This clip just turned up a few years ago - it was considered lost for decades. A miraculous rediscovery of a visual record of what is probably the most artistically vital period of the Kinks career.
Vocals are live and Dave's high harmonies come through loud and clear. This is the original recording track. This live version, vocally, is superior to the recorded version!!!
@krankiekat I literally just discovered the kinks this morning and i can't fucking stop listening to them. every song is good. every single fucking song i've heard so far. I feel the same way i did when i first discovered the Beatles.
I have the original LP of the Village Preservation Society with this track. I have loved the Kinks for ever. Ray Davies is a genius song writer and his brother Dave is a naturally gifted guitar player.
Their vocals are live as they sing to the original recorded track! The vocals here are superior to the studio vocals on the original record - although both are tremendous!!!
MrGoldenthroat The Beatles are the greatest band in the history of music that point is beyond arguing about. A few feet away stand the Stone's, there has never been a greater front man than Jagger. The kinks were under a ban from the mid sixties but it didn't matter their sound was becoming less rock and more english stage music, but the Kinks being blessed with Ray Davies (songwriter) this is their greatest period in music. As for the Who what can I say FM RADIO wouldn't be the same without them.
a brilliant group - a huge influence on pop music on so many levels -- How many successful acts out there started out covering or ripping off Kinks songs & ideas ???
Three feet from the microphone ? They hardly tried to pretend they were playing. You can tell They didn't like faking, but were willing to do it with good humor. What a superlative performance nonetheless.!
@mixmmick Whoa whoa cool it, that wasn't meant as an insult against either band. Simply that I was kind of bummed to find out that 'Warning' was actually a rip off of this (whether a conscious one or not). Kind of took the magic out the song. But both bands have a lot of other great songs.
@JohnnnyThunder ..... as much as I Loved Peter there should still be Life After Breakfast I would go with the next best on bass John Dalton...... RIP Peter You are missed......

Incredible quality too
Not releasing this as a single was the biggest crime the Kinks ever committed
I love how Dave ALWAYS looks pleased as punch to be performing.
I love the Pete Quaife's bass line, it's so cool!
THEE Pete Quaife 💪
Pete is a great bassman. You can learn from him
I love how smiley Dave always was.
he's grinning like he just dropped some l. haha
Its his default facial muscle position.
1969 smiles are the best
I’ve never met him but he looks like such a darling sweetheart!!
He absolutely is 😊@@lavenderhoney8909
Dave is so frickin happy playing this song, it is a FUN song no doubt. I woke up with this song in my head for no reason and had to play it!
Dave's smile is just so✨ adorable✨😩❤️
it permanent, I LOVE IT
Dave is absolutely gorgeous ❤

One of the top 10 greatest songs in music history!!! Everyone should know this phenomenal tune!!!!
8 thumbs down - these people are moronic slobs!
@@MrGoldenthroat
It's outrageous!
Ahhhh! Nothing better than the Ray and Dave Show ❤️ Love those familial harmonies
One of their absolute greatest songs without question!! A true artistic masterpiece!!
Bassist Pete Quaife (deceased) doing his best Bill Wyman impression.
On point as fuck
1:35...He looks as if he'd rather be anywhere but there.
At a couple points he smiles

I literally just discovered the kinks this morning and i can't fucking stop listening to them. every song is good. every single fucking song i've heard so far. I feel the same way i did when i first discovered the Beatles.

A tremendous tune - easily one of their top ten best songs ever!!
I have the original LP of the Village Preservation Society with this track. I have loved the Kinks for ever. Ray Davies is a genius song writer and his brother Dave is a naturally gifted guitar player.

Thanks to green day, almost 15 years ago, i knew the kinks . Great homage
Their vocals are live as they sing to the original recorded track! The vocals here are superior to the studio vocals on the original record - although both are tremendous!!!
no one blames blood sweat and tears for stealing this chord progression but they did it before green day. don’t forget that.
Quintessential Kinks and I love seeing how relaxed and enjoying it all they are. Awesome song by the masters. Matt thank you for posting this!
The drums on this are sublime.
Is there any chance for me to play in this band? It would be just like heaven!
Every time I listen to mid- to early 70’s Kinks ...I feel like I’m in paradise.
Thank you "The Umbrella Academy" for bring this song to everyone... always loved The Kinks!
I was introduced to.this song back in the late 90's via a commercial (think it was HP). Was hooked when I first heard it.
Green Day and Mac Demarco are big fans of this one!

Love watching Dave on the backups
Best guitar riff ever !
Just Perfect!!!!!!!!!!
Phenomenal performance
I love this. God save The Kinks!
It's touching how proud Dave smiles
Great song and video, Matt Poole! It's a pity sound and images aren't more in synch though.
Green Day's "WARNING" oh my God!
They had their share of rough times, but they enjoyed what they did, they looked like they enjoyed it, and they always did it well.
One of the greatest bands in the history of rock and roll, just behind the Beatles, Stone's and tied with the Who!
Gamers -The Kinks are vastly superior in every way to the bands you've mentioned - SORRY!!
MrGoldenthroat

a brilliant group - a huge influence on pop music on so many levels -- How many successful acts out there started out covering or ripping off Kinks songs & ideas ???

Amazing band.
@SEVFEST No Peter Quaife. :-( R.I.P.
need to share this.
Village Green Preservation Society is an excellent album
Great Song!
Three feet from the microphone ? They hardly tried to pretend they were playing. You can tell They didn't like faking, but were willing to do it with good humor. What a superlative performance nonetheless.!
i don't get it
it's a live vocal
Ken Q I don’t believe they’re faking this one, it doesn’t sound perfect
@mixmmick Whoa whoa cool it, that wasn't meant as an insult against either band. Simply that I was kind of bummed to find out that 'Warning' was actually a rip off of this (whether a conscious one or not). Kind of took the magic out the song. But both bands have a lot of other great songs.
Sublime!
You mean warning sounds like this!
Almost too good!
Im here after watching umbrella academy
I love how they playback and lip sync because of the pop show^^
@JohnnnyThunder ..... as much as I Loved Peter there should still be Life After Breakfast I would go with the next best on bass John Dalton...... RIP Peter You are missed......
This song and Green Day’s warning sound so alike same chord progressions
@DeadJ0ker27 I rediscovered them on youtube and I can't stop watching them either. God Save the Kinks and Long Live Ray Davies.

Grandissimi Kinks!
Salad days are gone
Exactly! Glad I'm not the only one who's a fan of both
Ratero
Naaa 👎
A long time ago.. :)
Awesome bass player right there.
Kinks rock. No one like 'em and never will be.
Primo billyjoe, habla tu primo marvin armstrong recuerdas ese sonido que buscabas?
Scooobie Dooobie Doo....Wouldn't it be great if the Kinks reformed and played the 2012 Olympic opening ceremony supported by Chas & Dave and Madness?
The HP printer commercial theme song from a few years ago.
Is the part in the discription of the video a nod to the greenday lawsuit?
Okay Billie, explain this
Just live without warning
Lol Warning is in the suggestion section on the side of the screen. Both songs are good.
Кинкс-всегда поднимают настроение, любая их песня слушается как что-то забавное, хотя знаю, о чём поют
Warning: Live without warning
This is a public service announcement, this is only a test
Dig the Music Man
Dude, as Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin once said: "We're all beggars and thieves when it comes to art!"
Cute!
This song and Green Day’s Warning sound alike same chord progressions
Same base line as “Warning” by Greenday?
What year is this?
Reminds me of Twist and Shout.
Dawg same cords as warning by Green Day
SCOOBY DOOBY DOO!! (y)
Pete Quaife love love love mmm
