I find this very minimalistic, in that ideas are sustained for long periods of time with either none or only very slight changes. There is a great deal of sombre distant chanting as if coming from some distant cathedral or tomb.
For me, the sixth symphony is some kind of universal mass, a requiem in memory of those who passed away in the name of birth. The concepts of life, death, and birth are here, as it were, merged into one.
