    On the day before the race (it is usually an orienteering race) I jog for about 20 minutes as well + some strides, also fuel my body and have a schedule for the race day (wake up time...). Then I try to sum up the strategy of the race, mentally, technically and physically.
    By the way, I really like your channel and the videos that you make, they give me motivation if I'm feeling low and en extra of motivation if I'm already motivated. Looking forward to seeing the next video! :)

    I am a competitive equestrian (I do Eventing), it was really affirming to hear your mental tips! With horses, all the gear, the atmosphere of the competition, being outside, travel, there is SO MUCH that is out of your control and that is distracting, zapping your mental energy. Hearing you repeat different ways to save your mental energy was very helpful. And yes, we cannot spend mental energy on things that are not important! Thank you.

    Great video as always, hope to see the Redbull race in the next one! When you got stuck in traffic and talked about things that are out of your hand it reminded me of a thing that happened a long time ago, I was about 19, I was driving to a competition in the south of Sweden, I borrowed my dads car and somehow scratched it along a railing, not the best way to prepare for the competition.

    Great video Göran and methodical preparation - the point about writing things down so that you don't have to carry it around in your head is excellent. I also try to visualize the race and how I will feel at different points on the course, look over elevation profiles and make some notes, of course for your event here it's pretty obvious how you will feel :)

    Hope it goes well. Thanks again for the great content and insight. Pigging backing on an earlier comment about packing, having options for ultras in the mountains is essential. Even if you think it’s going to be warm, don’t bank on it. I ran an ultra in Canmore, AB today and it started with short sleeves and sun, by 30km in it was snow and hail. A lot of ppl appeared to be suffering.

    Writing down the plan is a good tip. I feel that running the day before is mostly down to personal preference re: what makes you FEEL most fresh.

    • @goranwinblad
      @goranwinblad 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah you are right for some people it might not be the best. Especially if you usually only run about 3 times a week I don’t think there’s a point in running at all the day before a race maybe take a short walk instead then.

    I normally take it easy the last 2 days before the race and especially the night before, but sometimes you have that kind of "anxiety" before a race day and maybe you did not get as much sleep as you should but in the end is ok. In terms of food, I get some pasta / rice and think ahead of my breakfast for the next day (coffee / some bread with jam / yoghurt with granola). I think this time I will use a bit of massage gun and do some stretching.
    Race day coming next weekend. Marathon here I go!

    Hey Göran, you were wearing the HOKA ATR Challenger 6 also during your 100k race but you chanced it once for a Salomon shoe. But then you finished the race again in the Hokas. I was observing this because I was thinking about using the same shoes for ultras. Why did you chance the shoes? Did you regret your choice? Will you use them in future races or will you use them more as a daily trainer like you do in this video? Greetings from Münster, GER

    • @goranwinblad
      @goranwinblad 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Sören! Yeah I was wearing the ATR and switched on one short section to the Lasportiva Helios. The switch was just to vary the load on my feet a bit, but it was super nice to switch back to the ATRs again I think those were perfect for me in a race like this one. I wouldn't race with them in anything else than Ultras but I still use them a lot as daily trainers. Hope you find a shoe that fits you perfect for your upcoming ultras 😊
