I am 32 and really taking photos and enjoyed looking and good photographers photos. However, art of photography has exposed me to much more than techniques and cameras. It has exposed me several wonderful photographers and shown me what separates the good for the greats. I just spent about 10 minutes looking through Harold's photos and they were incredible. There is so much expression and humanistic feel to his photography. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for taking all the time you spent bringing Mr. Feinstein to everyone Ted. He was an amazing photographer. When we look back over his life we will always have your work that was lovingly prepared to look back on to remember him.
I was thinking about Harold today and decided to revisit your touching eulogy, Ted. He was a great friend and teacher to me for almost 20 years and I do miss him, Thanks for all you do to share his amazing work and positive philosophy with an ever widening audience.
Harold Feinstein was a teacher, who taught without using words. It is such an honor to see this wonderful footage to perceive him as an every day Harold, to continue to learn. And Ted - I have no doubts that the next generations will remember you as one of the most inspiring contemporary photography teachers. Your enthusiasm, well considered opinions and tips are really true gems in the culture of internet documentaries of photographic education. Please continue your work, Ted, and be sure, that you, just as Harold, are inspiring many!
Bless you Ted. Harold understood you gave his last days validation for the many that missed his observations. He new the value that your friendship held. You did him proud my friend.
I'm very sorry Ted, to hear about this great loss. I know what it is to lose people you feel connected to, you look up to, you feel protected by in a sense... You brought the most beautiful personal reflection to him thinkable. I feel with you in this. Keep strong... when you feel you're able to. The strength will come one day. Big hug from your friend in Belgium
It is sad that I only knew about Mr. Feinstein from the eulogy video. My warmest respects and sympathies to his family, friends, and all those who knew him. Ted, thank you for your efforts.
What an articulate, introspective, and personal eulogy. Spoken like a true artist. Thank you so much for sharing this glimpse into a fantastic man's life.
Beautifully done Ted - many thanks. Its a sad time but I think that you can rest assured that Harold's family, friends and fans, will take great comfort from your work on the documentary.
Ted thanks for sharing this sad moments with us and I am sharing your feeling and miss . RIP Harold and we are here to share his passion . Thanks for this share of the documentary.
I'm binge watching your episodes while I study for an exam. Thank you for creating these episodes, and for giving us insight into these photographers and their lives and influences and processes.
Thank you for introducing me to Harold Feinstein, truly under celebrated photographer. His Coney Island photographs are full of life and vibrancy. It was a different time when people didn’t look at someone with a camera with suspicion. Something has been lost in this day and age of amazing photographic technology and equipment. I would sacrifice all the technology today, and shoot film with what was available back in the day, if I could go back in time. His work reflects life and genuine humanity. Peace be upon him. 🙏🏽
I can associate with Harold when he said: "It was through teaching and the relationship with the various students that I find my own voice..." I am not a pro photographer, just an amateur, but have some experience in teaching (but not in photography). And just like him, I loved teaching. When students encounters passionate teachers, some magic happens. The interactions between the free thinkers and open minded students keep you alert for anything you might have missed out. It is not because you are a teacher that you know it all. Like Harold said, you discover that the more you learn, the less you know. And that's why Harold was inviting to his classes not only newcomers but pros. Wherever we are, we will always be a student - that's the way of life. Thanks Harold for sharing your art and teachings. Your legacy will survive through the ages. Condolences to the family and friends!
Not to be beside the point, but I kept thinking about what a beautiful voice Harold had. That always seems significant to me. He seemed so deeply in touch with himself -- and, through that, with others. Ted, through you, I came to know Harold's images and something of Harold himself. Thank you for that.
What a beautiful tribute to a wonderful man. I was chuckling away at his ice cream joke! Thank you for introducing me to his work and a little snippet of the special man he so obviously was. G x
Thanks Ted-I always appreciate your sincerity. It's because of your show I knew who Harold was in the NYT obituary, like Harold, you do good work-I'm looking forward to the documentary.
Well done Ted. It is good that you got to meet him and can perhaps help share him with more people who otherwise wouldn't have had the chance...his gift deserves that.
Dear Ted, I juist want to ADD that I too am convinced that there is a life after this and I want to thank you for the so comforting Way you put down in words how to go through a sad period, like the löss of a great friend and photographer like Harold. I take your wise words to heart. 💗 even now, after years, they bring tears to my eyes. Thank you that you taught me about his work and his life😘
Thanks Ted! Great person. Harold seemed like a truly wonderful guy from watching your video interviews. I too have a difficult time dealing with death and this year was tough losing two people I loved dearly. But your words struck me and made me remember the good times I had together with those folks. Rest in peace, Harold.
Such a wonderful and heartfelt presentation Ted. Thank you for this fine inspirational piece. Harold Feinstein leaves a strong legacy and will always be an inspiration.
What a wonderful video, Ted. Thanks for posting this. Although you've only been close with him for about a year or so, it's still hurts...because those moments are real and true and special. So, I'm sorry for your loss. - P.
I just want to thank you Ted for sharing your knowledge and passion about photography and allow new passionate people like me to discover genius like Mr Feinstein. Cheers from Belgium
Great video and wonderful man. I'm still learning the history of the Greats and will include Mr. Feinstein in that list. Those few images I saw of his in your video are absolutely fantastic. Inspirational.
Ted, I just want to say thank you for your love and your passion for photography. I think that apart from the great photographers are not the only masters we should thank, we should think the other masters too, people like you who shares his wisdom and his knowledge of this beautiful art without wanting something in return, just for the mere love for it... I wanted to ask you, did you know Harold had an Instagram account (not sure if it is actually his but by his captions I'm almost sure it is) where he posted around 20 photos, all of them with a beautiful and meaningful caption? If you didn't know then you should go take a look. I think you'll find one or two surprises you might have not know yet. Thank you once again, this is the first comment I write on any video of yours, still I treasure and follow your channel constantly! Big hug from Mexico City!
Hi Ted, You cut out a part of the interview when Harold started to talk about the phone call he got years later when he had taken the picture of sunbathing young people on the shore. What was that phone call about? Do you remember that? I thank you for your answer in advance. And I also want to express my greatest gratitude that you created this channel. I highly appreciate your work I learned enormously lot from your videos. Greetings from Hungary!
Hey Ted, Being a young man of 85, I know Harold's thinking very well. I first picked up a camera at age 65. Was interested in everything. Then discovered Street Photography. I met a man on the street who gave me the secret. Everyone thinks they are really good looking and just love having their picture taken. I found that to be very true. Harold, I will bring my camera. Rest in peace, see ya one of these days, gerald
Dear Ted, I subscribed to your channel mostly to hear you speak about photography. Gear reviews and methods of work I can get anywhere else. What your eye and mind see I cannot find at these places and that is what interested me. This time though I would have taken more of Harold and less of Ted. If you ever make that documentary, one that I would pay to watch BTW, please remember to let the subject speak for itself. You can make us feel, using your cinematographic talent, you don't need to verbalize in a lenghty prologue what we should expect to feel. Now, it could be that this was your intention all along. Forgive my pretense then. Repectfully, JM
