Back in the 1980's it cost $10 per person to ride the express elevator to the top floor as a tourist. I thought that was a lot of money back then so I just went into the ground floor lobby and looked around for free. Seems all so surreal these days. I recall the story of one lady on the sidewalk below not very close to the buildings was killed when one of the massive airplane jet engines fell on her as it completed its falling trajectory.

    • @johnl6176
      @johnl6176 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Except there wasn't an express elevator. You still had to get out at the sky lobbies and catch the next elevator up. It was beyond the technology of the time to have an elevator that could travel that far.

When you watch the top section of the tower above the impact it starts to collapse with the weight of 15 to 20 stories. It definitely looks like it starts a pancake effect. The floors below can't take it. Down it goes till it looses momentum near the bottom of the tower. I don't think explosives were used.

WTC 1 and WTC 2 Collapse
Mohamed Atta crashed American Airlines Flight 11 into the northern facade of the North Tower. The aircraft, traveling at about 404 knots (about 466 miles per hour (750 km/h)) and carrying about 10,000 U.S. gallons (38,000 L) of jet fuel, hit between the 93rd and 99th floors of the North Tower.
Gene Corley, licensed structural engineer and VP at Construction Technology Laboratories. He headed the FEMA probe into the collapse of the towers. Corley and his team collected and photographed airplane debris on the roof of Building 5 (9 stories) on the northeast corner of the site. One of the photos clearly shows a piece of the plane that has windows. You can see the photo in "Debunking 9/11 Myths, Why Conspiracy Theories Can't Stand Up To The Facts" He told Popular Mechanics "It's... from the United Airlines plane that hit Tower 2." He looked at crash footage from ABC News and tracked the trajectory of the fragments from Tower 2. The piece of fuselage had the gray and blue markings of United Airlines. Keep in Mind the plane that hit the North Tower was American Airlines flight 11.
Vincent Dunn, Former Deputy Fire Chief of the FDNY and co-author of Collapse of Burning Buildings: Kerosene jet fuel when ignited burns at 2012º F to 2190º F.(135,000 BTUs per pound). Steel loses half of is load bearing capability at 1000º F to 1100º F. and will begin to fail to hold up it's load. At the time of impacts, each plane was carrying around 10,000 gallons of jet fuel. About 40 percent poured down the central core elevator shafts and stair wells, igniting fires on various floors.
Steel is usually protected with an insulating foam to prevent the steel from heating up to those temperatures. FDNY knew of problems with the insulation. Primer coating applied to the steel reduced the adhesion by about 2/3rd. It was dropping off during construction, even more was of course knocked off from the aircraft impact. It crumbled at the touch of a hand.
Most of the fuel, about 4000 gallons, poured down the core column area through the elevator and utility shafts. Jet fuel when ignited burns at 2012 to 2190 deg F. Wood fires burn between 900 to 1200 degrees F in the hottest part of the fire. It's the jet fuel that caused the molten metal in the WTC wreckage.
According to the NIST report: None of the recovered steel samples showed evidence of exposure temperatures above 600 deg. C. [1112 deg. F] for as long as 15 minutes. This was based to annealing studies that established the set of time and temperature conditions necessary to alter the steel micro structure.
The Inner Core of 47 columns and the Outer Most (load bearing) Wall were the main support components for the Twin Towers. On most floors there were no columns in the middle for additional support. Very lite construction to reach 110 floors. The lite-est buildings in NYC. The designers of the Twin Towers called this a "leap to lite-ness". The other buildings in NY have a "skeletal grid" type of construction.
The only thing that held up most of these floors of 60 foot UNSUPPORTED bar joists are (1) the 47 INNER CORE COLUMNS and (2) OUTER (LOAD) BEARING WALL at the outer edges of the building. That's it. No other supports were between the core and the outside bearing wall for these floors. Yamasaki's design included building facades sheathed in aluminum-alloy. The World Trade Center was one of the most-striking American implementations of the architectural ethic of Le Corbusier, and it was the seminal expression of Yamasaki's Gothic modernist tendencies.
The unique design called for lite weight to reach 110 stories. The inner core columns (the core also held elevators, stairs, and utility shafts) and outer wall were the primary components that held the "gravity load". FEMA and NIST confirmed the buildings fell due fires heating steel (missing much of the fire insulation). David Biggs-who is a STRUCTURAL ENGINEER at Troy, New York-based Ryan-Biggs and Associates and member of the Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) states: paraphrased:
When each tower started collapsing the weight from all the floors above the collapsed zone came down with PULVERIZING force on the highest intact floor. Unable to take the massive energy of impact, that floor fails and transmits the energy to the floor below and so begins a chain reaction called "pancaking". The steel gets thinner as the building height increases. It does not require an explosion to start.
Air fills almost all the volume inside any building. Mark Loizeaux of Controlled Demolition, Inc (established by his father in 1947) states- If you look at any building that's imploded you'll see explosives placed primarily on the ground and basement. Why? Because you want to remove columns where you have the most potential energy as possible (floors above). The collapsing of the buildings didn't start on the bottom. There are no explosives made big enough to bring down these buildings.
If someone attempted make these charges they would weigh thousands of pounds each. Forklifts would be needed to get them in the buildings. The biggest available charges at that time were able to cut through a maximum of 3 inches thick. The columns at the base of the Twin Towers were 14 inches on a side. If charges big enough could be made it would hypothetically take 2 months of 75 people to remove the fireproofing off the columns, then place and wire the charges. IT JUST CAN'T BE DONE.
"If you look at a modern high-rise building, it has a density of around 8 to 9 pounds per cubic foot. That's lite-er than balsa wood, which is 10 pounds per cubic foot. These structures look massive, but they're mostly air. The are air punctuated with thin layers of concrete and steel" says Jon Magnusson, CEO of Magnusson Klemencic Associates, an engineering firm based in Seattle, WA. One of the firm's founders was the late Leslie Robertson, John Skilling's (one of two structural engineers primarily responsible for the design of the twin towers) chief colleague in the WTC project told the New Yorker magazine in a November 2001 article that he and Skilling engineered the towers to withstand the impact of a Boeing 707 (largest commercial airliner at the time). "We studied it, and designed for the impact of such an aircraft. The next step would have been to think about the fuel load, and I've been scratching my brain, but I don't know what happened there, whether in all of our testing we thought about it. Now we know what happens - it explodes. I don't know if we considered the fire damage that would cause."
Loose Change editors claim that NYFD could use 2 standard hoses to knock down fires. At 3:25 of INSIDE 9/11 : ZERO HOUR (PART 3 of 4) show Battalion Chief Orio Palmer and Fire Marshall Ronald Bucca in the South Tower on floor 78 calling the men of ladder 15 who are on their way up.
Palmer "...We have two ISOLATED POCKETS OF FIRE. We should be able to knock it down with 2 lines. Radio that 78th floor, numerous 10-45, code ones. (dead bodies)". Also don't forget about the 767 that crashed into Tower 2. The cargo bay held about 9 tons of luggage, mail, electrical equipment, and food. Combine this with the cabin seats and carry on luggage the plane brought about 14 tons of solid combustibles into the tower with it. INSIDE 9/11 : ZERO HOUR (PART 3 of 4) at 10:25 shows the outer bearing wall on the South Tower starting to collapse. This initiates the entire building collapse. Also note the collapse starts from the upper portion of the building continuing to the bottom. This is called "pancaking". At 12:33 shows a picture of smoke and debris all over Manhattan. At
25:50 FDNY Battalion Chief Richard Picciotto is buried with 13 other survivors inside
what's left of the core stare well of the North Tower. "From the 6th floor down, this lone
section of stairs withstood the collapse" They manage to claw their way out.
Thomas Eagar, Ph. D. "It's very difficult to knock down something that's this massive.
There's a million tons here that had to start accelerating, and moving towards the ground.
And what happened in this case is you had a whole floor where the fires were. That was one acre, and that steel was being softened by the heat of the fire. And as those beams bent and buckled in the heat the whole floor started to collapse, and it may have collapsed a little one side and a little on the other side, may have taken a couple of seconds. But once it got some of it's momentum, you have another fifteen or twenty floors above it. Well fifteen or twenty floors is several hundred thousand tons. Now you have a pile driver just pushing all the other floors down." (pancaking)
The main components of these structures are the bathtub, foundation, Inner Core of 47 columns, the outer most (load bearing) wall, and the hat truss. The hat truss held everything together at the top, strengthened the core structure, and supported the large antenna on North Tower.
In a perfect world the fuel would be evenly distributed on each floor. Unfortunately we live in a messy imperfect world. The jet fuel set up pockets of varied temperatures based on where different combustible materials were. The strength of steel varies by temperature. The pancaking started about 15 or 20 floors from the top near where the 767's crashed the perimeter. 15 or 20 floors is several hundred thousand tons. You won't get a perfect symmetrical collapse. The hat truss, the varied temps, where the planes brought in all of their cargo, and location of airplane crash into the outer bearing wall is why you wont have a perfect pancaking of floor after floor at the base.
INSIDE 9/11 : ZERO HOUR (PART 3 of 4) at 10:25 shows the outer bearing wall on the South Tower starting to collapse. This initiates the entire building collapse. Also note the collapse starts from the upper portion of the building continuing to the bottom. This is called pancaking.

