The elephants are well taken care of for anyone wondering. In thai culture the elephant is an extremely sacred animal, only to be treated with respect and admired by all. In this ceremony the elephants are symbolic to the “nature of monarchy” as the monarch is rising to a similar status as the elephants.
Yeah, that's why the riders got that steel barbed hooked device in their hands. What is the history of that device? How is it used to train the elephants?
@@tvtvvtvt8017 they have to have an implementation to control the elephant if it decides to injure people or get out of control. Just like Western culture has those spike shoes for horses.
@@andywattanaskolpant8378 I think that makes sense. I've got a huge Great Dane and sometimes when she's not acting right I have to smack her. Obviously not to hurt her but she's so big it might looks like I am being mean when in fact if I did anything less she wouldn't even notice it. Fact is for their safety and for the safety of other people when you have a big animal it is important that they are under control if needed. That's not always but in some situations you have to be sure that they will listen to you so they don't do something stupid like run out in front of a car and get hit.
Don’t believe you. Many of us have seen how the elephants are trained. Then to chain them up and make them confined to limited enclosures is inhumane. Please quit trying to make this sound like they’re not harming these elephants. They can honor the people without causing these elephants to endure their cruel treatment.
they beat and hit elephants to train them. They put those steel-hooked devices on sensitive areas (like the anus) during training. Elephants do all they do because of fear of that device in the rider's hand. If you can train an elephant without using a barbed hook device then I'd agree that its not abuse. BUT each of those riders uses those devices to signal the elephants to do something (like "pray"). I've seen the way elephants are trained and it is appalling in Thailand.
Just because elephants are fed, doesn't mean they didn't suffer from being beaten by the riders and trainers. Elephants socialize with each other. Beating them and separating them from each other bring much mental damage and depression to elephants.
The poor people here are envious of my country since they lack such a magnificent animal as elephants! Did you all know that elephants were utilized in battle hundreds of years ago? If those elephants could talk to us, I have no doubt that they would be proud of the war they fought to defend this country. What about your people, specifically Americans, who have trained dogs and use them as family members? Why didn't you let them be free to be anything they wanted? Give up criticizing others and examine yourself before commenting! In addition, these elephants are well cared and they get use to it! As some of you may have already seen on TH-cam, we still have a number of wild elephants that will grab a sugar cane as a toll fee!
