I got this piece today as of typing this comment. This was the last thing I ever expected to get since one of the two district honor bands would be playing it (not the one I’m in) It sounded so surreal hearing this in person and I’m kinda excited to play this piece at my concert in may
What a great piece for band by Eric Whitacre! I've played this great work some time ago (euphonium) but not quite as bright a tempo as the USAF band takes it. I like it a bit brighter. Very well performed! (nice camera work too).
I heard this work yesterday for the first time by the Banda Sinfonica de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires and wanted to hear it again. I played oboe in my youth during high school in Chicago and enjoyed the work and the oboe soloist.
Find a place with great echoing acoustics and just play it over and over again. I played the solo (on euphonium) at the Kennedy center once a long time ago in college and that’s all I did to prep. Good luck enjoy this beautiful piece
A girl I know is also playing the solo on euphonium for this. She was struggling a bit at first, but she got the hang of it by practicing slowly especially 🔥
I was just wondering, if it could be at all possible, for the U S. Air Force Band, to put on an online concerto, in honor of two legendary songwriters and orchestra conductors, namely John Williams and Elmer Bernstein, whose memorable melodies can be heard on hundreds of films. Thank you.
Absolutely breathtaking oboe playing. The sensitivity and ability of the soloist is very admirable
