Darkwood is one of the scariest games I've ever played. Not sure it is the right "type" of horror game for Insym's channel, but I would LOVE to see him try it!
It might have been too recent to be considered nostalgic but I was really into that game that’s like Welcome to the Game where you have to dox and kill the hitman sent to kill you by your old friend.
Your Monstrum playthroughs are some of my favorite content. Imagine how insane escaping the ship while avoiding all 3 monsters at the same time would be
@Insym 41:15 they definitely move all appliances like that. they ship them out in bulk and then its on the buyers to distribute from the port. when an appliance is defective and you use warranty to replace it they take the defective one and send it back but it can sit in a warehouse for a year or more until they gather enough defective ones to justify buying the shipping container to send them back because doing it one at a time would end up costing more than the profit margin on that unit due to size and distance from the manufacturer
@@Breelik The more you sprint, the taller your character gets. It’s such a weird glitch but it might have to do with the visual effect of your FOV growing when you sprint.
@@Breelik actually something REALLY bad could happen, and that is that after a certain amount of time, your character would get too tall to fit inside lockers, effectively making it impossible to hide inside them 🤣
How about one of the old RPGMaker horror games like Witch's House, Mad Father, or Corpse Party? Also, how about Vanish, Outlast, and/or a Slenderman game?
perfect time to binge watch some Insym and catch up on my to-watch playlist lol. it's raining and pitch black outside, this is gonna be awesome!!! thanks so much for everything you do Insym, been loving nostalgia month so far
God I love this game. Played it enough times to get all endings with all monsters but it was not easy. If you ever plan on coming back to this game and want some advice I'll list it here: First 3-5: The first 3-5 minutes of the game are your safe heaven from the monsters. It's best to use this time to find one defensive item, and some light sources or distractions. Finding objective items are also wanted during this but not expected to be found. Best objective item you can find is the duct tape, since it has infinite uses to block cameras but once used on the raft, can no longer be used. From here comes general tips and monster tips. General tips: clear floor by floor as quick and thoroughly as you can, always keeping a couple hiding spots prepped for an unexpected monster appearance. When being chased by a monster, hiding spots are a last resort as sometimes the monster can insta kill you if you're found in them, hence why you want distractibles. Throwing them in a room you run past can make you lose chase quicker. Door locks are also a last resort. If the door is locked while in chase, once the monster breaks it down they will ALWAYS search hiding spots, lowering your chances of getting out of this situation. If it isn't locked, they almost never search hiding spots and considered it a lost chase from endurance. If you believe you won't get caught up to in a chase, just run across the map until chase is Lost. Better chance of living and keeping your resources available as monsters can destroy hiding spots they search. If at all possible NEVER go to the cargo bay to search for items. It is a death sentence to go there because of its 3D maze like structure and lack of awareness for where the monster is. Not to mention the cumbersome task of climbing up bays. Now for monster specific tips. The Brute: Generally the considered to be the easiest of the three. Brutes prescence is easily identifiable from his loud foot steps. The scary thing about Brute is his strength. If you're in his line of sight for too long he'll do a charge attack and catch up quicker than all the monsters. He also breaks down doors the fastest, and destroys hiding spots. All this strength comes at the caveat of him being not so smart, searching the least amount of hiding spots and being the easiest to lure with distractibles. While going into the cargo bay agaisnt him isn't as bad as the other two monsters, his footsteps become echoy and hard to discern which floor he is on. He is also the only monster immune to the flare gun. The Hunter: My personal least favorite monster. The Hunter is what I refer to as a constant or Imminent, looming threat. What makes her different from the other two is that she is ALWAYS nearby, just in a vent waiting for there to be too much noise or a hidden timer to run out before popping out and doing a search, essentially making no place with a vent safe. If that wasn't bad enough she can place egg traps just about anywhere but most prominently in the cargo bay, making her almost the worst monster to go into the cargo bay with. Stepping near these traps will have her pop out immediately and begin a chase. She is also the easier monster to find in the first 3-5. Simply run all the way down to the bottom levels of the ship. If you hear her creepy bubbly ambience or see the lights are green, you're playing agaisnt the