You can tell by how perfectly the track fits how late into post-production they decided to replace it. The second composer had his work cut out for him, writing music for a scene that was timed to a completely different kind of piece.
@@grantmalone Much less time. Altman was already assisting Serra with Serra's music, when he got a phone call exactly one week before the movie's premiere. It was a friday, and he had util Tuesday to write, arrange, orchestrate, write partitions, as they had a recording session on Tuesday. The movie premiered the Friday after. Crazy. Incredible work in so little time.
Dayum this version slaps! Wish I could see it with the sound effects. I think Eric Serra absolutely crushed the soundtracks in GoldenEye and Leon the professional. Probably why GoldenEye is my fav bond movie to date.
Its not bad, but does not really fit. I think it was a smart move. That being said, I loved the rest of the soundtrack. It gives goldeneye a unique feel. If they went with normal brass I think it would have killed the mood of the film.
To be fair, this scene still would have been badass with this music. I think they made the right choice replacing it though, as much as I love Serra's score.
This scene *pops* so much more with this track rather than what it was replaced with. A real shame. The generic track they ended up using does not fit the thematic layers and overall scale of the film. Nor does it fit this scene.
Hahah apparently the people editing the film with this track were freaking the fuck out, and no one thought it worked with this scene. I know Goldeneye has an industrial synth score, which I like, but this track....reminds me of that chase between Xenia and 007 at the beginning....and that is a red flag.
His style is very unique which is fine and all, but it really ruins the movie at parts. If he toned down on the "funkiness" on certain tracks (I'm looking at you "Ladies First") then fans may have been more accepting of this soundtrack.
@@AvengedS939 His style was very very 90s especially the Ladies First part, that's one part of the movie that didn't age well. With that being said I still enjoy the soundtrack very much and it's one of my favorite in the bond series it's just so quintessential 90s and really sets the tone of the film very well.
@@Miamiburaz I would say Ladies First sounds fantastic on the album, but week in the movie. It's really soft in the movie, that may have sort of killed its effectiveness. It's not a subtle track. You can't subtilize unsubtle by turning the volume down.
Not a fan of Sierra's soundtrack and personally think a more traditional Bond-type orchestral soundtrack would have benefited the movie. Thankful they made that change for his scene.
I personally don't mind much of Serra's soundtrack. Gives the films it's own identity like For Your Eyes Only, but some of these tracks are just undeniably inappropriate. This one in particular is Ladies First but cranked up to 11. It starts off decently, but gets overly funky and sounds straight out of The Fifth Element.
I realize how this doens't completely work. But I'll go out on a limb and say that John Altman's re-score doesn't really work either. People are enthusiastic about that bit because it goes in nostalgic Bond mode, but it hasn't aged well, it sounds cheesy now. I think Serra's unorthodox bit was not bad at all, and probably just adding some real brass to his take to give it a bit more drive could have worked the best. And a few more incidental stabs to emphasize certain action and events could have helped.
Final cut's music is only a bit better but it's at least Bond. This style of music needed some other franchise to work with. Also..too silly? Have you seen the part with the statue riding around on the T-55? It was always silly.
Yeah, no. He was an interesting person to approach, he does very cool work at times, but no one should have been surprised he was not a great fit for Bond. Every time I watch this movie I’m a little sad John Barry didn’t recommend David Arnold 2 years earlier.
Typical GTA in Russia. It would be cool to come up with a GTA about Tokyo after GTA and create "GTA Ingria", this GTA will take place in St. Petersburg, Russia
I know it makes a huge difference without the rest of the soundtrack, but listening to this original score - that was terrible. The producers know what they are doing!
The track is great music in my opinion… just not for this scene… They made the right call by getting Altman to rescore the scene. I actually like Serra’s score but this is one where everyone agrees it was better the way it ended up in the film.
Nah he was great, this track was just off. He was going for that metro car chase cool feel, but the scene needed a more epic sound. This music would have fit the Jason Bourne franchise instead.
You can tell by how perfectly the track fits how late into post-production they decided to replace it. The second composer had his work cut out for him, writing music for a scene that was timed to a completely different kind of piece.
Pretty sure it was John Barry who filled in.
Edit: Correction it was John Altman lol

To be fair, without the noises (tank, cars, explosions, etc.) and lines of the actors, it's not very fair to compare with the movie.
This is the funkiest bond song of All Time

That tie fix though
How does this sound more like the game’s soundtrack than the game?
Oh, like "Control"?
@@danielpalacios155 They definently must have gotten an early listen of the OST of the film when developing the game
You can sort of tell what Serra was going for. Just needed better orchestration and a bit more scale I think!
He was going for a Jason Bourne style fast paced techno track...... Like 6-7 years before The Bourne Identity even existed....
To be fair, this scene still would have been badass with this music. I think they made the right choice replacing it though, as much as I love Serra's score.
This scene *pops* so much more with this track rather than what it was replaced with.

Completely agree you. The energetic & fast pace vibe of the Scene matched very will with Eric Serra's music.

I wish they would edit this back in!
It has the Goldeneye vibe to it, but this wouldn't have fit this scene, and I love the score.

The track is fine. It just needs a layer of the brass theme on top, then it would be perfect.
It would kill one of my favorites bond scenes.
It is like something from CnC Red Alert. Which is kinda fitting actually :)
Thank god they changed the music
Honestly I like this more than the final cut, and it would have been awesome if they used this on the Wii game.
I love Eric Serra's score for Goldeneye, but I'm glad they got John Altman to score the tank chase
I´m glad this music was replaced.
Hey, this song is in the actual game. I'm surprised they have this cut song, but not a single tune that was actually in the movie.

shoulda re used this track for the game..
Thanks for this upload! The song is good but makes the scene way too silly.
I dunno, I like the rest of Eric Serra's score, but sexy synthetic experimental music doesn't fit a big destructive tank chase for some reason.
can someone upload a version with the voices and sound effects? :D
Yeah, you can.

This sounds exactly like a Jason Bourne car chase soundtrack... Lol. Funny considering that series didn't exist for another 6 years.
What are the lyrics after the first minute? Which language?

Woeful. Actually liked the rest of the score though
that chipmunk part...why
Such a nightmare...
Quicker cuts and it would’ve worked charms

This is the weirdest Seinfeld crossover I've ever watched.

Horrible. Sounds like a MIDI track.
I personally think this is trash
Eric Serra was horrible.
