    Surface Tension
    Surface tension is a fascinating property of liquids that causes their surfaces to contract and occupy the smallest possible area. If you've ever filled a glass to the very top and managed to add a few more drops without spilling, or watched how mercury droplets behave when a thermometer breaks, you've witnessed surface tension in action.
    What is Surface Tension?
    Surface tension is the effect observed when the surface of a liquid comes into contact with another substance, whether it's another liquid or a different material. Liquids naturally strive to maintain the smallest surface area they can. The surface layer of a liquid behaves like a stretched elastic sheet.
    "Surface tension is the force exerted by the molecules at the surface of a liquid, pulling them inward due to the attraction between particles within the liquid. This force aims to reduce the surface area as much as possible."
    What Causes Surface Tension?
    Surface tension arises from the intermolecular forces, like Van der Waals forces, that pull the particles of a liquid together. At the liquid's surface, these particles are drawn inward toward the bulk of the liquid.
    Surface tension can be quantified by the ratio of the force (F) acting along the surface to the length (L) over which the force is applied.
    Mathematically, surface tension (T) is expressed as:
    𝑇=𝐹
    ------
    𝐿
    Where:
    F represents the force acting per unit length,
    L is the length along which this force acts,
    T is the surface tension of the liquid.
    What is the Unit of Surface Tension?
    SI Unit: Newton per meter (N/m)
    CGS Unit: Dyne per centimeter (dyne/cm)
