My wife and I stayed at Lahaina Shores in October of 2022 as part of our 25th anniversary trip. Maui and Lahaina have always held a special place in our hearts because we were engaged in the crater at the top of Haleakala, celebrated that night in Lahaina(David Paul's), and visited again for our honeymoon and again a year after that. We were so deeply saddened to see the devastation and loss of life in such a great place. I remember watching your first video and showing my wife how L.S. was still standing, yet Spanky's Riptide and the building next door were gone. We only hope that the local people can fully rebuild their lives and that the town can somehow rebuild that charm we remember.
Thank you so much for sharing this! Lahaina Shores is the only place we've stayed during our visits to Maui. We are looking forward to it reopening and staying there again.
Just thought about something. We used to park in the underground parking next door as the LS parking lot was not large enough. I wonder what will happen with the parking situation after everything is rebuilt?
Glad it did not burn. my wife and i stayed there in september 2000. Are first anniversary september 11th . We where on the 3rd floor right in font of the hot tub..one night in the hot tub we where joined by a senator and her husband from DC. That was pretty cool. I know my wife would love to go back mabey buy are 30th we can make that happen..aloha from idaho
Stayed there four times going back to 2001. It was always my dream to eventually buy a unit there closer to retirement. I wonder how much they've lost in value. I guess I'll peak in a week or so.
Jesse, I'm curious as to why you refer to Lahaina most often as "Lahaina Town". Is there any confusion about where you're referring to? I've never been to the island but have been fascinated by your videos. Well done and very interesting "travelogs".
It’s a fairly common phrase for residents. Not sure why others say town, but I do it because some people consider the general West Maui area as Lahaina (all the same zip code). Lahaina Town is more specific.
Off subject a little. Could you find out how Keali’i Riechel, world know musician and historian, and his beautiful family are doing? I can’t find out a single thing.
Forgive me for intruding. Keali'i is an ex kumu hula of mine and at last contact has retired from performing, is in a self-imposed semi exile from public life, and with his partner of many years. We all wish him nā pōmaikaʻi (many blessings) and of course would love to be blessed with his mele once again
Honolulu is the island for nightlife...but if you want Spring Break wild nightlife, Hawai'i isn't the place for you. Hawaiians want visitors who'll respect the aina (land) and culture.
Just curious, when you say this complex is a hotel/resort building, does that mean it can be converted to a short term investment property (similar to airbnb.)
The new listing is now live and can be seen here: www.hirealestateexperts.com/listing/404315-475-front-st-unit-332-lahaina-hi-96761/
We stayed there for a week a few years ago and really enjoyed it. Glad it was saved from the fire ! Thank you for the update on this property.

Lahaina Shores is my favourite place to stay! I have been enjoying it since the early 1990s. Many memories made there!

Hi Jesse, thanks for the video! I was and still am interested into that building - how can I reach out to you?
Send me an email at Jesse@HiRealEstateExperts.com
Who's paying for all those Lahaina Shores upgrades? Insurance or owner assessment?
Sounds like it is covered by insurance. 👍🏼
I'm curious why it wasn't allowed to reopen as is. It doesn't seem like it was damaged. Am I missing something?
The whole area looks so lonely 😢

It needs a Nightlife !!!
Totally agree, but Maui in general never had a real nightlife. Bunch of old farts going to bed by 7 pm 😂

Yes, short term rentals are allowed by zoning.
