promise here, If I die tomorrow, I want the end credits theme of this movie to play at my funeral. And if it doesn’t, I’m not going.
This truly was a beautiful movie from my childhood. I'm lucky to still have the Universal Studios VHS from 1999. This was back when Universal Studios had a lot of heart and soul. But now everything's all about the Minions and Despicable Me, and yeah that stuff's okay but I wish more effort like this was put into today's kids movies.
@MKtheinstrumentalist You beat me to the punch :) I've been working on positing the entire Little Engine That Could Soundtrack without vocals for a long time. I've been able to pull the vocals out, just like this track. But I've been trying to change the pitch and speed of two different language versions to get them to be able to be played simultaneously to create stereo. So far I've only been successful on "Nothing can stop us now". To create true Stereo. There is a version on TH-cam that I used that isn't dead center, problem is that it's been pitched and speed up slightly. I should have the full version ready in less than a month :) it makes me so happy to see others interested in this great music that haunts me even now.
Oh, I remember this! I ended up watching the thing on TH-cam a few years back. Really charming stuff, especially the animation, which was made by the same Welsh people who did Superted. This is lovely, takes me right back! It's like a pitch-perfect recreation to my ears. Also, first. Because this is the one time in my life I'll do it.
This is fantastic! I have such strong memories of watching the Welsh dub, 'Yr Injan Fach Fentrus' on VHS in my childhood. Please say that you're going to extract as much of the score as possible and post it. I've simply got to hear a clean rip of the end credits music. Thanks so much for doing this.
I'm going to extract as much of the score as possible and post it. >;-D Unfortunately my source is in mono so I'm trying to upmix it into as-close-to the original stereo as I can before I share it. But I have nearly finished the full end medley, all the way from the creepy choir to the final triumphant note. Out of interest, would you prefer it have the reprise vocals of Nothing Can Stop Us Now on it, or instrumental all the way through? I can do both just as easily, but I'm just wondering what would be better.
Wow, first of all, that's great news. As for which version of the end medley would go down better, I'm intrigued by both versions. Since the music that plays behind the reprise features later in the medley, I guess including the lyrics would produce a more diverse arrangement. Ultimately however I feel that since you're the genius who made this possible, you should go with whichever version your gut feels is best. For my part, I'm just delighted to be able to listen to some of the music that helped define my childhood, especially since the film was a product of my native Wales. Thanks for all this effort.
Ugh, actually pretty slow. I'm hoping to either track down a digital copy or rip my own VHS, as the panning on my current english rip is way outta line. XP
Understandably so, but the rest of the instrumental can be picked up from the French dub? Not sure if the English dub posted by Goldleader91 could be of any help?
The rest of the instrumental, possibly - except that the vocals in none of the versions I've found so far are actually panned dead-center, there always seem to be abnormally loud artefacts... I'd need a definitive DVD or similar digital source to know for sure. The cool thing about the french dub (and a few other international dubs too), is that the SFX are really quiet compared to the English original for some reason. Makes the music in the bridge scenes a lot easier to hear. ;-D
another version was used i the dud13 movie the version basically at some parts where it sounds like tracks from video game, movie, or show OSTs it's modified to match it.
I was looking at different dubs of "Little Engine" and I ended up finding the Croatian dub had one track with vocals/music and the other had the dubbing track. XD
The MilanToon Channel I found the dub by accident when I was looking for anything of higher quality. There is a laserdisc version of the movie that would be the "perfect rip", but that would require equipment I don't have. But the Croatian dub was if remember, Dub stereo left, and instrumentals stereo right. While I've already separated the two easily of course, it's another thing to get it back into stereo. :P
Christopher Smith How do you mean? Certain international versions of this movie would be played at a different speed, therefore effecting the pitch I guess. What version are you thinking of?

This is so beautiful. I loved The Little Engine That Could 1991 Movie. It’s very nostalgic, well animated, interesting story and great characters.

Oh man, the memories are returning!

Wow, so nice! I used to watch this as a kid :) Still have the tape! I love that main theme.

Also, first. Because this is the one time in my life I'll do it.
It's not a recreation though - it's the original audio. MilanToon somehow found the original instrumental dubbing track!
Oh wow! It's beautifully done at any rate! Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely beautiful! The soundtrack is amazing and well-fitting.
this is really beautiful ... wtf

hey
I can't wait for a full instrumental of this movie if you're planning to do that.
Best soundtrack ever
The Little engine that could VHS is my favorite, cuz of Casey Jr for one thing!
Nostalgia hit me in the face with brass knuckles just listening to this (in the best way possible, of course)
it has a sorta Disney sound to it.
Absolutely wonderful quality! How's progress on the rest of the soundtrack?
Ugh, actually pretty slow. I'm hoping to either track down a digital copy or rip my own VHS, as the panning on my current english rip is way outta line. XP
Why not use the one that you got this introduction from?
Because that was actually the _french_ dub. And as good as it sounds in french stereo, I'd rather have Nothing Can Stop Us Now in english... XD
Understandably so, but the rest of the instrumental can be picked up from the French dub? Not sure if the English dub posted by Goldleader91 could be of any help?

Oh my God...how did you get the entire thing?! I mean seriously!
Why do I get the feeling Milan was screwing around when he found it?
I was looking at different dubs of "Little Engine" and I ended up finding the Croatian dub had one track with vocals/music and the other had the dubbing track. XD

Beautiful! There's also the low-pitched one.
Christopher Smith How do you mean? Certain international versions of this movie would be played at a different speed, therefore effecting the pitch I guess. What version are you thinking of?
The English version.
Something about this soundtrack reminds me of star ocean for the super Famicom.
For some reason, this reminds me of Six Small Wheels from the Great Race
oh my gosh! yes!
Do you have the full instrumental track? I would love to own it in a high quality wav? Can you help me getting this?
