    Mr Edgoose! thanks for this video, is there any way to use let's say a footswitch with 10 buttons to trigger each pad with and individual midi loop? If that were the case this thing could compete with a beat buddy!

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You mean a MIDI foot pedal? Something like the FCB1010? Yes. Totally. It would just be sending out midi notes to trigger loops on the M12, but then ANY sampler or sample playback device could do the same with a midi foot pedal.

      @@edruminfo That's amazing, thank you sir! I'm looking at a Bugera FSB106A, Currently I play a guitar connected to a Boss OC5 to replace a basist through its own separate AMP, and was thinking of getting a beat buddy drum machine, but if this works the M12 will beat it by a mile!

      @@samsschool3639 If I was doing the same, I'd use Ableton on a laptop, and still use a midi footpedal (it looks like the FSB106B might have been discontinued by the way) as it would be much more powerful, but that depends on if you want to take a laptop on stage with you.

      @@edruminfo I didin't even think of that!, I do carry 2 PC's on my rig today, that I put together myself (two small Dell Boxes that each fit in the palm of my hand, and they have massive firepower!) one for Keyscape and one for Amplitube 5 MAX, all the piano and keyboard sounds in the world, and all the guitar amps.
      Oh what an age to live in! do you remember having to balance it all on 16 MB RAM? 😁
      PS: Just bought the 106A from Gear4music, (you mention 106B)

    Hi Simon, these videos are really helpful, thanks. As well as Pattern creation which I now understand (but must practice!) how do I assign 2 or 3 patterns to the same pad so that they play in turn e.g. Verse, Chorus, Verse, Chorus etc.? And can I do that using an external trigger so I keep all the pads for live drumming over the pattern?

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi. You couldn't do that as midi files, but you could as samples very easily. Just assign each sampled loop to a different layer (A,B,C,D) and set to to alternate whenever you hit the pad. If you used a 3 zone pad you could have up to 12 loops (3 zones with 4 loops each) on a single pad. You'd just have to remember where each one was and put them in a logical position so you can access everything!

    Hello is there a way to loop something endlessy without stopping it for saving?

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't understand what you mean. You can loop any phrase or sample endlessly. You don't have to stop it to save it, but if you don't save it, and you power off, you will lose it.

    I hooked keyboard (Yamaha PSR-290) MIDI out to DTXM12 MIDI in. Keyboard volume down. I press any key of keyboard and no drum sounds are heard from DTXM12. Are there setup steps missing from the video?

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not that I'm aware of. Are you on MIDI channel 10? Is your M12 set up to receive MIDI or is it set to USB? It needs to be on MIDI (which is how it comes from the factory) so you need to go to Utility / Midi / MIDI IN/OUT and change this to MIDI if it is not already.

    • @RalphWLundvall
      @RalphWLundvall 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Found the answer. The PSR-290 is off by one octave. I just have to set the keyboard voice to Standard Kit 1. It now will activate any kit the DTXM12 is set to by keyboard presses. So easy. Indeed, any MIDI voice set on the keyboard (Grand Piano etc) is captured by Pattern Recording.

    Hi, very interesting series of video! I have some questions about the M12 that I didn't find in it. Can you explain what are the settings to connect a kick pad? Is it possible to connect any kind of kick pad, for example other brands pads? Thank you!

      Plug in the pad (any pad) to the rear trigger inputs and follow this th-cam.com/video/i-dfMigCeMk/w-d-xo.html

    Thank you Simon for this content. It's very useful and not really well known. I want to ask you are that functions (Stacking Sounds, Alternate Groups, Creating Custom Loops) possible only on DTXM12, or i can do it on DTX900, for example?

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely! The DTX900/DTXtreme3 came before the M12 and is considerably more powerful. The 900 has up to 100 layers/midi notes per zone and is a beast when it comes to MIDI manipulation. All Yamaha modules can stack up to 4 sounds/samples (with the exception of the entry level DTX402). You cant create midi loops on the DTXpro and DTXproX as they are more audio based rather than midi based. They are just as powerful, but in different areas.

    How do I set up a snare with this I can't seem to get the rim shot and snare,and rim click working only snare it's a Yamaha triple zone pad .?? Thanks

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You HAVE to use input 13. Its the only 3 zone input on the M12. You are probably using input 14/15 or 16/17 which would only work as mono (single zone) inputs with a 3 zone pad.

    Simon how do I get to the drum and percussion sounds? When I hook up the keyboard it just makes piano and synth sounds. How do I get to the drums and percussion? Please help.

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. You need to change the midi channel on the keyboard. Midi channel 10 is Drums. midi channel one is piano. And then go through all the other MIDI channels to see what sort of sound you want.

    • @edruminfo

      If you use a Kenton USB MIDI Host to convert the Launchpad USB to 5 pin midi, then yes. Unfortunately you cant go usb-usb without a computer (yet!).

    Can you control the looping functions from the Ipad app ?

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Malcolm, if you mean turning a sample into a loop, yes - its under Mode and you turn it to Hold. This will hold the sample playing after your first hit until it receives another instruction - another hit to stop it or another hit in the same group of sounds which will replace it

    does it have the capability to change the tempo of a loop or a loaded audio file on the fly? and sync with click track? ex. change the click tempo and the loop/audio tempo changes- on a live gig i play live drums along with a loop or backing tracks and might need to adjust the tempo while playing- thanks

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Bobby, well... it depends. If you want to just take an audio file and time stretch it, then no - you'll need Ableton (other programs are available but I think Ableton does it simplest and quickest). However, if you can build up your loop using individual samples and can load them onto the pads and record them, in the way I'm doing in this video, then yes. Its a little more complicated but works.
