The Elephanta Caves is on Elephanta Island, which is connected to Mumbai by ferry services from the Gateway of India. The journey from the Gateway of India to Elephanta Caves takes approximately one hour. Ferry tickets need to be retained for the return trip. As soon as you reach the island, you will find toy trains waiting for you, which will take you to Elephanta Caves in just five minutes. Toy train tickets must be retained for the return trip. In accordance with local regulations, one must pay a tax in order to enter the island.