Hunter. She has an average chase speed and average door breaking speeds but she is smarter than the brute, so she will search more hiding spots and place traps where she last lost you in order to make your escape that much harder. Best tip to play against her is to play slowly and stealthily and staying near unopened vents. When she pops out you'll hear it and hear her scream, giving you ample opportunity to hide before she can find you. The Fiend: Generally considered the hardest monster, I find them to be easy to escape from chase but hard to avoid. Fiend is hard to avoid because of their form of presence detection. Not only do you hear the creepy music, but the lights on the floor the fiend is on, as well as one floor above and below it, will begin to flicker. This tied with its non directional audio cues makes it impossible to discern if it's on your floor or a different floor. Because of this as well, Fiend is THE WORST monster to go into the cargo bay with, since you will not be able to discern if it's nearby without a flashlight on hand and even then it's not 100% reliable. Fiend is the slowest monster in chase, easily being able to outrun it if it weren't for the fact it had a special line of sight ability. When you're in it's line of sight in a chase, purple veins will begin to surround the screen, once fully surrounded the player will be stunned for a lengthy time and take damage, giving the fiend equal time to keep you in chase range for the ability to proc again and potentially kill you that way. So being inside isn't a bad thing as you'll be able to cut corners to render the ability null. Fiend has an average "breaking" time because it doesn't break the door down but rather unlocks it with its telekenetic powers. Fiend is the smartest of the monsters searching up to 80% of the hiding spots in the room and ignoring distractibles more often than not, making hiding a nearly useless tool agaisnt the monster from chase. The Fiend is also easy to find out because the upper levels of the camera floors and lower levels of the ships will have no power and be dark, giving a massive sign it's the Fiend that's in play. I hope these tips help you Insym and anyone who is thinking of playing this game with some help.
Loved this game, played it dozens of times. The Brute still manages to scare me shitless, and I find it still 10x harder when he's the monster. You should try the "extended settings" mod for this game, it adds tons of options.
I really enjoy this replaying games you do recently, refreshing horror games that most of us might even have forgotten by now. How about replaying The Quarry aswell? I really loved that playthrough, it might not have that much replayability but it would still be cool to see it again
I’m having a blast with the nostalgia month !! It’s such a cool idea and I’m discovering some games I didn’t know of that are absolute gems like this one. Can’t wait to see what you’ve planned next ! ♥️♥️♥️
Good to see that this game is doing better than monstrum 2 XD. Team Junkfish need to go back to updating this game. Making it better. More immersive, more scary if you will
Unfortunately, they said that they wouldn’t update this game again. Though, the mods are pretty interesting. There’s a mod where it adds a new monster named “Sparky” which is a unused/scrapped monster and was apparently going to the first monster just like the Brute.
Ah the fiend. Locks don't work, he likes to hang out right outside rooms you've hidden in rather than search them, and you have to break line of sight or die, lol.
Really need to pay more attention to the Fiend's effect on the lights. He's also the slowest monster, so run from one end of the boat to the other when he's near to give yourself search time.
During the first run did anyone else tense up every time he would sprint around a corner, decided to loot a room after opening a door, or tape up a camera without looking around first? It's insane to me that he lasted so long while being so reckless and unaware of his surroundings
Gotta play this some day. Heck I barely dare getting out of A: The Bunkers " safe " zone😂 However I get ideas quickly and one, if the lore/ story of the latter allows it, why not have the tunnel monster have different frightening "skins"/ light model tweaks on same frame and sound sets for each playthrough, if not different models entirely?
Oh man... I'v eplayed so much of this game. And I also think fiend is the hardest monster - pro tip: The lihgts always flicker a little, it's when they go on-off-on-off at even ~1 second intervals that he's around, and they only flicker if he's on that floor, so it's most dangerous around stairs in my experience. ... Reinstalling for sure. Also two bugs: 1) The fiend's music is bugged; it keeps playing long after it's lost you. 2) If you hide in a locker and pause the game, go afk, eat dinner, etc then come back you're super tall - too tall to hide in lockers any more. XD Also also: There's always a fuse and a flashlight in your starting room.
I love dis game!!!! Got it myself and enjoyed it quite a lot. Keep up the great work always love your long content vidoes that I can watch while doing stuff
