Fantastic footage ! So good to see video's like this preserving the 1980's BR days. Great reference material for building my model railway ! Many thanks for sharing, all the best.......Andy
Thanks for the great comments SE, and really glad you’re enjoying the collection. It’s been fabulous seeing how well received Alan’s films have been, especially since he wasn’t sure anyone would be too interested in them. We both love receiving comments like this that let us know how entertaining and useful they have been to viewers.
The cement mixer train is part of the electrification scheme underway and would be bound for the elctrification part of Hexthorpe Sidings (a short distance away). The "breakdown train) hauled by the class 31 is not actually a breakdown train but an engineers train. Firstly, the crane would not have the lifting ability for the potential weights in an incident. Furthermore, a breakdown train would consist of a small number of support carriages for crew mess accommodation and storage of equipment. Also, the first wagon in the consist looks to be a viaduct inspection wagon. At that time in history it was the Cleethorpes services that were loco-hauled.
Thank you for the fabulous background information Mick. Sorry it’s taken me a while to pick up on your comments. Were you a local to this area around that time?
Great footage, spent many happy hours on this bridge taking pictures, couldnt afford a camcorder then!happy days.doni works did not have the painting plan for the nse livery and 50035 returned in primer.

Wait till it's 4k viewers ,,,,, SERIOUSLY
I remember going into Doncaster works to look at the last Deltic I was missing from list, 55003, saddened me to see 6/7 of them lined up for scrap 🤬
I couldn't agree more. That line of unloved Deltics, filthy and missing their nameplates, was an extremely sad sight for every enthusiast who saw it.
Is that a scrap 47 top left?
Anne Scholey I’d say that’s possibly 47s 405,414 or 416 o there way to Crewe
