Get a test kit that tests for both Free Chlorine and Total Chlorine. When Total Chlorine = Free Chlorine (same value), there are no chloramines present. If Total Chlorine > Free Chlorine, then chloramines are present.
Thanks so much for the information. I have 2 questions for you, I would be happy if you answer them; 1) Does boiling drinking water completely remove chlorine and they say that boiled water does not contain minerals and cannot be used as drinking water, is this true? 2) When using a UV lamp, is it enough for water to pass through the UV lamp or should I leave the submersible UV lamp in the water container for a few hours? Thanks a lot.
Hey thanks for posting your questions! 1) Yes, chlorine and some disinfection byproducts/ VOCs can be boiled out of water. No boiling water does not completely demineralize water, and no it is not true that boiled water cannot be used for drinking water. 2) There are specific UV lamps designed for different water treatment applications. The most important thing to remember is that the level of suspended solids in the water directly impacts the effectiveness of the UV, which is why pre-filtration to remove sediment and other suspended particles is so vitally important
@@waterfilterguru ✌🏽Thanks for replying ! It’s been difficult trying to find a shower filter that eliminates fluoride & chlorine. Idc about a particular brand . The Ytube reviews on showers filters suck, just keeping it 💯. Keep up the good work, I’m a new subie . When I saw your review on the Clearly filter , I knew you were the real deal . @@firewater369 Gotcha! unfortunately I'm not aware of any shower filters that reduce fluoride. This contaminant is a bit more difficult to remove, and most shower filters really only target chlorine and disinfection byproducts. If you want to remove fluoride from your shower water as well, you might have to consider installing a point of entry whole home system.
UV light within the range of 180 to 400 nm induces photochemical reactions that result in the breakdown of free chlorine, leading to the creation of hydrochloric acid.
@@waterfilterguru i’m sorry that’s not correct. Hydrochloric acid is toxic to the environment and to people. I thought UVC light, especially medium pressure, turned free chlorine into chloride ions. Is that correct?
We don't have a video on it yet, but the best treatment methods to reduce chloramine are catalytic carbon and reverse osmosis. Learn more here waterfilterguru.com/how-to-remove-chloramine-from-water/
Clorox is concentrated chemical, compared to the residual disinfectant added to water at the treatment plant. I'd advise trying to remove it from the dispenser to address the issue
Chlorine evaporates easily chloramine on the othet hand does not the reason its added is to the keep Chlorine from evaporating. Chloramine is about like trying to remove fluoride from water which main way to remove fluoride is distillation Em ceramics will remove chlorine and fluoride and em ceramics can remove micro plastics too. I don't know how much chloramine they remove.
Hey thanks for your comment. While its true fluoride can be more difficult to remove than other contaminants, it's important to note that distillation is not the only viable treatment method. Activated alumina filters and reverse osmosis are good options for fluoride reduction as well. Catalytic carbon is an effective treatment method for chloramine.
I live in a trailer park the trailer park has a artesian well is spring waterthere is a lot of chlorine in the water and it's coming through my faucet and my shower I have COPD and it's hard for me to take a shower or to stand there and wash my dishes because of the chlorine smell coming out of my faucet and out of my showerI can't believe this kind of have that much chlorine coming through your pipes into your houseI don't think it's right it's only supposed to be 0.2% chlorine you should not be smelling it through your faucet or your shower or in your house at all

What is the best filter for the bathtub faucet? Want to filter the chlorine and other chemicals in my baby’s tub water.
All the bath-ball style filters should be reducing chlorine, as long as they have activated carbon media
For letting it sit, is it ok to have it in a closed glass container or will it not evaporate that way?
No the container needs to be open to the air
Does chlorine water damage the hairs folicals and scalp..??
Good question for your doc or other medical professional
Water distillers work as well.
They do! I didn't include distillation in this video because it's not necessarily the most practical for chlorine reduction specifically
@@waterfilterguru I understand. Just boiling the water is enough to take care of the chlorine. No fancy distiller necessary.
Is there a chloramine test to confirm whether its been removed successfully?
