    Our ability to sense, comprehend, and control emotions is known as emotional intelligence (EI) and is considered crucial to human flourishing. For centuries we thought that emotions and cognition were two separate things. Today we know the two interact constantly. The most relevant model, on what is referred to as EQ, was developed by John Mayer and Peter Salovey in 1990.

    definitely. it is amazing to see many schools adding a "SEL" (social and emotional learning) into their curriculums. teaching children since young age about their emotions, how to navigate them, how to be empathic and understanding towards others and towards themselves is a step forward. I can also imagine, problem solving and critical thinking could be skills practiced during those classes.

    For me, empathy towards others and self has helped a lot in regulating my emotions during stressful situations. It allows me to see the world through their lenses and see myself from a 3rd person perspective.
    This in turn helps me understand why they are acting that way and helps me formulate a neutral response which could mitigate both their hurt and the situation at hand.
    At worst, this solves nothing, but at least you can rest assured that you are not the one adding fuel to the fire and not the one getting into the hate list of other people.

    In my opinion EQ can be raised significantly by a few processes
    1.Being open minded
    2. Listening more than talking
    3. Putting yourself in the other person’s shoe
    4. Realise that there is a cause for every actions
    5. Analysing the consequences of your actions
    Of course If you want to add more to the list or comment on what I said your free to do so

      It's just irrational feelings.
      So it's bull.

    In my experience, to manage emotions or to try to Intellectually "understand" them ( with the mind) will do little. Yes, the mind will allow us to become aware of the emotions; perhaps even to repress them but emotions cannot be controlled many times( managed) through the mind. Many times we react right away according to the circumstances and the mind doesn't have the time to interfere in the outburst of emotions. Observation (not through the mind) through awareness ( it is a different kind of observation) is capable of that "understanding" but at another level. Finally, emotions known as " negative emotions" need to be healed. Those are traumas which could be released, but that is another topic. Thank you for bringing up this topic of emotional intelligence.

      It can definitely be learned! For example, writing about how we are feeling in a journal or talking about it to someone can make the intense emotions inside us come to our own awareness. This is great because now that we know what we are feeling, we can better manage the emotions.

    The 'using emotion' example is dumb because it shows someone only responding on an emotional level, showing, I would say, a lack of awareness or intelligence to understand and even override an action driven by pure emotion. Edit: Other than empathy, I think these two are off the mark, presenting a more touchy-feely view of what people are going thru mentally and emotionally. Being happy has nothing to do with cognitive ability, and "success" probably has more to do with taking initiative (being less afraid to try new things) and following thru (staying motivated and setting priorities).

    • @Zorgosto
      @Zorgosto 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I agree with your first statement. You should try to reflect about your emotions before you act. Otherwise it can lead to bad situations and ones that might be negative for you.
      Don't necessarily agree with your edit (if I understand it correctly). I think you can be more happy if you are more emotionally intelligent. Because if you manage your emotions well you can avoid negative thought patterns which usually only hold you back or you can listen to negative emotions and see what they want to tell you. Because normally negative emotions have a reasoning and might be connected to an unfulfilled desire or something bad that happened.

    • @majormononoke8958
      @majormononoke8958 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Your EQ is to low, once you reach a decent level around 100 you will understand that you can use your emotions to do good or you get stuff of your chest. To block your emotions consumes a lot of energy and leaves problems in the long run that must be addressed.
