That sound comparison between diferent drivers and contour filters worked well, thanks for sharing.
I think I get the gist of why some people love the Fostex drivers so much. You really can hear lots of details through it, even though some people's ears might start bleeding after 20 minutes 😅
For me the sound signature of the Markaudio driver was better suited. I still have some Alpair 7 MS, and I'll try them from 300Hz upwards on top of a bass cabinet. Love the wide sound space that those open up.

Without the contouring network it was a little spicy up top. Definitely more balanced with your network in place. Out of the examples I liked the corrected 6.5" Fostex. Nice work.

Your cabinet choice of a TTL and contour adjustments 🔉really brings out the best performance for this speaker (Fostex FF165WK). I own and still listen to the previous version, the FE167E’s and they are in TQWP’s with some minor DSP adjustments of their frequency response. There will be audiophiles who will purchase your product plans and be extremely pleased with the results. 😀

the other day i cut two of my thin jumper wires in half as was needed at the time and I was mortified by how thin the gauge was. If you did the same, I can almost promise you that youd never buy the thinner gauge versions of the jumper wires again.

Hi Joseph, I am very impressed about the quality of your 3d cad drawings. I am teaching myself SolidWorks for a diy speaker project, and I would love to know if the 3d drawing for the fostex driver is available anywhere online.

AER is very nice but I found that it requires some EQ to tame the highs. Or horn load them.

There ya go, hook it up with a pizo, and run them with a subwoofer, guaranteed success!

Hearing Mark audio , seemed hearing the insturment in front, the space and low base was amazing, is the cabinet heavier?

never understood single driver speakers. the juice aint worth the squeeze, as they say. that said, i enjoyed the audio samples and i thought they all sounded good. nice work with the traps.

In smaller rooms, lower listening levels, they seem to get a lot of things right in terms of tying the bass, midrange, and treble together. It’s an easier listen. The brain doesn’t have to work as hard patching everything together.
