I've found that shoogoo and drywall tape was extremely messy and time consuming. Moved onto gorilla tape but it adds too much weight (less of an issue with bashers). Now I just reinforce the mounting holes and areas likely to scrub. Uv resin (soft) can be painted on to the inside and outside of the more fragile areas. But mostly I discovered that not crashing really is good for the body.. landing inverted is less favourable..
I would preheat the whole roll of Gorilla tape too. Leave the roll out in the sun for a few hours, or somewhere warm. That way it will be way more pliable while you are trying to conform it to the plastic body. Also, preheat the oven to 250F for about 20 minutes before you put the body in there. The body plastic probably will not start to permanently deform until you get way up to like 400 degrees or more. HOWEVER: wrap the body very loosely with aluminum foil to reflect infrared heat. The infrared heat coming straight from the heating elements of the oven WILL melt stuff. So once the oven is preheated and the body loosely wrapped in foil, heat the body in the oven for a good long while, like 10 or 15 minutes. That will get the tape nice and warm but not melting. Then take it out and quickly go over the tape with your rubbing technique using a wrench like you're doing, or possibly a pencil eraser, or a hard piece of foam rubber, or leather wrapped around something hard like a pen or flathead screwdriver.
Not sure if that is the best method but it works good. I prefer to use the super sticky drywall tape and e9000. It does take a lot of time to apply but I do not mind. Gives me something to do lol
I found the best way to do this is to buy a pint of marine grade liquid rubber, add 2 bags of shredded resin/fiberglass, stir, apply with a paintbrush. Quick, easy, and much more durable, apply multiple layers.
Great tip with heating! I've always taped my body. Sometimes I'll do the rc car body too. Works like a charm
🤣🤣
LOLOLOL
For the serpent body only mounting points probably good enough. Spoiler and front damperbridge take most hits. 😉
@@peteroosterhoff8850 I just used that for an example. Really didn't need tape for it. It's more useful for bashers.
Interesting! Thanks for the vid :)
@@Heizekel77 you're welcome, thanks for watching!
@@ICRC83 Bought a roll of silver tape today as my Gorilla's out. MIght give this a try with a heat gun :)
@@Heizekel77 that should work if you mean like duct tape, just slightly less strong. Let me know how it goes!
@@ICRC83 Yep, duct tape :) I was going to enhance a body with just the tape and then stumbled upon your vid. Will surely make a vid when I do it.
@@Heizekel77 cool. Don't forget to subscribe!
What ever happened to shoe goo and drywall mess tape lol
Haha that never appealed to me for that reason. Thanks for watching!
I've always used an old hair dryer from my wife. But I found when its a body I painted the heat tends to pull the paint up.
Good point about the paint!

@@wolfiecrawlsrc58 thanks for watching! Lol yeah, less crashes are always the goal!
the better way is a can of flex seal, the color don't mater. make sure the body is clean and put 3 to 5 coats on the inside, works amazing
Nice. Not sure it's better but sounds like a good way!
@ICRC83 way less labor, less weight , no heating needed and more durable

Looks like someone has done this before! Lol. Thanks for watching!
For me shoo goo and dry wall tape always works well, but this is a good alternative if you do not want to work with fiberglass and toxic chemicals
@@STDriver92 haha, it's all a little unhealthy. Thanks for watching!

Cement tape and E6000. It’s sloppy and adds weight, but deff worth it. It’s like rubber tar.

I go extra heavy in the creased parts of the shell.
Similar to what I do with the tape

I put my tire in the oven.
I've never tried that one!