This is an interesting first attempt at a flight re-creation. I would recommend you give it another try. Go back and study the actual flight path the plane took. There are sites out there that show the path, heading, altitude, everything that is known, about all 4 9/11 flights. Your approach into New York appears to be coming from Long Island, and that's not how it happened.

Michael George lmao box cutters were easily used to get into the cockpit

@@movieclipsintheater3841 that's my point! It's not like they shot their way through to the cockpit, it was box cutters! As a passenger, stewardess or pilot, would you rather be, dead or cut?

Very good recreation. With black boxes never being found one can only imagine what happened on those planes that day. This was something no one thought could ever happen. The only clues they did have were from calls the flight attendants were able to make. God bless all the poor souls lost that fateful day.

+X333Dylan333X Liberals are so hell-bent on blaming Bush and Reagan for all of our current problems. Many liberals I've spoken to have blamed the Great Recession crisis on Reagan! It's absurd.

+X333Dylan333X Maybe if you bothered to educate yourself you could see why many of us know it was an inside job. Honestly, you hold no weight since you went to the media for your source on 9/11.

***** Nano thermite can't even burn all the way through an xbox, let alone steel. Also, when steel is heated at high temperatures, JUST LIKE ANY OTHER METAL and proven countless times by metalworkers of various professions, it becomes VERY malleable. If steel couldn't be heated and transferred into a malleable state, then many vehicles would have never existed, medieval European armor would not be made of metal, and swords would still be stone clubs. Blaming 9/11 on an opposing political party is driven by political motive and not striving for the truth of reality.

Okay, Jet fuel burns at 1500 degrees. I acknowledge that. Yes, steel does melt at 2700 degrees. But, if you think, 1500 degrees is more than half of 2700 degrees, therefore, the steel was losing more than half of its strength, essentially giving it the usefulness of a wet spaghetti noodle.

Didn't have to melt. Just get hot enough to lose it's integrity.
