Glad you figured it what i would like to know is why your motors dont have an internal bypass? I'm currently working on my 350 magnum MPI vortec and mine has the heads drilled for internal bypass as well as the water pump has the third hole on the starboard side mounting flange.;
Brass is soft metal going into cast steal/iron you do NOT need teflon tape or past, The soft metal will mate with the iron, iv never ever used it, However if you must 1 to 2 wraps is more than enough 4 just gets pushed out of the way. When using 2 different metals one is always softer & will conform to the other that is why they sold you soft brass fittings..
Interesting because I've read this as well. But, this is an odd combination of older 350 block with Vortec heads... I'll 100% for sure tell you that the cooling system didn't hold a stable temperature until I added the bypass hose.
@@WJsLifeonaBoat its cool i just noticed that and thought id mention it but i see you fixed it i reply along the way watching the videos and i seen you fixed it right after i said that
Did you tap A new out let fitting on the top of the water pump. As I only have A hose outlet to the heater plus larger outlet ofcourse to the radiator. Thanks
Thanks man getting my l31 together to change the junk stock intake to performer intake and 600 holley I needed this 🙌
Glad I could help!
@@WJsLifeonaBoat yes sir ty

@@nelloagostini4389 yeah, I've got no idea why these weren't drilled for the internal bypass. Who knows where these blocks came from.

Gotcha, thanks for the info.
Dissimilar metals will fuse together in marine environment without the tape.
Does this apply to an old 350 for vortec heads?
I believe so, yes.
Factory puts a by-pass directly under the left side water pump bolt, Vortex's that don't have that have the hose you are installing..

How the fuk does the background move when you fast forward omg
and if you wrap your tape the opposite direction it wouldnt come loose when you tighten it into the fittings
That's right! I seem to always get that mixed up.

@@captainchrisfishing haha all good! I thought I had corrected myself later on there.
My water pump only has 1 inlet plus outlet not a separate one for the bypass hose!
That's interesting!
What's the part number for that piece? Or do you have a link for it?
The hose with a 90° bend is from a 93-98 ZJ Jeep Grand Cherokee. The brass fittings are off the shelf from Lowes.

@@geoffernie my water pump had a pipe fitting in it already, it was just plugged. No tapping was necessary for me.
"Secret solution" is bypass from the pump to the intake? No, that's how it is stock from the factory.
That's how it should have come. But mine did not...
it worked before you tore it apart?
It did not work correctly before this Bypass Installation. Thanks.
so why would you need to modify anything you couldnt find the correct replacement thermostat?
So no thermostat was going to work... There was not a bypass installed on the engine from the manufacture. This was the only fix.
